Took vehicle in to get check engine light issue looked at (timing belt issue, not a recall, but covered by Chevy). While they had the engine tore down, they informed us that there was a fluid leak with the power steering gear and was going to cost $1,400 to fix as it was not covered under warranty. This was hard to believe given that the car only has 34,000 miles. Chevy subsequently reduced the cost to $900. We were also told that Chevy had covered the repair cost for some vins for this same issue; but our VIN was not covered. Looking at posts on the internet; this issue can lead to a loss of power steering while moving, very concerning and there should be a recall. Fortunately, this issue was identified in the shop and not while we were driving. *js

Since october of 2013 I have been having issues with my power steering locking up or becoming so tight while trying to turn at slow speeds that I have to force a turn. I have take it to my dealership to have it looked at after reading the numerous complaints for the same issues. I was told that I would need a new pump and rack pinion steering, which was told it would cost me $1300 and is not covered under the power terrain!!!! I was also told there have been numerous complaints on the power steering making noises, in which Chevrolet replaced the power steering in the 2012 and newer models and which research shows that there are virtually no complaints in the 2012 models. I have almost been in accidents because the steering would like up while turning in intersections! *tr
Power steering and timing chain failed in vehicle at 74k miles. There are several complaints regarding the same issues from other owners of this vehicle. General motors has not accepted responsibility for this issue which has been widely reported. While in motion on november 4, 2017, our vehicle became difficult to maneuver eventually shutting off. Upon trying to restart the vehicle we heard a grinding sound. We immediately pushed the vehicle to a near by reputable repair shop. Upon their evaluation it was determined the timing chain was faulty and needed to be replaced. We contacted general motors to inform them of the issue, they responded by having us to tow our vehicle to don brown Chevrolet in saint louis missouri. General motors asked us to authorize don brown to "break down" the
I was driving at approximately 30mph on a road the traction control/stability track light came on and my car lost almost all power. it went from 30 to about 5mph. thankfully i was on a slower road and close to my house so I was able to get home. If I would have been on a highway I could have been killed. i quick google search showed thousands of other complaints with the same problem, my question is why is nothing being done. are they waiting for a certain number of deaths??
After some major maintenance work summer of 2018, car began to show more work needed. Summer of 2019 while driving on flat city road, power steering became difficult to turn & control curves and, check engine light came on. Parked the car until able to repair. Mechanic repaired power steering module car seemed ok. After about 2-3 weeks, check engine light & power steering problems again , now engine power reduced while driving w/stabilitrak warning & back up cam sometimes works. Whle driving , hard to turn on curves, corners and at appropriate posted speeds bc engine slows on its own and wont give enough power for flats or hills. Heating takes much longer to warm cabin and window button sometimes wont work.
My 2010 traverse had a power steering fluid leak in july, 2014. Took it to the local dealer who replaced the power steering pump at my cost of $800. Afterwards, I received a letter from gm stating this was a known issue and they would reimburse for any repairs. I continue to have power steering problems. Replacement of the pump was only a partial fix. This has created a safety issue. Today I was told the power steering gear needs replacing at my cost of $1,200. Based on gm's confession that there are known and documented power steering issues, all parts of my power steering system should be paid for and repaired by gm. *tr
Everytime when the steering wheel is turned, it makes a grinding noise. It keeps getting worse. Even when the steering wheel is barely turned.

My check-engine light came on while the vehicle was on a 300 mile trip, and the trouble codes at 2 different shops indicated that the timing chain had stretched and had to be replaced at 81,000 miles. Luckily, the vehicle did not breakdown on the highway. Prior to learning about similar problems in 2009 and some 2010 models, I had the chain replaced by a non gm mechanic. Since then I learned that gm has reimbursed or extended the warranty on select traverse vehicles.
Transmission slipped then vehicle surged ahead. Soon after while traveling 40 MPH an alarm sounded with the message "traction control off" and "service stabilitrac / engine power reduced" and the vehicle slowed rapidly. *tr

Engine was running rough; vehicle was sluggish. Check engine light came on. Dealership, burlington Chevrolet, ran a diagnostic and there were some failed codes (p0011 and p008), all related to the camshaft and timing chains. To repair, it would cost about $2,700 since I was six months over the powertrain warranty. They contacted gm and they stated that it would cost me $681 plus tax. I agreed to have the repairs completed which also included replacing the waterpump which was leaking. I have read online that timing chain problems on have occurred more frequently on 2007-2010 Chevy traverse, Saturn outlook, GMC acadia, and Buick enclave. All of these SUV's have the 3.6 liter v6 engine with dual overhead cams. What is happening on these vehicles is that the timing chains are stretching
I have an issue with the electrical system when the vehicle gets wet from rain or any kind of moisture I lose all warning chimes, blinkers on occasion, and the lights will flicker at times. Defective timing chains in a vehicle that was manufactured in 2009 where an extended warranty was issued for vehicles having faulty timing chains but since my vehicle was sold as a 2010 I don't qualify for the special extended warranty. While driving around a bend with the defective timing chain I have encountered a loss of power on the highway which almost caused a wreck while my kids were in the car on a trip. *tr

Driving on the freeway, suddenly several dings go off and a service stabilitrack light go off, with lights noting the malfunction light is off and that the stabilitrack is off. This was followed by a reduced engine power light, then a slow reduction in engine power to where I could not go over 35 MPH, until I pulled over and repeatedly turned the car on and off. This has happened numerous times over the past year+ but by the time I made it back home the issue was fine. Until the past 2 weeks. It seems to be occurring more frequently, including today while I was driving on the road ( I drive a lot for work). Today it happen a total of 6 times. I have taken it in to my mechanic several weeks ago and they checked the sensors, cleaned them and thought we could see if that would work. It
