Honda odyssey 2010 grab bar caused toddler to break leg. Two year old was in her car seat behind the driver's seat. She put her foot on top of the grab bar behind the seat, her shoe (size 7 1/5) caught, she pulled and the force broke her leg. This happened in the time it took me to open the door and get into the car. I think that if the grab bar was shaped differently (thicker bar part and narrower hole ) that this would not have happened. *tr

Have had intermittent issue with the automatic feature not being able to fully close the driver's side door. Today, I tried to open it but driver's side door was making grinding noise and only opening 1/3 of the way on the automatic setting. I disengaged the automatic sliding door function and opened it manually. Slid open no problem. I reengaged the auto setting when I went to close the door. It started to slide close and a little less than half way, it fell at me, coming completely off the car other than a small guide wire in the center. I can not get it back into place and am looking into getting it towed to be repaired. When the center roller came off the track it left gigantic gashes in the paint/metal on the side of the van.
The sliding door mechanism makes a rough, grinding sound. Have tried to lubricate them, but does not seem to help. Have owned previous odysseys and they never sounded this bad. *tr
The sliding doors to our 2010 Honda odyssey have failed to close. The problem is that the roller that they run on brakes and causes the door not to close. It will open but not close. This has happened to us three times and it was today towed to the dealer for the second time. The safety issue is that this can happen anyplace such as a stop on the shoulder of a major highway to switch drivers. When the door does not close the car will not allow the transmission to get out of park into gear. There we are stuck on a major highway and not able to move. If we get out of the car we can get hit by a car. It is a very dangerous situation and needs you immediate attention. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Honda odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, which exhibited a spongy sensation and a delayed response. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the technician bled the brakes. The malfunction continued to occur. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 100. The VIN was unavailable.
I too have had unintended acceleration problems w/ both my new 2010 Honda odyssey (currently 1600 mi) and my 2005 Honda odyssey (130000 mi when traded-in). In all cases I had engine acceleration as I tried to apply the brakes. Very scary the first time or two. I finally discovered that my foot was overhanging the brake pedal on the right (which it can easily do when braking with my right foot) and was inadvertently contacting the gas pedal. The harder I tried to brake the faster the engine accelerated. I have learned to let up on the brake & move my foot to the left. Immediate problem was solved but I believe this a design fault. More distance between the brake & gas pedals would eliminate this problem. Perhaps a redesign of the brake pedal face would be a cost effective remedy. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Honda odyssey. The contact was driving approximately 10 MPH and applied the brakes however, there was an abnormal vibration and a high pitched noise that emitted continuously. The contact also mentioned that there was a delayed response when braking. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer eight times where the front brakes and rotors were replaced, however the failure persisted after the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.
My 2010 Honda odyssey is accelerating while breaking. Both times I am trying to slow down and stop at red traffic light, and both times, it initially slowed down but accelerated all of sudden. I had to shift to P before it finally stopped.

Idler pulley bad causing belt to break.chapman enterprises replaced idler assembly and belt.mount bolt broke less than 3oo miles later.they replaced assembly and belt and bolt broke again a few days later.they gave another.assembly and belt to my father to install. He installed it and bolt broke again at 197 miles.loss of power steering could cause an accident resulting in damage, injury , or fatality. Replaced again will see if problem reoccurs. Photo shows end of bolt left in mount , rest of bolt and pulley lost on transport of vehicle to home..bolts broke while on city streets at speeds of 20 to 50 MPH.
Engine mounts have failed prematurely. Engine moves and jolts car every time you come to a stop or when accelerating from a stopped position. This motion was first noticed around 72,000 miles and continued to get worse over time. Have seen online that many other Honda odyssey drivers have experienced this problem between 65,000 and 80,000 miles driven. This is a part that shouldn't fail this early and is very expensive to fix. *tr

DEATH TRAP Front windows open and close by themselves while driving - dangerous for kids and pets in car Sliding doors on both sides do not work properly - do not latch - passenger door doesn't slide open or closed Door locks unresponsive - last week only driver's door and tail gate would unlock and open
Van will start periodically. But the next day the battery will be dead & has been jumped off with jump box & other vehicles assist. But battery is new, terminals cleaned. Van will not even make a clicking sound. I feel that there is evidence of faulty ignition switch, starter relay or parked/neutral safety switch & maybe more depending on chassis electrical. The vehicle is also stationary until the next morning.this happens to be my wife's vehicle... Need this fixed asap..
Tl*the contact owns a 2010 Honda odyssey. Upon parking the vehicle he was unable to unlock any of the doors. The anti theft system began to sound after repeated attempts to exit the vehicle. The incident was reported to the police who informed him to move the key back and forth inside of the ignition which allowed the doors to unlock and the contact to exit the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure and the computer system was reset. The failure and current mileages were 5,120. Updated 01/14/11*lj

Power steering no work from slow speed. Sometimes very hard to turn wheel even highspeed. *tr
At 7000 miles, the transmission made a very loud grinding and rattling noise, shaking the vehicle, when shifting from r to d. This was repeated at 25,000 miles several months after the software upgrade. In july of 2010, vehicle was brought in for memory steering, they replaced the right strut. November of 2010, the vehicle steering is unstable at low speeds when turning left. The sensation is either over-activity of the power steering pump or under-activity. Vehicle seems very unstable under low speed driving conditions, especially on bumpy roads. Vehicle taken to dealer, they could not identify anything abnormal. *tr

My new to me 2010 Honda odyssey touring van has extremely uncomfortable driver's seat and passenger seat due to protruding head restraints. The head rest pushes head so far forward that it causes pain in the back, neck, hips and legs due to lack of any support in the back.it does not matter where you position the seat or the head restraint. Nothing makes it comfortable. I am now having severe back pain, and stressed muscles everywhere else. I am 5'4". Please create less protruding head rests so my back can actually reach the back of the seat and my neck is not forced forward in an awkward angle. Help please. This is my fifth Honda and second odyssey and I have never had any car of any brand be so uncomfortable. *tr
Shortly into a short trip (~5mi) on local streets, smoke came out of the front hood. The vehicle was stopped immediately and 911 called. The emergency team arrived quickly, but fire was noticed in the front hood even before they showed up. The fire was put out but the vehicle was totaled as the front hood was almost complete fried. The vehicle was under regular maintenance and had about 83000 miles on it. Before this incident, no warning sign or other indications were noticed.

2010 Honda odyssey. Consumer states vibration and transmission problems *tgw the consumer stated he could fell the transmission slipping and the vehicle would shake while driving at certain speeds. The dealer was unable to duplicate the consumer's concern. The consumer stated the judder continued to get worse.
