Noticed a loud noise from rear of vehicle while driving. The greater the speed the louder the noise. Dealer inspection confirmed rear differential failing and needs replacement. Vehicle has 38,000 miles and still has the original factory tires. Rear differential failing before original tires are wore out! Potential total failure of rear differential during operation a real safety concern.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear differential failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

When driving feels like the car get in to neutral suddenly the revolutions get all the way up and the car does not advace, does not run normal until I do manually change gears. Recently began hearing a noise from the rear when driving. Thought it might be from the rear alignment causing the tire tread to make this sound. Driving faster the noise would get louder. Took to my mechanic for alignment and they said it was the rear differential going out. The bearings were making the loud noise. The vehicle only has 70,400 miles and is driven 10 miles a day and never off road. Looked for any recall notice I may have missed and then discovered this same situation from several others. I entered my VIN to check for any recalls and there are none! Surely this vehicle was built to better specs. For this to fail so early in the life (mileage) of the vehicle is unacceptable and needs to be repaired by the manufacturer at n/c. I'm certain there are many more than tho

01/11/2018 71,000 mi ODI #11062291.0

The rear differential needs replaced at only 71k miles - dealership has quoted a cost of $6,000.00. This is apparently a very common problem for the lr2 and land rover has issued a tsb but will not perform a recall and fix this known issue and factory defect.

I had just driven 3 hours to chicago from galesburg, I was prepared to enter 90/94 at stoney island , but I decided to stop off because my cell phone was not charging my cigarette lighter was not working. I know enough about cars to change a little fuse. I popped my hood to check out the fuses, to replace it. I pulled the fuse for the lighter it was not blown, I put it back. I decided time is getting late, forget it, I will buy and external charger in indiana. When I replaced the fuse cover and closed the hood. The car would not start, the bcs warning came up, and the hazards began flashing, and crash warning light came up. I could not push brakes, turn steering wheel, turn off lights, remove key, put in neutral, lock car or start the car. I had to get towed to the lr dealership in chi

I purchased a 2011 lr2 and the bluetooth system is useless at highway speeds. It is hard to hear callers at speeds of 45mph+ and callers often complain that the sound is distorted, or that it sounds like the windows are down. I have taken it in to be looked at by the dealer, but no fix was made. I also contacted corporate land rover and they were no help. *tr
