Takata recall no parts available, and no idea when airbag will be available.

11/07/2017 ODI #11044091.0

"takata recall" in april of 2016 we were notified by our dealer of the air bag safety recall for our driver side airbag inflator. Parts were not available, but we would be notified when replacement parts would be available. It is now 19 months later and we have not been notified. This seems like an unreasonable amount of time to obtain parts to replace the defective unit.

"takata airbag" I purchased a 2013 mercedez sprinter 3500 van that had been converted through winnebago industries in forest city ia. When I exported/imported the vehicle into canada, I was unable to register the motorhome, due to the takata air bag recall. The registry of motor vehicle in nova scotia, canada has granted me a temporary permit for 2017 only, I have been unable to receive any sort of time line as to the approximate date that this recall will be repaired. I was told in october of 2016 by Mercedes benz usa that they expected the repair would be completed by july/august of 2016. When contacted today they said they have no timeline that they could share indicating when this tacata airbag recall would be completed. Mbusa has known about this recall for approximately 3 years

1 rear wheel speed sensors failed 2 years ago 2 rear wheel speed sensors failed two weeks ago.0

10/19/2020 36,000 mi ODI #11365194.0

I have had two failures of a rear speed sensor which have caused a loss of anti lock braking, traction control, and cruise control. The most recent failure on oct 14, 2020 also resulted in some erratic transmission shifting. All of these things impact the safety of the vehicle. In both failures the vehicle was traveling at highway speeds.

10/14/2020 32,000 mi ODI #11364346.0

Wheel sensors failure causes loss of ABS braking , cruise control and traction control. When this occurs causes the vehicle to go into limp mode and rapid reduction of speed. All of the above causes a hazardous situation on the freeway. We have had 2 fail and many of our friends have experienced cthe same.

10/08/2018 20,000 mi ODI #11139000.0

Rear wheel speed sensor failure. I have had to replace a rear wheel speed sensor in each of the last 3 years. When the sensor fails the ABS system stops operating. Cruise control is disabled and traction control is disabled. Vehicle is still drivable, but safety systems are lost until repaired. Based on web searches this is a very common problem for this vehicle and model year. I have not had a dangerous incident when the sensor gave out though I have had to deal with some uncommanded braking.

Brake pedal is spongy and must be pumped to get a firm pedal. I have taken it to the dealer twice and complained about this issue, and they tell me everything is normal. When you have to make a sudden surprise stop the pedal goes all the way to the floorboard.

09/28/2015 ODI #10778175.0

Brakes are soft and spongy. When depressed, the pedal will travel to the floor making it difficult to stop. The dealer replaced the master cylinder and brake booster in march, 2015, but that did not change the operation of the brakes. My understanding from visiting several forums is that this a common complaint from other sprinter owners, yet Mercedes benz says they have no knowledge of brake issues with the vehicles. The brakes are dangerous as they currently operate.

Wheel speed sensor failure. 5 sensors replaced on 4 different occasions. I cannot find the first invoice for the henderson nevada wheel speed sensor repair but here are the other three... 7/25/2016 spokane washington- @25232 miles, replace both front wheel speed sensors, 2/6/2018 reno nevada- @29593 miles, replace right rear wheel speed sensor, 7/13/2018 spokane washington- @ 31575 miles left rear wheel speed sensor. As far as I'm conserned, the vehicle cannot be relied upon for travel. Look at the mile between repairs. A time oriented warranty does not apply to a milage based part on a vehicle. The failures occured while driving on paved highways. Mercedes benz denied my lemon law claim.
