I have a 2010 Mercury Milan with only 60000 miles on it and the electric power steering went out. It happened while i was driving causing the car to hard right. The part costs $900 and then it has to be programmed at a dealership. I know there was a recall for this but only for the 2011 model. After researching and reading other safety complaints, it's pretty clear that a recall should be done for the 2010 model.

My wife was backing out of a parking spot at a shopping center when the power steering went out on our 2010 milan. There were no previous warning notifications prior to this incident. The warning lights indicated to service advance track and service power steering now. I have read that there are recalls for this problem with 2011 milan's and above but not the 2010. Were the same steering components installed in the 2010 as in the 2011 and above. I'm thankful that my wife was just in a parking lot when this took place and no on the express way. Currently at the Ford dealer. Waiting to see what the cost will be to repair !!!!! Does someone have to get seriously injured or die before Ford will include the 2010 milan for this power steering problem.
Tl-contact owns a 2010 mercury milan - --- contact stated power steering that went out - a few weeks ago ago - going 35 MPH when steering failed ---contact had called Ford/mercury dealership and dealership stated 0 recalls on vehicle .... 0 recalls associated with this VIN
While driving to work this morning on the highway. The power steering assist and the advanced traction control functions both alarmed and stopped working. I was able to get to work, but now I cannot steer at all. Both warning lights are illuminated and both functions continue to not work.
Pulling out of driveway to enter street steering locked couldnt turn car light came on and it read power steering assit.default.
Power steering assist failure message and service advancetrac message
Approximately 3 months ago I got into my car to go to work. I drove the vehicle on the city side streets to get to the highway that I travel to work. The trouble light indicator came on indicating poor steering and the vehicle did seem to be steering incorrectly. I returned home and drove my wife's vehicle to work. Next day I went out to check to see if there was a problem. I started up my vehicle and tried to drive the vehicle out of my parking place. The power steering won't work at all. Now I do not have a vehicle to get to work. There has been a recall on the 2011, 2012 mercury milan for this same problem. Why hasn't there been one for the 2010????

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mercury milan. The contact stated that the passenger's side brake light failed. The contact found out the brake and tail lights were faulty by being stopped by a sheriff. A repair shop informed her, the computer chip in the tail lights were faulty. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000. Right rear brake light inoperable and none repairable.the assembly is not repairable and is very expensive to replace ($300 to $400 ).Ford should make the assembly serviceable or affordable.failure is very premature and should be recalled. *tr
I have had to replace both brake lights on my 2010 milan. Now that they are LED with a computer the cost is $400 a piece. Not a good thing. *tr
When the lights are on (at night), the rear lights are continuously at their highest brightness, as if the brakes were pressed down. So, it appears that the brakes are on continuously. The only difference when the brake pedal is pressed down is that the central light high up on the trunk turns on. This is only an issue at night- during the day the brake lights function normally. Based on internet forums at edmunds and consumer reports, among others, I have found at least 10 other instances of this exact same problem with 2010 mercury milans, most with low mileage: e.g. Http://forums.consumerreports.org/n/pfx/forum.aspx?nav=messages&tsn=1&webtag=cr-38aujohn&tid=5115 ; http://www.edmunds.com/mercury/milan/2010/consumer-discussions.html. My car has only 15,000 miles on it. This clearly appea

Was alerted that my left rear passenger tail light on my 2010 mercury milan hybrid was abnormally bright and that brake light did not change illumination level. Took car to dealership and was informed that entire assembly was faulty and would need to be replaced for $600. I have an extended warranty, premiumcare ecp, and was told that this was not a warranty eligible item and is instead considered consumable because there are leds involved. There are no bulbs burned out, they are highly illuminated all the time due to a manufacturing defect. This is a safety issue, not a convenience issue. *tr
Someone noticed my rear passenger tail light on my 2010 mercury milan was abnormally bright and that brake light did not work. So I investigate and find that I have to replace the whole assembly instead of just a bulb. Omg. I have been a loyal Ford owner since 1985. The cost to replace is over $600? Unbelievable. This is a safety issue and should be recalled. *tr
I have a 2010 mercury milan. The milan is equipped with LED tail and brake lights, unlike it's sibling, the Ford fusion. Recently, I discovered after being pulled over by the police that the brake lights were not operating. I went to the dealer's service department, only to discover that the tail light/brake light/turn signal assembly is one sealed, unserviceable unit. There was no warning and leds do not burn out this quickly. To add insult to injury, Ford will not cover this under their premuimcare esp warranty, because they consider it a consumable object like tires. So on top of almost getting killed by being rear-ended in a collision, I got the privilege of paying $1000.00 to replace both sealed assemblies. This is a common failure in these vehicles and a hazard on the road wh

"takata recall" in july 2016, I received a recall notification from Ford advising that the air bag inflators were defective. I just received another letter from Ford dated december 2017 advising that it was unsafe for anyone to occupy the front passenger seat until the recall revision is complete. I find this to be totally unacceptable as this is our only family car. I suggest that the Ford motor company furnish replacement cars with working air bags to those of us affected, at their expense until the passenger air bag in my car is repaired. Since we are now being advised that a front passenger involved in a front end collision could be fatally injured, we have lost the safe use of our car. Please investigate this matter as soon as possible. Please see warning on december 2017 recall lett

Went to open the driver side door and wasn't able to open from inside. I had to roll the window down to open door from outside handle. I find this to be a hazard if an emergency would have occurred. My car was in off position after parking and removing key out of ignition.

I was driving down the highway traveling at approximately 60mph when the car suddenly stalled and I was not able to accelerate. The wrench light came on at the same time as well. I turned on my hazard lights and was able to coast to the shoulder of the road. The car started to shake a lot as it slowed down. I turned the car off, and was able to start back up again. The very next morning while traveling a 50mph on a different highway the same thing happened again. I took it to the dealership to have a diagnostic run on the car as I had no idea why it was stopping. As I was about to turn into the dealership traveling at 25mph it stalled again. The result of the diagnostic test was there was a code stored in system of the electronic throttle body. It was giving a code for being stuck open wh

Cooper cs4 touring tires continued loss of air pressure on all 4 tires. These tires have been dismounted and remounted at least 3 times to reseal the beads but after a few months will start to leak air. Air loss is approximately 3 PSI per day. Side walls and tread areas have excessive surface cracking. One year earlier one of the tires blew out and was replaced with a cooper cs5 tire because the cs4 was discontinued. That tire holds air perfectly. This is a dangerous problem and has already lead to a blow out.
