Vehicle was stationary. Car died when starting. The starter turned over and the engine engaged, but immediately died. There was no forewarning concerning the health of the engine (I.e. No check engine light, no rough riding/issues with gears). My mechanic checked inside the fuel pump and saw there was a wire burned black that caused the fuel pump to fail. We are very concerned that this is a fault of equipment and not simple wear and tear on the car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 Subaru impreza. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to start. After several attempts, the vehicle started. The failure recurred multiple times intermittently. While driving approximately 45 MPH, there was a smell of fuel from the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the wire that was attached to the fuel pump had a short and caused the fuel pump to melt. The fuel pump and the wiring harness were replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

The passenger side airbag on my 2010 Subaru impreza is intermittently disabled, even with a 125 pound adult occupying the seat. Shifting your weight in the seat may enable the airbag, but it will usually become disabled again while driving. This seems like a potential safety hazard and is very concerning. I've seen similar complaints on different websites; is Subaru considering a recall or does someone have to get injured first? *tr

The driver's side sun visor, which is supposed to stay where you put it (either up out of the way or down in front of the window) has lost its grip and now just hangs straight down obscuring my view of the road ahead and could swing into my face if I brake or accelerate quickly.

10/31/2013 48,250 mi ODI #10550346.0

Driving in heavy traffic at 65-70mph the sun visor just dropped down blocking my vision. There was no immediate fix as being on the road you can't pull over and just do something with it. I therefore had to hold the visor in place for several miles. Once I was able to pull over there was still no fix, holding the visor in place and driving with one hand in heavy traffic is a hazard for myself and others on the road. I drove for several days like this trying everything from paper in the visor to electrical tape I had purchased hoping to hold it up. Nothing worked. When heading back from nevada I decided to use a rubber band to criss cross it and secure it to the handle you use to get into the car. Now this was nice except I was heading east and every morning when I left my hotel I could not

Driver side sun visor has been dropping down for about 2 weeks. Today as I was pushing it up it came off entirely. The piece it slid off from looks broken. *tr

The driver side sun visor no longer stays up. The internal plastic tension tubing has broken and visor can separate from mount attaching to the car. Problem occurs when vehicle is stationary and moving. Problem was not exacerbated by any action or abuse, it simply started.

Car is 6 years old, ~50,000 miles on it, and the fuel tank is rusted out. Leaking enough that it cannot be fixed and must be replaced. My mechanic says this is highly irregular. Dealer says they haven't had to replace a fuel tank in decades.

Subaru 2010 wrx clutch failed at low mileage. There's a known defect involving the firewall that Subaru is not issuing a recall on and should, this usually burns out clutches early in the lifecycle. *tr

08/08/2014 70,000 mi ODI #10620926.0

My 2010 wrx sti hatchback is making a creaking/flexing/bending sound every time I depress my clutch pedal. I started to notice this about a month after I purchased my vehicle and at first I thought it was just a noise issue and upon further research I noticed that my clutch pedal/brake assembly is flexing and the spot welds are failing on the firewall. I have taken it to multiple dealerships in virginia and they all have said it is "normal" and refused to work on it saying my warranty has expired. I am not sure if the vehicle is safe to drive or if the assembly will stop working causing an accident, injury or death. *tr

Engine completely seized while driving on the highway without any warning from the car's computer engine seizure was due to all of the oil leaking out of the engine from the oil filter area. This was a slow leak over a 5 month period. The biggest concern here is that the car's computer system did nothing to warn me of this impending catastrophic failure. No oil lights ever came on, no CEL ever came on, the oil temperature gauge never moved from the middle. From the time the slight knocking in the engine started to the time of the engine seizing was probably less then 5 minutes. Even during the engine knocking no warning lights or CEL came on at all. If I was not such an experienced driver I think this could have ended as a very bad accident. I could see somebody else being in a very

The son stated that a small fire had ignited under the front end of the hood and eventually engulfed the vehicle. The police were on the scene and called the fire department. The son was not sure if the fire department extinguished the flame with water or chemicals. The fire department issued a report. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot and declared a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. The manufacture

Vehicle hesitates then surges forward violently when accelerator is pressed when engine is cold or in cold weather. Condition improves when engine is warmed up. Dealership and Subaru have not addressed the issue. Dealership will not allow me to drive vehicle as they say it's unsafe, but are not working on solving the issue.

09/18/2015 47,351 mi ODI #10765154.0

The left front brake hose rusted out. This was on the metal piece at the end of the hose. It was leaking fluid at a high rate. Before I knew this was the issue, the emergency brake like came on, so I filled up my fluid and the light went off. I was able to drive about 100 miles (likely less) before the light came on again. That is when I had it checked. The mechanics at okemos marathon in okemos, michigan discovered the issue. They said it was highly unusual for this to happen at this low mileage. I paid $152.39 for the service and replacement of this part, which was only available from the dealer because of the unusual nature of the issue.
