When driving the 2014 explorer, coking over a hill and began braking. Car lost braking capability and began to speed down the hill, and crashed into a tree. One middle occupant on 2nd row came unbuckled and didn't survive. This has been an ongoing trial for 3 years and recently informed that no investigation has been performed on the vehicle other than the edr/cdr. No post vehicle inspection has been performed, no medical reports have been pulled. I have previously for 3 years inquired for help on this matter and have forwarded questions regarding information obtained. I know without a shadow of a doubt I am not liable for this accident and have worked for 3 years trying to obtain information on this vehicle. When I was coming down the hill the car seem to be increased in speed - the re

The steering began to make a rubbing sound and then turning became difficult. I also received a traction control failure warning. When the vehicle was taken to the Ford dealership where it was purchased I was told that it’s a common failure of the steering rack (over $2,000 repair) and that there were complaints but no recall. I have since taken the vehicle home and parked it until I decide whether to make the repair.
Hello, yes my vehicle is available upon inspection request. Bell Ford(recall performed) and another shop has inspected the vehicle for the power steering issue. *I had a toe link recall completed at Bell Ford in May, 2022. Since then my vehicle has not been driving as smoothly. Please add this recall back to my vehicle. *The radio/ climate control screen updates and sometimes just goes black when I start the vehicle. Sometimes can take up to 5 mins to turn back on. Please add this to the recall list for my vehicle. *Forward collision warning never worked. ***The power steering went out while myself and my daughter were driving on a busy state highway. I was not going over 60 mph per speed limit. 3 alarms went off while driving. My SUV instantly became very hard to handle. There is no
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Ford explorer. While driving 35 MPH, the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact managed to drive home at low speeds. The vehicle was turned off and restarted, but it did not return to normal. Dave smith Ford, llc (4045 transit rd, williamsville, ny 14221, (716) 634-2000) was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact was informed to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 14v286000(steering). The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Steering gear failure. Ford dealer estimate $2,900 to replace the entire steering gear. A new part is not available, and there is no ETA on re-manufactured parts. The vehicle is unsafe to drive, and therefore unusable. There are recalls on 2011-2013 and 2015-2019 electronic assist steering gear systems for the same exact issue, why was 2014 was excluded, why does the vehicle require the entire steering gear after only 7 years of use, and why wont Ford take responsibility for a known failing and dangerous product. Ford CRC case # CAS34688035 has refused to take responsibility or assist.
I have a 2014 Ford explorer sport with a steering issue that needs to be resolved. The steering jars to the left when driving at a speed of 55 or so on curves. If a car is ever coming towards me I hope to god my explorer doesn't decide to mar to the left at that point. Also, the grinding sound coming from the rack is a faulty part that should be a recall at this point as it is a safety issue the Ford should look at. The sound is noticeable at a complete stop but driving it is still present.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving out of the driveway at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the power steering gear was faulty. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, and the dealer replaced the power steering gear and reset the computer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.

Exhaust smell in passenger compartment while driving; similar to sulfur. Feel safety at risk due to smell causing headaches/nausea; concerned about carbon monoxide or other hazardous materials. Vehicle brought to dealer on 12/13/2021 and issue confirmed. Dealer aware of similar complaints across this vehicle type; TSB is available, so Ford is aware, however not catagorized by Ford as a safety issue. Dealer "reset" HVAC system, installed plugs on tailgate and installed tape on rear body module. Dealer stated additional repairs may be necessary as these "fixes" don't always work. No warning lamps, messages or other notifications. Issue first began November 27, 2021.
Upon hard acceleration my 2014 Ford explorer has exhaust fumes enter into the vehicle. I tested with both the ac on recirc and recirc off and it happens either way. I have already had the vehicle in the Ford shop with this problem and a tsb was performed with no improvements. *js

My APillar molding piece flew off the passenger side of my wind shield. I’m scared the other side will do the same thing and I don’t want anyone to get hurt but I have to use my car. I have been waiting 6 months for the parts… Also, whenever it rains my floorboards flood from water leaking through my windshield and could possibly get into my electronics as well.
My husband and I were driving onto the highway, going less than 50 MPH, when we heard a very loud explosion that rattled our heads and made our ears ring. There wasn't anything that hit us or that had fell on sunroof at all so we were both in shock as to what had happened. We both looked up to see that our front sun roof had exploded and in a quick panic we tried to shut the sunroof to keep the glass from falling on us but were not able to close it in enough time and glass fell all over us and flew into the back hitting our kids. We took the next exit to nearest gas station to stop and make sure no one was bleeding or cut. The explosion was so loud we were all shaken up. Luckily there was a nearby car wash to vacuum the debris off of everyone and calm down the scare that put us in panic.

Car has exhaust fumes coming into the vehicle Ford has an internal bulletin on this issue but is still charging customers to fix the issue if over the 36,000. The exhaust pipes need to be redone, additional insulation along with a muffler that points down vs pointing up into the vehicle. Ford is not rushing to fix this carbon monoxide issue!
The dealer had to replace the cracked exhaust, manifold/caralytic converter asmy. I was told that if this was not corrected fumes could get into the car. This is the same problem Ford is having with the police explorers. I have heard that Ford is paying to have these repair. I wrote to Ford and they told me that they would not pay for this. Ford states "ther are no warranties in effect that would provide assistance for your concern" (marsha boyd).. Why are the police vehicles being repair?

At one point the Explorer was always causing a rear wheel area to squeal really loud while driving. That finally got remedied but after 3 years of taking the vehicle in to 2 different shops. While yhe vehicle was still under warranty I was told there was nothing wrong and they can't reproduce the squeal. Once the warranty expired they said it was due to a seized brake which I ended up paying for the replacement even though they said this was a known issue on the Explorers. Another issue with the 2014 Explorer is water leaking into the rear compartments and the spare tire area in the vehicle. From online sear he's, this is also a known issue with no recalls. More recently, I was trying to get all four of my tires changed, but was told by the tire shop that they can't change my tires due t

The water pump in my 2014 Ford explorer 3.5l v6 engine began leaking coolant. The water pump had to be replaced at 79,000 miles. I became aware of this problem after getting an oil change. The coolant reservoir had to be filled and I was informed of a possible coolant leak. Two weeks after getting the coolant filled, my radiator fan began running fast and loud. I brought it into the shop and was told I had a leaking water pump. There was only one inch left of coolant in the reservoir after just being filled up. I was then told it would take 14-16 hours of labor to replace the water pump which itself costs less than $150. I was referred by the shop to the dealership because the work needed was extensive and because it involved a Ford part. The dealership refused to pay for the repairs and r

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Ford explorer. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer to have diagnostic testing performed. The test located failure codes at the rear passenger air bag sensor and the rear driver's air bag sensors wiring system. The dealer advised that, in the event of a crash, the rear passenger and rear driver's air bags may not deploy. The dealer replaced the rear passenger and rear driver's air bag sensors. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.

I am not complaining about my own vehicle but others. In the last year, it seems that 99% of cars I see with no headlights on are newer model fords, all products. It used to be something seen once a week or so but now I see this several times a day. I am filing a complaint now because I just saw a 2014 Ford explorer police car with no headlights on. This is an issue that is so prevalent that it points to something more serious and consistent than driver ignorance and more to poor design of headlight switch or headlight programming issues.
