2011 GMC Sierra owner complaints

Takata recall no action taken to replace the air bags and told when I called that it was low priority vehicle.

Gm is not fixing the recalled takata airbags, and I am not able to sell or drive the vehicle.

Takata recall. The vehicle was built with defective air bag safety devices. To date (12/15/2017) there is still no remedy to fix/replace/repair the air bag system on the vehicle per dealership or manufacturer.

Takata recall. My GMC pickup received a recall on the takata airbag in 2016. As of today, GMC says they don't have a fix for it and don't know when they will. This is not a satisfactory answer. If problems arise from these airbags, I will be contacting a lawyer and GMC will have a lawsuit. I believe the airbags should be replaced. This is a big safety issue!

NHTSA docket # 2016-0124. NHTSA 16v381. Gm recall #2049151. How long is a reasonable timeframe for a safety recall to be or the acted on? This recall was issued in may 2016, you and gm just want to set on it while I am driving a unsafe truck. What happened to the august 2017 decision date to get general motors to fix this problem with my 2011 gm sierra air bag. They claim no one has been killed "yet", what's the number to get them to act or the NHTSA to make them do the right thing. If safety is so important why has it been 3 1/2 years with no fix, I have not even got a letter from them telling me I have a recalled air bag on my truck, I guess they don't want people to know, it might cost them some money.

Dash board is cracking around passenger airbag and airbag light is now on.

Dashboard cracked at corner of passenger airbag. December 22, 2020. The vehicle was in the garage. I noticed it as soon as I got in to drive it.

Dashboard has completely cracked and fallen apart. I fear safety if airbag were to deploy, that there would be plastic pieces that could directly damage passengers in the car. I am also very disappointed at the cost to repair the dash and the value that is lost from the truck because of the cracked dash issue.

I may have a illegal auxiliary emission control devise result in excess emissions of nitrogen oxides that are similar to those made against Volkswagen and 2011 GMC sierra duramax diesel truck. General motors may have intentionally installed an electrical 'cheat devices ' producing passing emission results.

My dashboard is cracked in three places. Twice around the passenger air bag and the other is above the instrument panel. The two around the air bag happened in august of 2013 and the one around the dash just happened nov 25, 2016. I have kept a sun visor covering it when it was not in the garage. I am now concerned that this has become a safety hazard.

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra Standard Cab pickup truck. I’m a disabled veteran and have this as my primary vehicle. The frame has a huge hole that developed and will need repair. The frame is rotted and soon will not pass inspection. The truck looks brand new but Engin compartment, frame and tow parts have rotted. I had the leaf spring separated from rotted frame on the highway. I swerved and almost died. GMC must replace the frame to make this right. Soon I will have no truck after giving GMC so much money. It’s criminal what they have done.

The contact stated that the driver and passenger side door handles had to be replaced approximately a year ago. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was invalid. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

Tl* the contact owns 2011 GMC sierra 1500. The contact was driving 50 MPH when the vehicle hesitated and was slow to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they advised that there were no failures and the vehicle was operating as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 1,500 updated 02/23/11 *bf the consumer stated the vehicle would hesitate on acceleration. Whenever he attempted to accelerate, the engine would lag behind for a split second. When the engine did engage, the drive train would bang from the engine accelerating. The consumer also stated the vehicle would not hold in steady speed high gear. The transmission would continually go between 5th and 6th gear. When in 6th gear, the vehicle would lose speed. 11/2022 shift cable separated from shift lever; preventing ability to put vehicle Into park. Retaining clip deteriorated allowing separation. Fortunately it happened when leaving parking garage and not moving fast. Was able to refasten using zip-tie until new retaining clip arrived at auto parts store.

When I put the truck in 4wd the dash says service stabilitrak and the traction control light and abs light come on

The dealer (don brown Chevrolet, inc. 2244 s kingshighway blvd, st. Louis, mo 63110; (314) 222-0363) who stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall regarding this matter. The vehicle had not been officially diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware and confirmed what the dealer stated. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Second report - sudden acceleration. 2011 GMC sierra pu truck. On december 20, 2010 I was traveling to visit friends. While on highway I set the cruise control for 70 MPH. I exited the freeway and traveled approximately 5 miles on city streets. Upon entering a bedroom township known for speed traps I attempted to engage the cruise control for 30 MPH. When pressing the cruise control to set the speed I was traveling (30 MPH) the truck down shifted and accelerated rapidly (to 4000 RPM). I immediately tapped the brake and the cruise control disengaged. This is the second time for this truck to down shift and accelerate rapidly. A previous report was made in november 2010. *tr
