When starting the vehicle the power steering will not engage. After one or more tries it will finally engage. On more than one occasion the steering disengaged while backing out of the driveway and had to be stopped and restarted as above. My local garage found error code b1342 and confirmed by a Ford dealer. The code mean the steering column must be replaced. The dealer said the vehicle in not covered by the recaĺl 14s05. I spoke to Ford customer service and a case # was opened. When I called to inquire kevin said a case should not have been opened and an internal inquiry would be started. Ford obviously doesn't want complaints recorded. This is a Ford mistake and a safety issue and should be corrected at their expense. Ford executives are unaccountable and apparently only worried

Car would not start. Once started, power steering completely out. Had to drive home with no power steering.once power steering came on a day later, air is not working.
While driving the car there was a loss of power steering. Drove home on local city streets with difficulty. The next day the power steering was available after starting the car. Checked on internet and found that Ford has had a problem for years with the model vehicle. Went to the Ford dealer and was told that the vehicle was out of warrenty. Called Ford service rep and was told to have the vehicle checked and that because of the low mileage, they may repair it.

While backing from a drive the traction control light came on and I lost power/electronic steering. I have driven older vehicles without power steering but this was twice as hard to turn. I had to drive home and had to make sure traffic was clear at intersections to avoid other traffic when turning since I could not avoid going into opposing lanes. Reset itself later but went back out a week later while driving approximately 35 much and hit a small amount of slush. Limped it to the dealership. Had my wife been driving she probably would not have been able to control it. Reviews online show this is not an isolated problem and has been happening since at least 2008 that I can see. Although it did not result in a crash the possibility does increase if this happened at higher speeds. *

Driving on 5 lanre paved road at 50 MPH when engine lost power did not stall. No throttle response. Was able to shift into neutral and coast into parking lot shut off engine and restarted problem went away. Took to dealer 3 days later where throttle body was replaced under warranty. *tr
I have already filed one complaint regarding the throttle body on my 2011 Ford escape. I had to pay out of pocket to have it fixed in july and 3 weeks after I paid to have it fixed it started messing up again. The throttle body hasn't gone out again but it bogs down like it is going to shut off at any given second. And also with the part malfunctioning it wreaks havoc on my gas mileage. Before the part messed up and was replaced I was average about 370 miles on a tank of gas and now I am only getting about 266. The part in under warranty but they won't replace it until it goes completely out. It only has a 12 month or 12000 mile warranty on it and I am afraid that it is going to go out after the warranty has expired and I will be left footing the bill again. Also when it bogs down t
Car stalled. Wrench and engine light came on. We were going down a road that had no place to pull over. We were stuck in the middle of the road. Turned off car and restarted but was very slow to start. We turned around and went back home and it did it several more times. Called local Ford dealership and is going to cost over $400 to fix. This is a very dangerous problem and the part should be recalled. *tr

I noticed some extreme fogging and a strange smell in my car. The car had just turned over 75,000, and was out of warranty. I took it to my mechanic who said the heater coil had gone out. So, he diconnected the heater coil. After that, the engine fans were running loudly. About 2-3 months later, the fan assemby broke-a piece of the assemby came off. All this occured while driving.

cruise control 1 complaint shown
While driving on interstate the vehicle suddenly lost power and stalled to a very slow speed. I was able to safely exit the highway and pulled into a parking lot with engine barely running. After turning engine off and preparing to call aaa, tried starting engine and it ran fine. The check engine light came on and I took the car for a code check. Code was p2111 throttle actuator stuck open. I am just going out of warranty (30 days ago is 3rd anniversary of purchase) and feel this is a manufacturing defect that should be covered beyond the warranty. Had this happened with traffic close behind at 70 MPH, there could have been a serious accident as the slowing was dramatic without touching the brakes. This condition is a serious safety hazard. *tr

The engine cradle mount that holds the lower control arm failed because of severe rot but only one mount is rotted, very localized. Have picture of failed piece. The broken mount cause the passenger side front tire to move independently from the drive side wheel and makes it have hard to steer straight. Called dealer and it’s a very well known problem, you guys did a recall with early models and all ford did was put a brace in and didn’t address the extreme rot in the engine cable. Has not been inspected by anyone but picture shows the issue, problem exist on passenger side only
airbags 1 complaint shown
I just got off the freeway on ramp and slowed for traffic. Traffic just started to go so, I just took my foot of the brake and slowly proceeded to move, when out of nowhere I was thrown forward and out of my seat. The violent impact pushed my vehicle into a truck in front of me, that impact caused me to fly backwards and my driver's seat broke. My concern is that the airbags didn't go off and my seat broke causing injury. The seat should have never broke. *tr
lighting 1 complaint shown
The lights, interior and exterior, went out while we were driving. It has happened four more times since then. It is happening more frequently in recent months. We took it to the dealer and they couldn't find a problem. *tr
