severe NHTSA 10V039000 February 9, 2010

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2010 Toyota prius and Lexus hs250h passenger vehicles

Vehicle stopping distances may increase relative to a customer's expectation increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will rewrite the programming of the ABS control unit free of charge. The safety recall began on march 3, 2010, and is expected to be completed in late march 2010. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 and Lexus at 1-800-255-3987.
severe NHTSA 13V235000 June 5, 2013

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2010 Prius vehicles manufactured March 31, 2009, through October 9, 2009; and model year 2010 Lexus HS250h vehicles manufactured June 19, 2009, through October 9, 2009

As nitrogen is released into the brake fluid, the brake pedal may have reduced hydraulic pressure. Under certain circumstances, this condition could affect stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected brake booster pump assemblies. The recall began on August 7, 2013. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

How do I check if my Toyota Prius has open recalls?

Paste your VIN into the decoder at the top of this page. We pull live from NHTSA, so you'll see exactly which campaigns apply to your vehicle and whether the dealer has logged the fix. Recall repairs are always free regardless of mileage or warranty status.

Is an extended warranty worth it on a 2010 Toyota Prius?

Math is straightforward: a quality service contract runs $1,800–3,500 over 3 years. With 2,819 complaints on file and the costliest repair averaging $450, one major failure more than pays for it. The catch is reading the contract — many providers exclude wear items and require pre-authorization, so cheaper plans are not always better value.
