2014 Honda Odyssey owner complaints

When traveling at low speeds the car jerks and feels like you drove over something large when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. In 2nd gear there is significant loss of power and inability to sufficiently accelerate. Stopped, put car into park, tried again. Car proceeded to jerk horribly every time when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Took to the closest dealership. They were unable to replicate the problem. At times it almost felt as if the car was out of my control because of the jerking. *tr

I was pulling into a drive through on december 6, 2020. As I applied the brake (I drive with one foot - my right foot) with my right foot, the engine revved up and the van moved about 5 feet forward as I increased the brake pedal pressure. I then shifted into neutral. The engine went to red line. I pushed the power button. No one was injured, and the vehicle didn't touch anything as the drivethrough ahead of me was empty. The day before, the ldw and fcw fail light came on in the dashboard while my wife was driving. We have taken the van to the local Honda dealership for a checkout / diagnostics of what happened. Honda has opened a case on this for us: case is 11754879. No pictures or video available, unfortunately, although I am checking with fadi's at 12360 westheimer road 77077.

As I try to accelerate from a low speed, for example entering an intersection or a highway, the transmission slips and bangs into gear, causing the van to hesitate before it moves, it is a violent feeling, almost like being rear ended from another vehicle. I have brought it to the dealer numerous times and had the technician experience what I was talking about verifying something is wrong. Then when I go to pick it up after its been fixed, I am told by the manager that it is normal because no codes came up. *tr

We bought a 2014 Honda odessey it's started jerking when it was 7500 miles while driving in surface street in henderson, nv we immediately took it to the dealer have it fixed they said they updated the software then started jerking again for the 2nd time when it was 2700 miles that almost cause us into an accident while driving to los angeles. We had it towed on 11/29/15 by aaa from la to oc in our hotel because it is unsafe to drive with my kids in it. This car is dangerous because the jerks comes and go everytime we take it to the dealer they keep saying it needs an software update they kept our car at the dealer for 2 days this time they said nothing wrong with it they updated the software again. I stopped the vehicle on an inclined street to talk with a neighbor. He asked me to look at something so, I turned the ignition off not thinking the gearshift was still in the drive position. After the engine stopped I started to exit the car when it began to roll. I applied the brakes then restarted the car and shifted into park. This is a safety issue requiring a recall before somebody gets injured or killed.

I went to get something out of my mom's minivan using the door behind the driver's seat. The door when funtioning normally is supposed to open fully when the handle is pulled upon. Instead the when door was halfway open, it started to close. The door then to hit and crush my arm. Thankfully I was not injured. The car was parked on our concrete driveway and was turned off.

Sliding door on passanger side closes and after a few second it unlatches from strikers and the chime of the sliding door open starts to sound while driving.

The rearview camera of my Honda odyssey 2014 etouring minivan blacks out intermittently when I am parallel parking, which involves shifting gears quickly in and out of reverse and drive. Once the screen blacks out, it says black unless I restart the engine and it gets stressful when you are in the middle of parallel parking on a busy street with cars waiting behind you and you can't see the rear of the car. Bought van and only had it a few months before the keyless start, would not start. Attempted for a whole minute, then finally the keyless start worked. I took it to the shop and they could not find any problems with it, basically they told me perhaps it was user error, but I am not an idiot, I made sure the brake was pressed, the gear was in park correctly, and the key was out and close enough for the car to recognize the key was in the car, however, the car doors unlocked fine with the key. Then a few weeks later, while driving there was a "no key" light on, however the key was in the car, and then a few weeks after that the dash board and radio screens were black for approx. 2 hrs, I took it to the dealership repair shop again only to be told there wasn't anything they could find wrong

I went to dinner with my husband on a friday night, and when we returned to our van, the doors unlocked we got into the van and the keyless start would not work. We tried for 3-5 minutes, no luck, this happened a few months ago, we again did everything to ensure it was not user error (in which the dealership blamed when they said nothing was wrong with the van the previous time). The fuses keep having to be replaced because when it transitions from eco to regular the car stutters and the engine light comes on and starts blinking. I then have to turn off the car and restart it. The car only goes up to like 20mph the slowly increases then decreases again the light comes back on. This began happening about 6 months ago but maybe a little bit beforehand...not exactly sure of the exact date. The first time it happened I was driving to work.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and who diagnosed that the spark plug needed to be replaced and the cylinder was leaking oil, which caused the spark plug failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred on three different occasions. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The contact stated that the mechanic called the dealer and was informed that the 2013 models were experiencing the same failure. I just went to a professional auto mechanics and they have confirmed that my 2014 Honda Odessey engine has the same symtoms and noise of a connecting rod bearings failure. The engine is making a lot of engine knocking noise. and recently, the connecting rod has failed. The safety issue is that with a stall engine on freeway, it can cause serious accident. I have the car here. I wonder if NHTSA would be interested to investigate this vehicle as it would help the public to be aware that the current Honda engine recall extends to the 2014 Honda Odessey model as well.

The steering wheel shakes when braking at highway speeds. This started at about 30,000 miles. I took the car to the dealer, and they immediately said I needed the brakes resurfaced before they even drove the car. This tells me they are aware of a recurring issue. At this point it was out of warranty at 38,000 miles because I had already purchased brand new tires thinking that was the problem. I had them align the tires that day, and the shaking did not go away. Honda needs to take responsibility and recall faulty brakes. They should not need costly repairs at this low mileage.

I was driving on the highway when I heard a loud clunk. Thought I hit a bump but when I got off the highway and stopped at a light the car starting bucking between 0-30 miles per hour. It continued to do so at every start. Drove it to Honda dealership where they found nothing wrong with vehicle. Have done research on vehicle only to find numerous other complaints of same issue. This is dangerous! If I was trying to cross an intersection and it started bucking, I might not make it out of intersection on time. Please investigate this issue as Honda is saying nothing is wrong with their cars. *tr

I was driving (in motion) on slippery, wet, but icy roads in town. I was only going about 20 MPH. Twice, I had to stop slightly faster than I normally would have, but when I started tapping the brakes to slow down and stop, they felt like they locked up on me and it took awhile before I was able to have any "brake" feeling at all! The wheel walls, I noticed later have small space between tire and wheel wall, causing snow build-up, which may have caused a problem in the braking ability also. After this happened a couple more times throughout the week, my brake sensor light warning came on and has stayed on now.
