DRIVING 60MPH ON BUSY 3-LANE HIGHWAY, I/HEARD A LOUD BANG FROM THE ENGINE THEN LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO 'MUSCLE' THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE, SLOWED AND WENT DIRECTLY TO THE MILLER DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THIS SAME THING HAD HAPPENED TO OTHERS DUE TO "COLD WEATHER" THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPORT THIS EVENT. (ST. CLOUD, MN). *TR

THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED AT THE DEALER WHERE PURCHASED NEW. OVER 6 YEARS THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. THE 2 MOST SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS WAS THE FAILURE OF THE RACK & PINION MECHANISM. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND MENTIONED A NOISE THINKING IT IS THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR OUT OF THE REPAIR SHOP AS IT WAS UNSAFE.
