Nissan is recalling certain model year 2009 and 2010 altima and maxima passenger cars
If the strut insulator is cracked, there is a potential for the strut rod to come out of its mounting position, which could affect vehicle stability and increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Nissan will notify owners and dealers will replace both left and right side front strut insulators free of charge. The safety recall began october 2009. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-nissan1 (1-800-647-7261).

How serious is the suspension problem on the 2010 Nissan Altima?
It's a documented issue but not catastrophic. 24 complaints have been filed. Repairs average $900 and most owners catch it before it causes a breakdown.
At what mileage does the suspension typically fail?
Across the 16 complaints that reported odometer mileage, most suspension failures cluster between 75,000 and 137,000 miles, with the median around 90,000. A quarter of owners report trouble before 75,000; a quarter make it past 137,000. Maintenance history matters more than the odometer alone — this is the reported failure window, not a guarantee.
