2010 Honda fit. Consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair driver front airbag inflator recall notice. *smd

We keep getting notifications that we need to replace our air bags. Both the left and right bags have been replaced by gustman in appleton, wi. They said that they notified you and I personally have sent paperwork. I refuse to send more and would like to be taken off the list. I will now be destroying this mailing and will not open any more. I will send them back to you

I have called Honda numerous times but they have not replaced air bag yet.

This is a follow up to my original complaint NHTSA id number: 10554185 now with this nationwide airbag recall I suspect my incident is related but am very concerned that after my complaint my vehicle does not appear on the recall list. Obviously since then I have repaired my vehicle but at my expense. After contacting this agency, Honda headquarters in us and the Honda dealer at the time I got no help or guidance, and yet a year later there is this massive recall on airbags that took years and multiple stages and loss of life to come to light. At the time of my incident emergency response and police remarked that in all of their experience they had not witnessed the state of how and why my airbags deployed. Does this not raise a flag now? As I was driving on the service road a vehicle in front of me stopped short, I steered my vehicle to the leftside of the road to avoid a collision. It was raining and the road was slick causing my car to go into a tail spin. I gained control of my car without making impact to anything and my driver side airbags deployed, although my airbags burst out they did not appear to inflate completely. Also my driver side seat belt completely came out of its track. I suffered a scratch/burn on the left side of my neck and a bruise below my right shoulder from the seatbelt. Ambulance and police were called to the scene. I made a right turn and the steering wheel would not straighten. I was forced to continue turning. It was a congested area in front of boston back bay rail station. Luckily, there was a space in the drop off lane to my right with no person or car in the way and I was able to brake and stop without injuring anybody. My Honda fit is the s model which has controls on the cross-bar of the steering wheel for clutch-less shifting. The righthand control had caught on my winter coat. And prevented the wheel from returning to the upright position. Note that I am short (5'1") so that I have the seat forward in order to reach the pedals. This puts me closer to the wheel than most people. I could easily have hit a car or pedestrian because of these unnecessary shifters. They really should be

This started with a little stiffness in steering. It is very hard to control now when making a turn. I am afraid to drive the the car. Local dealer says he cannot replicate the problem. Honda needs to alert and recall.

The car's steering is extremely over-responsive, but is unfortunately not speed sensitive. As a result, if one takes their eyes off the road for even a second, the car often moves out of its lane. Both my wife and I have had several scary experiences, where we looked over our shoulder momentarily in preparation for a lane change, checked traffic on busy cross streets, or changed a heating or cooling setting, and found ourselves crossing over the centerline or nearing the ditch. The car does not track straight, and also tends to veer left or right after going over bumps. I am very concerned that one of us could get killed in either a head-on collision or by running into the ditch. The car is a base fit model, with a 5-speed manual. *tr

Takata recall my Honda 2010 fit is metallic blue and the paint is fading. The entire roof is white. Large white spots on the hood and now fading marks on the side of the car. It is only 5 years old and in excellent shape. A 5 year old car and it looks 15 years old. The Honda dealership has not agreed at this time to pay for a full repaint job. They have agreed to pay 70% of the total billfor the roof and hood of the car. My concern is that they will repaint the roof and hood and not the back and sides and then they will fade. I also will need to rent a car while they are repairing the paint. This will bring my total close to $500.00. This is not my fault and I believe a paint job should last more than 5 years. Seats in Honda fit 2010 are causing severe back problems to the point that I may need to have surgery. I am not prone to severe lower back problems but since purchasing this vehicle I have been to the doctor 3 times and seen a physiotherapist. The doctor has now made an appointment for me with a physatrist and if this doctor cannot resolve my problem, I will have to have back surgery. *tr

The a/c switch on the dash is defective. I turn it on, the a/c clutch engages but, then I can't turn it off... Causing the a/c to run constantly, even in the winter. *tr

Wife drove car to work on rainy day and opened window to use key card to enter parking garage. When leaving work window would not open. I am a mechanic and inspected switches on master switch when wife arrived home that day. Window would surge up with switch placed in up position no operation in down position. I ordered new drivers window master switch online and replaced unit and it fixed the problem. I am reporting this because I noticed Honda fit older models had a recall for window switch issues. I think they still have a issue with moisture getting to the switch solder board.switch part number 35750-tk6-a01 $154.00. *tr

I had come to a stop sign on a city street in xenia, ohio and when I applied the gas to pull out I heard a clunk and the car didn't move forward but the engine continued to run normally. I surmised something went wrong with the power train. I called aaa and they thought the same, the tow driver having been a mechanic for many years said broken drive shafts on hondas was a common problem. It was towed to a Honda dealership in beavercreek, oh and it was found the left side drive shaft had broken and needed replaced. Are broken drive shafts common on hondas? I have attached the repair bill.

I called the Honda dealership in Concord California on 12/2/2024 for the 20V-770 recall as well as the airbag shrapnel issue. They checked with the service manager and refused to inspect the drive train unless there “Was a problem with the car”. They refused to repair the air bags unless “something happens, hopefully nothing happens then we can look at it.” They offered to have the airbags repaired at our expense. What is the point of having a recall if the dealers refuse to even look at the car until it crashes or hits you with shrapnel?

Parked at a mall. Driver's door would not open. After many efforts I managed to get front passenger door open. Key would not unlock door from outside. For 2 days while waiting for appointment at dealership had to leave unlocked and use front passenger door. Dealership "found door latch faulty." total cost over $800.00. Has been replaced.
