Takata recall. My 2010 Dodge nitro makes a very loud, almost diesel truck like sound, whenever my car is running. It almost sounds like a vacuum cleaner inside the car. The steering wheel, seats, pedals, body, and gear shift of the Dodge shake constantly. This happens sitting still and in motion. The anti theft light turned on when the car was running, then the car turned off and would not turn back on for at least fifteen minutes. The drivers side window is starting to not work.
11/28/2011 at 3:19 am on monday morning, the horn on the vehicle started blowing for no reason. It sounded like someone was trapped in the vehicle and trying to get attention. This went on for about 35 minutes and finally stopped on its own just as it had started on its own. Nothing else happened for the next week. 12/5/2011 at 12:13 am on monday morning, the horn started to blow again in the same manner as before except only for a short time (approx 30-45 seconds) it would start and stop at random over the next 7 hours. The horns are hidden in the engine/bumper area so my only choice was to disconnect the battery. This was done by the prompting of the police officer that answered the "distress" call that he had received from the 911 dispatcher. Upon hooking the battery back up the ne
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Dodge nitro. My vehicle headlights will not cut on. Though it is not all the time it does happen a good 80% of the time and more now than ever. When you unlock the lock the lights will flicker. Then when you go to cut the lights on they will flicker on and off until they cut completely off and will not come back on until either the next day or the next couple of days. The lights will not cut on in motion or at a complete stop. This is a serious hazard especially for those who go in and get off work at night. This can cause accident and is definitely considered endangerment.

Nothing else happened for the few days. 10/13/2012 at 2:30 am on sunday morning, the horn started to blow again in the same manner as before except I removed the fuses to get to stop. When filling the vehicle with gasoline a large back flow of fuel will splash out of the fuel fill tube onto the exterior of the vehicle. This has occurred several times in the past several weeks causing a extremely unsafe condition. *tr
The driver's side door lock only works intermittently with the automatic key fob. Even though you can hear the locking mechanism actuate, the horn sounds and there seems to be a slight movement of the lock post, it doesn't physically lock the door. You can still push the outside door button and the door will open. I've found that it usually takes 2 - 3 attempts before it will lock. I've note after an online inquiry that several others have had the same and/or a very similar problem as well, and it was noted in one post that it was found to be a problem with a module in the door mechanism. I feel that this is a safety issue warranting a factory recall and/or repair as it constitutes a vehicle breech that would allow a safety and/or theft avenue. Using the key to physically lock the do
Inside door latch will not open door..need to open window and open door from outside after coming to a full stop and park, the door would not open from the inside. Latch feels as if nothing is attached to it on the inside panel. *tr

Outside temp was approx 30-35 f, engine was running aprox 10 mins, while accelerating from 30mph to 50 MPH on the highway, the gas pedal stayed to the floor after I took my foot off, causing vehicle to continue accelerating to a higher MPH. I put transmission selector into neutral, engine raced to a higher RPM, used brakes to slow vehicle down and exited highway. When I stopped the vehicle, I shut off ignition and heard the gas pedal pop back into position. After approx 2 mins, I restarted engine and everything seemed normal. Has not recurred as of yet. Called major Chrysler Jeep Dodge service department to inquire if they've had this type of incident, they said no. They checked if vehicle was still under warranty, no it was not. They offered diagnostic check but I scanned the aldl f
Moment before my drive shaft broke, I was driving 70 MPH on the highway. If my driveshaft would have broke like the way it did, I could have seriously been injured or caused a death. I excited the highway, and got off was stopped at a redlight and pressed the gas with no results. My vehicle started to back up, and I had to press the emergency brake. Thank you *tr

Upon filling up gasoline at two separate gas stations on two separate days, gasoline was observed to spew out even though the gas pump itself had shut off. Possible inlet control valve defect, filler tube defect. Unsure but gas simply spews out, about a half gallon before stopping. *tr
