2014 Honda Accord owner complaints

The starter failed after only 35,000 miles. It is available for inspection upon request. Problem was diagnosed and starter replaced by Firestone Car Care in late November 2022. Problem first detected in early November 2022 and became increasingly frequent that the car would not start. Was stranded a few times and other times had to try starting the car multiple times over the course of several minutes. No warning lights, messages or symptoms prior to failure. Vehicle has not been inspected by police, manufacturer or insurance agent.

3 lights illuminated on my dash, traction control, power steering, and TPMS. Dealer says its the ABS module. At only 53,000 miles, I believe this is premature failure. Poor design on Honda behalf. Same with the small OEM battery Honda puts in these vehicles. Also failed prematurely. Honda needs to issue recall for ABS module. Vehicle was in park and took 5 attempts to start the vehicle, vehicle would start and stall, after 5 attempts vehicle stayed on with 3 warning lights and was able to drive away.

While driving the vehicle, stalling, and braking hard the electronic power steering, vehicle stability assist, forward collision warning, antilock braking system, lane departure warning and parking brake indicator lights all activated. I took the vehicle to my mechanic who diagnosed a faulty vsa modulator control unit. When I attempted to order the part we were informed that the part is backordered 3-6 months.

Trunk lid pops open shortly after driving off...red light on dashboard comes on...I have to stop the car and close the lid manually. Same thing happens erratically in parked condition..have noticed trunk lid open after returning to the parking lot happens randomly but fairly often....have checked my key for proper operation. My car kept shutting down.I had to keep jumping it every time I started it. I took it to shop and they made me pay $130 for new battery. I feel it was related to battery recall and I shouldnt have had to pay. But they said there was a bad cell in it and it wasnt related to the recall

Rear view camera display suddenly stopped working. Guidelines are there but no rear picture. Dealer says its a bad camera but may be a ploy to mak some money.

I took my car to Honda dealership 2 weeks ago.they reprogram a key and replace a recall sensor, so I was told. They also did a system update.since then I have had multiple issue with my car. 1st was a charging system warning, which I thought was my alternator or battery, but they said was nothing. Three days ago I got into my car to start it and it would not start stated " fcw system failed" after 3 attempts its started but acceleration would not respond. Rmp stayed below 2000 even with my foot deep on the gas pedal. I turn the car off and let it sit for for 20 mins , then it accelerator came back. But fwc and all service lights stayed on. Vehicle was parked in aparking lot as I had to do a quick errand at costco. Car was turned off with fan running. My wife stayed back in the car. After I came back after about 15-20 mins, the trunk wont open and all dashboard lights in car were off. Car wont start at all. I tried starting for few mins without fail. Luckily I could jump start the car using the jump start kit in costco tire centre. I took in the car to dealer as this had happened before and battery had to be replaced. This time around everything was ok. Dealer advised me to not run the accesories without car engine running. Dealer mentioned that in order to keep car weight low, manufacturers are switching to smaller and smaller batteries. I've noticed that the car is consuming oil at least 1 quart before 1k miles. I took it to the dealer at yonkers Honda on 12/28/2018 and the service representative advised to bring back the car at 1k miles for an oil consumption test.

As soon as my warranty ran out, a little over 3 yrs and close to 40,000 miles, my starter went bad. Since it was not under warranty, we had the starter replaced in late 2017. My starter started making noises again and would not start sporadically within a year. It has gradually started happening more frequently. My car is 5 yrs old and has 90 000 + miles, and is going to need a 2nd starter replaced. Something has to be burning up my starter.

Something in connection with engine loss there where around 300 cats recalled was just wondering if ours was one of them please email me back on this issue as I want to take care of this matter asap.it sayys they might have to replace my block at no charge.

I'm trying to file a complaint about the 2014 Honda accord having a defective starter!! My starter went out on my car today and apparently it's very common problem on my year of Honda accord! Why hasn't Honda issued a recall on their starters for the 2014 Honda accords???? My neighbor is a licensed mobile mechanic and just confirmed that yes my starter is bad and I will need a new one! I don't have any documentation to upload because he did not charge me since we are next door neighbors! Putting vehicle in reverse, the car jerked and shut off thenstarted on own. Repeated twice. This happened once while making a broken u turn in a culdesac, the other was in my parking spot.

Oil life at 40%. Car was making noise. While driving and pressed on brakes ...oil pressure light would turn on and off. Checked oil on car. No drop of oil in the engine. Excessive oil consumption. No leaks.. Carbon found on cylinders, inside engine and on pinston rings. This is not normal especially when consistent oil changes, fuel injection was cleaned, and CVT transmission is also replaced consistently. I just bought the car 6months ago. Engine is currently dismantled and warranty does not cover! Completely upsetting!

Since I bought the car I've had problems with the car staying on and running , when I come to turn it on , it shuts off. I have taken it to Honda dealers and they don't see anything wrong with it.

Electronic power steering failure at less than 90,000 miles. Had we been driving at a higher speed, we and others on the road would have been seriously injured or killed. Without any warning, the electronic power steering failed and it was nearly impossible to steer. It took all my strength to turn the steering wheel.

Went christmas shopping, came out of best buy and started car to go home, noticed that the steering wheel would not turn. Turned car off, restarted and noticed the same thing. While trying to turn it, it pulsates, as if the system is acting up. Used uber to get home. Came back the next day, the same thing. Did some research on google, the only way to bypass power steering is to pull the fuse so we pulled the fuse and drove car home in manual steering mode. Checked car with obd2 scanner, no codes. Called Honda and they said these cars don't have steering problems. However, when I checked on google, it looks like Honda has had a lot of problems with steering issues in the 2013/2014 accord.

No accident involved . Warning lights pop up on dashboard. Honda diagnosed that my ABS modulator need to be replaced. I have seen many comments online that many people are experiencing this problem. Fix is very expensive and people who can least afford it are going to be driving without this problem being corrected and maybe causing accidents which could be fatal. Will provide diagnosis by dealer if requested.
