2010 Ford Fusion owner complaints

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the messages "Tract Off" and "Service Power Steering" were displayed, and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (STEERING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 160,000.

While driving the steering failed, was able to avoid crashing into power pole!!!

Went to crank it one day after changing a tire on the front and the power steering quit working when I got back in it and cranked it up and hasn't worked since.

I was moving my vehicle from outside drive into my garage. When steering assist message appeared. At this point power steering failed. Was able to drive vehicle inside. I had vehicle towed to Ford dealer were the steering power pack module was replaced.

Complete loss of power steering while driving on a major highway at 55mph. An indicator message came on at that time, reading "service power steering now" as well as "service advance track now" and due to loss of steering and inability to turn the steering wheel, I was able to pull off the road to avoid an accident. Diagnostics at Ford certified repair center indicated a faulty sensor in the steering gear. This required installation of an entire new steering gear.

I went to pick up my car from the Ford dealership after dropping it off, again, on friday, 12/27 to fix the same exact issue I brought it in for the day before. The steering got incredibly stiff and the "service power steering now" light came on as well as the "service advancetrac" light. The first time they replaced the steering rack. Second time they blamed the wiring. I brought the car in today 12/31 but they were closed so I can't wait to see what they are going to try to fix when they open back up on jan 2nd. I have not been able to drive this car for almost a week now and I wont be able to any time soon I feel. *tr

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH in a parking lot, the power steering lost functionality. The contact stated that the "Service Power Steering Now" warning light was illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle in the parking lot and turned off and on restarted the vehicle several times; however, the power steering assist failed to resume normal operation. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to manufacturer Customer Satisfaction Program 15N01 (EPAS Steering Efforts). The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

The vehicle was stationary, when I went to turn it on it had a power steering assist fault. Ended up having to take it into the dealership who are working on it right now. Total cost of the work is about $1,800 and looking online it's obvious many others have had this issue. When I brought up the recall on 2010 Ford fusions (recall 15s18) I was told that only applied to cars built in september of 2010 to another date, when mine was build in june - meaning it didn't qualify. It is my belief that this should be included in the recall by Ford as many others have had the same issue.

I went to drive my car and lost all steering capabilities...the power steering was lost. I still had to get my car home which was still a safety issue without the power steering I was close to home and I was in a panic without the steering capabilities. The car was in motion to get it home. This was a very scary situation. If I had been on a major road this would of been a serious situation which would of lead to an accident not being able to steer the vehicle. There needs to be a recall for these power steering mechanisms.. I am surprised there hasn't been because I am aware there are thousands out there with the same problem. We have not moved the car from the garage yet to get it to a dealer still unsafe to drive. Ford needs to recall all vehicles with this problem

I have a 2010 Ford fusion se 4drv6 and was driving my vehicle down a highway and my low tire pressure light came on. Unable to pull over immediately I drove to the nearest good year which offers free tire repair when out of no where the traction stability control kicked in on my car and my service screen said "service power steering now" I maintained control of the vehicle until I got to good year where they discovered that I had no power steering. *js

While driving to a friends house, the power steering just went out. The vehicle was almost impossible to steer though it was able to be driven off the side of the road. Had it taken to the nearest Ford dealership and they stated that it was a power steering failure that would cost 2000 to repair. *js

Advanced power steering light came on and my steering wheel was hard to turn. The body underneath came apart, and the transmission recall is being handled by my attorney.

The contact stated that she had to apply more pressure to the brake pedal than usual to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle seemed to stop at a lower speed than the amount of force that was needed to apply the brakes. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the hip, ankle, knee, and wrist. Medical attention was not received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact of a future recall regarding the brakes. The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA to file a complaint. T

I was driving to work and it felt like I hit an ice patch in the road and almost rear ended another vehicle. Ever since then my brakes have been soft, I have done just about everything besides changing major hardware on the vehicle and still no change. I do not feel safe at all driving this vehicle anymore and really want a resolution to the issue

2010 fusion hybrid lost power then shut down. A warning on the instrument panel said to pull over safely and stop. I have done research and found other drivers of the same make and model are having the same problem. If this were to happen in heavy traffic it could cause an accident. Apparently Ford motor is aware of the problem but has done nothing to remedy the situation. My understanding is the problem may be with the throttle body according to some of the complaints I have read. My vehicle is out of warranty but others have had the problem with vehicles under warranty. This problem occurred at 45 MPH, thankfully just before turning onto i95 interstate entrance.

Was driving about 40 miles per hour when the car started to stall as if it was running out of gas and wrench light (check engine) came on. Pulled over to side of road and car began to violently shake. Turned the car off, waited a minute, turned it back on and was able to drive it. Two days later, driving about 25 miles per hour, exact same thing happened. Four days later, 55 MPH, same thing. It is now at the Ford dealership and they are unable to find code. Code was previously found as p2112 throttle actuator stuck open. I explained what was going on, the previous code, and that I have seen hundreds of complaints online about the same experience. My 2010 Ford fusion stalled many times last weekend. I pulled the car over to the side of the road, put it in park, and turned it off and back on, and it ran fine to get me home. I had no further problems with it until today, roughly a week later. It stalled on me twice at speed, and I had to pull over, turn it off, and restart the engine, upon which it ran fine. Each time it stalled, the wrench icon lit up on the dashboard after it stalled, but did not stay on once the engine was restarted. Today after the third stall, I noticed the car was kind of jerking as I pulled it to a stop, but as I pressed the gas nothing happened.
