2010 Chevrolet Malibu owner complaints

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel would intermittently fail to operate as needed with the power steering assist fault message displayed on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that excessive force was needed to operate the vehicle during the failure. Occasionally, the power steering assist functionality would return upon restart. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Steering not working correctly it is ver hard to turn steering wheel. Cluster lights went out so dashboard lights do not work, brake lights not working seems to be electrical problems with the vehicle

The steering wheel ceased and the contact was unable to turn the steering wheel. On another occasion while driving and attempting to make a left turn, the steering ceased. The vehicle was turned off and restarted and operated as intended. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the warranty mileage was exceeded for the steering warranty repair. The failure mileage was 174,000.

4 cylinder with electric power steering is not part of the recall..I'm having problems with the power steering completely going out while driving in motion and parking .....also the traction control lights constantly stays on

When I started my vehicle, an indicator light immediately reported a need to service my ESC and my power steering was disabled. After restarting the vehicle, it seemed to correct itself. Now, when driving, my steering wheel vibrates when there is no torque applied to the wheel and makes a chattering noise periodically. This has been going on for a week now.

Steering gets hard to maneuver while driving all lights come on on the dashboard and have to stop and reset vehicle, headlights work when they want to. I was driving on a highway when my steering got hard to use. I had to get on the shoulder and reset the battery, in order to get home safely

The power steering control locks up the steering system. The brakes pulsates when stopping cause losing traction. ESC control is off. Making the vehicle not drive-able.

The headlights keep breaking. The right side more often. I see these malibu's on the road all the time with a headlight out. It's expensive to replace and shouldn't happen as often as it does.

I was driving down main street in our town after just washing our 2010 malibu and the car started to loose power, the check engine light came on and the engine started to run rough and started to reduce power. With the check engine light that came on, the service ESC, service traction, and eng pwr showed up on the display. I stopped the car and turned it off. It took about 5 minutes for the car to run correctly again. I took the car to an auto parts store and the code p2135 was showing. This is the 2nd time this had happened. The other time was on 10/01/2013 with 69,193 miles on it. I took the car to the local Chevy dealer and they put some dielectric grease on some connectors. I called the Chevy dealer again today for another appointment. *tr

I bought my malibu in 2014. From ron marhofer Chevrolet. Not knowing there were recalls on my car when I bought it. In 2016, with 75k miles I was having troubles, brake lights were coming on when I accelerated the gas. Got the recall fixed. Now, at 102k miles and 2 years later, the brake lights are coming back on. My dealership told me since my warranty was up, I would have to pay a $99 diagnostic on top of labor. I wrote Chevrolet last week and they denied this has anything to do with the recall because no one else has been complaining.. It's frustrating and such a scandal. I have an appt with my dealership next week to take a look. I feel this is going to be a costly matter, for something gm is trying go cover up. Shame on you gm!

Car door will go out. Car door will not open and will be stuck closed. Car was stationary. Had to go out through the windows. Could be very dangerous if you were in an emergency and couldn't exit veichle because the doors wouldn't open.

Drivers seat frame broke at two weld areas. Vehicle has never sustained any damage to seat. Seat framed just failed. Dealership and welding shops have all told me this is a safety issue and should never have happened. *js

While driving my service engine light came on, then "service ESC", "reduced engine power", "ESC off". The car then had reduced power and had to have a code reset. The code was p2135. One day it happened 4 times during my 45 minute drive home. The car loses power and makes it unsafe on the highway etc. *tr

On 9/15/15 I was making a right hand turn from a red light when I heard a loud pop or bang from my front end, when I stepped on the gas the car would not accelerate. My car was out of warranty so after complaining to the dealership and gm they finally had it towed to the dealer (after 2 weeks) to have it fixed or looked at. The check engine light that was on at the time reset it self but the 2codes found in the computer were the p0716 and p0717 transmission codes but since they were historic (which the check engine light has never come on except for the break light issue) the dealership said my car was fine. I picked it up and off I went. 12 days later the vehicle bucked making a left turn, and the vehicle would not accelerate and the check engine light was back on. I was forced to drive

Wheel- "crack in rim" we purchase a 2010 Chevrolet malibu in 2013 from ivory Chevrolet in union city, ga. Notice over time that passage tire kept going low, replace tire 2 twice, finally in 2015 bought all new tires from sears to resolve the problem but the passage side kept losing pressure, complaint to sear it not their tires but maybe a crack in rim. Bought a new rim for passage side now the driver side started doing the same thing when back to sear, it not the tire but the wheel has a crack also, call gm on 12/28/2015 the rep send me to bellamy strickland they stated "parts: 131139 wheel leaking from center piece where attached to outer rim, case number 8-1731278803, no case in system for steel wheels leaking recommended to replace wheel for $233.84". I have replace the right wheel (

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet malibu. While driving 20 MPH, the vehicle vibrated abnormally and the check engine indicator illuminated. The reduced engine power warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle decelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,575.

Center brake light does not consistently light up when prompted by brake pedal. Sometimes it will work, sometimes with a little more effort on the pedal, sometimes not at all. Service ESC will also at times come on. Both issues were part of a recall and supposedly fixed. It did work for a while, but started happening again. I don't think the prescribed fix was sufficient.
