2010 Jeep Compass owner complaints

Every time I fill my Jeep up it starts jerking then completely quits. I restart my Jeep and start to pull out onto the street and/or highway it still jerks for the first few seconds then quits. I had a engine diagnostic test and had to replace the canister costing me $248.00 not counting labor cost. This has been an issues for the last seven months to date, the jerking and shutting off of my Jeep

Jeep compass has just over 61,000 miles, when turning to go up my driveway the control arm fell to the ground. I had to purchase new vehicle as this was unsafe to drive. The service department at lia Jeep of northampton reported to me that I would keep continuing having other problems with underneath the car even if repaired as it was so bad. This is why I chose to get new vehicle. Metro Jeep of chicopee, ma took is as a trade and will be towed there today. 10/4/19 I was very thankful that this did not happen at high rate of speed or I may not be typing this right now.

Car stalls after you fill up the gas tank and drive away from the gas station. If you come to stop and/or idol within 5 minutes of filling up your car tank or coasting along it will stall.

The vehicle keep on honking on it own. We took the vehicle to the dealership which the diagnosed and repaired the problem but the vehicle from time keeps honking. We took it back to the dealership they say there's no code showing up for the and it never went off while there.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called van andel and flikkema Chrysler Jeep (3844 plainfield ave, ne, grand rapids, mi 49525; 616-363-9031) and was informed that the recall repair appointment had to be rescheduled for the fourth time with given cause. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, contacted the dealer, but was unable to expedite the dealer's appointment. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The car had been sitting parked for 2 hours. No key in ignition. Looked out and saw fire coming out of the rear of the car. Lighting fixture was complete burned out as well as everything else ove to where the gas tank spout is. Fire dept came. Filled out a report . The head lights and other lights inside car kept coming on intermittently even after the fire was out. There was no key in ignition and the car had been sitting parked for 2 hours.

When stopping at a traffic light the idle goes lower than expected an the car turns off. It doesn't always do it but I have a friend with the same car and after calling the dealership the seller told him that after the car start accumulating mileage that happens to it. Very hot day in southern california. Driving north of I-15 freeway. For the first time since I owned the car (original owner) I placed the a/c blower control swith in position 4 (max position). After a few seconds smoke began to billow out of the opening of the blower control knob. Once noticed, it got progressively worse to the point that I had to turn off the a/c and navigate four full speed lanes of traffic to pull over in case of fire spread. Once safely on shoulder, turned car off, evacuated car and waited until smoke cleared. Once clear, restarted car and after minutes of no issues with a/c off, proceeded home. The vehicle was hit on left front door and front quarter panel propelling it into a parking lot over a curb. The left front tire blew upon impact. The vehicle was repaired by a Chrysler/Jeep dealership. After the vehicle was fixed several people got sick in the car or just after exiting the car. This lasted for six thousand miles over three months period of time. I purchased a carbon monoxide tester because how many people got sick. It went off on the third day of it being in the vehicle. Another Chrysler dealership inspected the vehicle and found an exhaust leak that was over looked by the first dealership when they repaired the vehicle after the accident. The dealer (ramey Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 27992 gov g c peery hwy, north tazewell, va 24630 (276) 988-6526) was contacted and stated that the vehicle was only included in a seat belt recall. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist; however, the contact heard a message about the rust failure when she was placed on hold. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000.

The transmission control module stopped working. After trying to turn the car on. It would only move in 1st gear and in reverse. It happened a second time less then 6 months later. The car shifted into drive and the entire car jerked and made a popping sound. And would again only work in 1st and reverse. The 3rd I was driving on the interstate. As I got on the off ramp the car beeped like it was out of gas and then about a second later the traction control light and oil temperature light came on and the car felt like some one had slammed on the brakes briefly. This caused me to pull slightly to the side when this happened. Manual transmission car was revving high after shifting gears. Rpms were approximately 4000 once shifted into second gear going 20 MPH. Called dealership to schedule an appointment for the following week. The next day in the highway the car had no power. Would only be able to go 40mph in a 65 in 5th gear. It was a 20 minute drive to work. On the way home on the highway, the same issue with lack of power. 5 minutes into the ride I heard a pop and lost all power to the car. Was able to get to the side of the highway. Got my insurance paper out of the car to call a tow truck and got out of the car. After purchasing my new/used compass from a dealer in town I went to fill the gas tank up. Not really a problem this time filling the tank but upon stating the vehicle it started to stall shake , spit, and sputter down the road after only about a 1/10 of a mile. During this time of stall the steering became almost impossible to turn while driving towards oncoming traffic . This wasnt the only time it done this ....no every time I go to fill up the tank with gas it does the same thing and acts the same way it straightens up after running a few miles (if it stays running ) or restarting the engine. Lately it takes me about a half an hour to fill the tank because the pump shuts off like it is about to over-spill except the tank is empty and it isn't the pump because it does this at every gas

I've owned a 2010 Jeep compass for two years now. I use it as a work vehicle. Recently it started making a very rough sounding noise going down the road. It would be deep and disgruntled and then high pitched almost whistling. I took it to a mechanic and they said the front subframe is rusted so bad it's unsafe to drive. So I started looking into the issue online and there are dozens and dozens of other Jeep owners complaining about the same issue with their jeeps. And to make it all worse Jeep seems to want to do nothing about it. It's unsafe and it's going to get someone severely hurt or killed.

my front and rear sub-frame rotted out, making my vehicle dangerous to drive for me my family and other passengers that ride in my vehicle,it is also a danger to other vehicles and persons on the road. Chrysler knows of this problem with 2010 jeep compass but has never issued a safety recall, it seems only fair that Chrysler should held responsible to recall this vehicle since they used cheap parts knowing they would not hold up in states with heavy winters and the use of salt on roadways.

As a result, the contact slammed on the brake pedal and rear ended the other vehicle. The driver's seat belt failed to engage and all the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. ABS light turned on and stayed on. I have a Jeep compass 2010 and during the first 28,000 miles the ABS light turned on. Talking with several owners of Jeep compass and Dodge caliber noticed that those guys had the same problem. Currently my compass has 42,000 miles and still have the same problem. Is this a recall for warranty or repair by the warranty or I have has to pay for this. *tr

When it rains and the vehicle is stationary there is no obvious sign of a leak however when driving after the rain a steady stream of water comes out of the map light. It flows on to the radio and heater controls. I am very good about keeping a paper towel handy to absorb as much as possible. Unfortunately I now have an extremely wet carpet that is molding. Jeep states that I should clean the drains for the sunroof, which I do quite often. They also state that the vehicle is not under warranty and they can not offer a fix with out charging me. I have had this vehicle for just over a year and I purchased it from a Jeep dealer.
