2013 Honda CR-V owner complaints

Taken to lancaster, ca Honda and they said front rotors have become warped/heated. Need to resurface rotors and clean and re-lube front brakes pads. Front brake pads at 7mm. Having under twenty thousand miles, was told this would cost me $120.00. I feel this has a defective braking system and should be taken care of by Honda, not charged to the customer. *tr

When parking brake was not released, there was no brake light and no beeper sounds (according to the manual, I checked later). *tr

Pulled into driveway and was a couple of feet away from the garage door, going only one or two MPH,put foot on brake to stop and suddenly the car lurch forward,press as hard as I could on brake pedal,but car kept moving forward till it hit garage door,then everything stopped. You can see by the marks on the driveway that the front tires were spinning forward while the rear tires were locked ( because I had hard pressure on the brake pedal) and slid a few feet, we have taken pictures of the car and driveway and will try to send to you. I am fearful of driving this car because if it happens again while at a traffic light or parking lot or similar, it could be life threatening

While coming home into my driveway as I came up the driveway I was stopping by a the front door the car suddenly lurched forward just before I came to a full stop,and hit garage door, which shook me up as my foot was on the brake pedal, I had pushed the pedal hard but still the car moved forward, afterwards we moved the car back and you can see where the front tires are spinning forward and the rear tires are locked up sliding forward showing that indeed my foot was pressing hard on the brake pedal, called my local dealer and had the car towed to them, they have not been able to find anything wrong with the car. Pressing on the brakes in slippery conditions like snow causes the antilock brakes to lock up and the car to skid. This happens at all speeds- even as low as 15mph.

Defective door locking systems in 2013 Honda cr-v vehicle. We have had to replace 3 door lock actuators on our 2013 cr-v and now have had a 4th door lock actuator go bad. We have spoken with american Honda, and they informed us that the actuator is not defective. Well, if it is not defective, then why is it not working? We asked to speak to a manager, and were informed that the manager would tell us the same thing. We have spoken with other Honda owners of different vehicles, and they are also experiencing door lock actuator problems with their vehicles, whether it be a cr-v, accord, civic, etc. My previous 2008 Honda civic had to have 12 door lock actuators replaced. First, second and third incident, pertained of all 4 doors locking and unlocking repeatedly, by themselves while the vehicle was in drive, going down the freeway and on surface streets. The most reent incident was 12/16/13. The vehicle would not unlock. I used both the after market remote start fob, the fob on the original factory key and also the manual unlock by putting the key in the door. After 2 hours of constantly pushing buttons and checking all entrances to the vehicle, the vehicle unlocked on it's own, without pushing any of the buttons. My 15 month old child and I were literally stranded for these 2 hours until a tow truck could come to us. The high beam headlights on this vehicle and my daughter's similar car are a defective design. There are many complaints already regarding this. The only way you can see decently is with a combination of low beams and driving lights. *tr

Vehicle shakes and stutters when accelerating between 0-30 MPH, which is apparently a known and common issue.

The car periodically shudders during acceleration on smooth road services over the last 2 years. Initially, I thought the vibration was due to changes in road surface. However, I notice the vibration or shuddering occurs with acceleration-in 2nd or 3rd gear. When I take my foot off the gas pedal, the vibration/shuddering disappears. Other family members were telling me this is a transmission problem when this problem first occurred. On Honda vehicle blogs, I see this complaint is echoed by other 2013 Honda CRV owners. I contacted Honda today. They told me there is no national campaign or recall for my vehicle regarding this issue. When the car is cold at 30 MPH the car vibrates. Dealer reset software on transmission. Did not fix problem. Now they are going to replace rear driveshaft.

Hi beams are very ineffective and dangerous. They shine too high and light up the trees but not the road ahead. Live in a very rural area with many deer and this is of concern. If the dealer lowers the beam then that makes the low beams worse where they were ok. So adjusting the height of the hi beam is not the solution as it then makes the low beam too low. It's more a design flaw with the reflectors I believe. Only really noticed the issue once we changed daylight savings time and I started driving more at night on rural roads. Which now being winter is more and more common for me so it is a concern when having to use the hi beams. *tr

When high beams are on, the low beams go off making it very difficult to see for 25 to 30 feet. If a child or a dog were to run in front of the auto I wouldn't have enough reaction time to avoid hitting them. *tr

On 11/30/15 our 2013 Honda crv was taken to fox Honda in grand rapids, mi to have the driver air bag and power lock recall repairs performed. On 12/15/15 my daughter was traveling at approximately 50 MPH when the truck in front of her slammed on it's breaks but the trailer lights were not working so the crv squarely impacted the rear of the trailer with significant force. The passenger airbag deployed but the driver airbag did not. The radiator, engine and frame were damaged so the car was totaled. We filed complaint #04347205 with Honda explaining that the insurance adjuster and the body shop workers both believed that the air bag should have deployed. My airbag lights are on and I took it into Honda. They got the light to go off but it came back on again. They said I needed to replace the airbags??? I do not understand, I have owned hondas for a long time and have never had this problem? Why should I have to replace airbags when they have never been used?

I bought a 2013 Honda cr-v vehicle a few months ago. I have notice that the sun visors are too short. I had to come to a complete stop several times at sun rise and sun set because I was blinded by the sun. I have owned a Honda van and a Toyota care and never had this problem where I live. I called the Honda dealer in frankfort, ky and they said no one else was having the problem. I call Honda customer service (nation wide) and they said no one had reported the problem and wanted me to go back to the dealer in frankfort. I went on the internet and found other people have had the same problem and tried to use after market solution which is a visor extender. I am 5' 8" tall. I would need to be over 6 feet in order for the visors to be effective. It either a low seat problem

The windshield washer on this vehicle and my daughter's similar car are a defective design. They do not work in the cold. Also the wipers are ineffective. This leads to unsafe driving conditions. *tr

Upon initial startup of the engine there is a grinding sound. This particular issue has only occurred twice and hard to replicate unless it's very cold. At first it sounded like a starter issue, but others have said it's the vtc actuator and an oil pressure issue when it's cold outside. Even though my car is garaged it has occurred twice in two weeks so it is a concern. Dealership will not do anything unless they can replicate it. Honda paint is stripping right off the body. Honda paint is fading and losing metallic finish. Honda paint has other recalls but not my make and model.

I purchased at 2013 Honda crv from pohanka in salisbury md with 30k miles. The other day I noticed my driver side vents were blowing cold air with the heat on.I took the car to the dealership where they told me it was the heater core and was going to cost me 400$ I purchased bumper to bumper warranty on this vehicle which should cover that expensive but doesn't. I've done a lot of research and have found that this particular model has a tsb 14-063 which states a factory defect.factory!
