Got a letter from Kia stating that they are having problems with the bearings and rods in their 2012-2014 2.4l gdi motors, they are extending the warranty to 120,000 miles. A few months later the motor slung a rod and is now trash. Towed it to sons Kia in mcdonough, ga, they confirmed they were extending the warranty and knew this is a common problem. In fact there are 9 others sitting in the parking lot with blown motors in front of mine and they can't even build the new motors fast enough to meet the demand (they're on back order). They told me I needed to produce receipts for oil changes, from the time I bought the car. I bought it used and have only put about 20,000 miles on it (66,000 total). I changed the oil myself and didn't think about hanging onto the receipts. I was able to pro

Multiple areas where pain is chipping off. One large area on driver's side front post with de lamination of white pearl paint. Noticed it more than a year ago. Just took in for body work and it was ercomended I research for other issues that people have reported.
The paint on both sides of front window spontaneously started chipping symmetrically and bilaterally. I just noticed it one day when it was parked. It worsens with every day. Some tiny areas on the front hood are beginning to chip as well. It starts as a tiny chip then chunks start to peel off. I'm extremely dissatisfied. The Kia dealer told me that it must have been rocks that hit the car
My 2014 Kia sorento has drastically chipped on its own the paint peels off every-time I wash my car, the paint over time has gotten a lot worse.
airbags 3 complaints shown
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Kia sorento. While operating the vehicle, the passenger side air bag indicator remained illuminated, indicating a possible failure with the air bag system. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (franklin Kia in franklin, tn) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 86,000.
I took the vehicle in because the sure bag light was on. Shortly after, I recieved something in the mail from Kia about the air bag recaps so I took it in. The dealership told me my VIN wasn't covered. They said the passenger side bag is what I am having an issue with so they turned off the air bags and I've been driving with no air bags for a couple of months because they said I had to pay for it. It's $1400 and my warranty had just run it out.
My airbag light has been going on/off for a few months now, and I have contacted several Kia dealerships that have told me my car is not a part of an airbag recall, and if I want it fixed, I will have to come out of pocket to the time of about $2,000 to get this fixed. The dealerships I called, and 1 I went to in-person, told me that anything related to the airbag light is not under any type of warranty anymore, even though my car is only 5 years old. This is a safety issue, pure and simple, and is a mechanical failure that I should not be responsible for. I believe Kia is hiding something here, and I just cannot magically come up with $2k to fix this. I've seen many other complaints about other years of the sorento, and I am not happy the manufacturer is not willing to realize the iss

On nov. 11, 2020 I took this 2014 Kia sorento into the local Kia dealer for a follow up on a recall notice I received in the mail. The recall was for an inspection on the hecu unit which controls the ABS system, ESC system, and the TCS system. The dash board indicator lights for the ABS, TCS, and brakes are visible on the dash while driving this vehicle. The mechanic at the dealership performed a draw test on the ABS module and determined everything was ok and no repairs would be needed for this recall (sc197). The vehicle does not appear to be leaking brake fluid into the hecu unit. My concern about this recall is why are the ABS and traction control lights still visible on the dashboard. The recall was on these elements and Kia should have corrected any electronic problem related to thi
The engine problems I started experiencing 1.car hesitates when accelerating, 2. Knocking noise from engine, lack of power low oil pressure, when I put oil in the car, seems like the next days its low again,(empty)I spent many dollars on oil, I had the oil changed every 3 months sometimes at (Kia) because I get free oil change, and most at jiffy lube, here lately, the oil seems to be burning more, check engine light is flashing off and on , the car is unsafe to drive. The car is in my garage. 3. The back brakes went out , suddenly, coat me 500.00 dollars. Unacceptable the brakes completely , went out. There was a problem with the back brakes I was told by the Kia dealer at evergreen chicago, 4. Low mileage, charcoal canister fell off, the brackets broke off, but we tied it back up, gettin

Cluster lights turned off while driving air bag light stays on
I cannot see the speedometer needle on .bright days. I found myself staring at the speedometer trying to see my speed for way too long ( 4 seconds or more). It is extremely difficult to see the needle as it is a 1/2inch dark red tip against a dark black background. If there is any ambient light striking the instrument cluster at an angle, the reflection masks my ability to see the needle. Not having an accurate indication of my speed or staring at the speedometer for too long of a time is a very dangerous situation. The dealer said there is nothing he can do as the manufacturer will have to correct the problem. *tr

Car stopped operating while driving down interstate, and won't restart
On december 24th, around 9:30 at night, I was driving south on i25 (highway) toward denver at approximately 70 MPG. My family, including my wife, 2 boys and mother-in law were passengers. The temperature was approximately 40 degrees and I was driving straight. With no warning, a large thunderous boom sounded, similar to a gunshot. The sunroof had basically exploded. We did not know what happened as we did not go under a bridge or any other structure that could have dropped debris on the car to create such damage. I pulled over at the next exit to examine the damage and to check on the passengers. My mother in law sustained a minor cut due to the glass. There was no sign of debris or a possible bullet that could have come from a gun shot....the loud noise sounded like a gun shot. T
