This vehicle has been a nightmare for half of the time that I’ve had it. I first took it back to the Kia dealership in 2019 because of the check engine light and told them it was pulling a 420 code I knew that was a catalytic converter which had been recalled. After a few hours of having my car they told me that no repairs were needed so they marked the recall as complete. I had to continue to drive with a check engine light on for several months. I brought it back again because I needed it to be fixed in order to pass the state inspection for registration renewal . At that point they did put on a new catalytic converter. Ever since then it has been leaking or burning oil. I’m not sure how it’s gone through so much oil but the oil light has stayed on more than it’s turned off despite putti

The contact’s daughter owns a 2014 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated to approximately 40 MPH. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed of an unknown recall however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
One day it was fine, drove to louisville ky from lexington ky and noticed sporadic, weird shifting which seemed very off, shifting at the wrong time I had grown accustomed to for the previous 6 years on the way back home car would not go over 55-60 MPH and to try and force it to downshift only made the engine rev extremely high and noisy with no forward motion, car acted as though it wanted to just quit altogether, and from that point on its been bogging down like a giant sat on the hood upon pushing the accelerator to get more speed, and upon backing off 9f the accelerator pedal the loud revving noise eased up and car seemed to recover somewhat until the next acceleration...the car has hesitated, engine idle is, for the most part, ok, but 55-60 is as fast as it will go unless going do
I had the original 2.0l engine throw a rod even though I stayed up with its routine maintenance schedule. So I replaced it with a used motor that had 30000 less mi on it than the 65000 the original motor had on it. On the second motor the 1st piston disintigrated and fell into the oil pan. This was proceded by a ticking sound and eventually turned into a loud knocking sound and a intermediate loss in power, like a partially clogged catalytic converter. I highly recommend an investigation into the 2.0l engine as it is doing the exact same thing as the 1.6l engine was doing.
The engine on my Kia Soul blew about 3 months ago. My husband was driving on the highway when the car started acting funny. It lost the power to accelerate and steer. He was able to make it to a gas station where he checked all the fluids. He found there to be NO oil!! There was no indication light or warning! As a matter of fact, we had the oil changed about a month prior to the incident. We also had the car into the dealership for a recall about the knock sensor detection system, maybe 3 weeks before this happened. I'm very upset, Kia will not work with me because the car has a little over 100,000 miles. I just don't understand how the engine could have been bone dry with absolutely no indication of it. There were no oil puddles in the driveway, no smell of burning oil, and above all els
There is a 1.6 ltr engine in this vehicle, 2014 Kia soul. I find this vehicle using .5qt of oil between 1000 and 1500 miles. Is this normal? I am not the only person complaining about Kia engines using oil. By comparison I also have a Hyundai 2008 Hyundai accent with a 1.6lt engine both vehicles have about the same mileage the accent doesn't use any oil in 3000 miles, what gives? Seems like an awful lot of oil usage for a 1.6ltr.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Kia soul. While driving 50 MPH on the freeway. The engine made a weird knocking noise and the vehicle slowed down. The contact smelled a burning odor, pulled off the highway, and had the vehicle towed to sunset Kia (3401 auburn way n, auburn, wa 98002, (855) 474-9626). The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v120000 (engine and engine cooling). The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the cause was not directly related to the recall because their scanner was not reading the catalytic converter code being damaged. Because of this, the dealer refused to repair the vehicle per the recall. The manufacturer provided a case number, but stated that the final decision would have to be made by the district parts manager. The failure mileage was 87,50
My car is losing oil somewhere. Checked no leaks. Oil changed regularly and on time. Oil dip stick shows one quart low refilled. Drove car approximately 6 miles and light started flashing quickly. Parked checked oil and is once again low. No burnt oil smell but it has to be going somewhere.

After hitting a snow pile left from a snow plow I jumped the snow pile and hit a concrete barrier going between 65 and 70 MPH air bags didnt deploy. I hit it mostly on the passenger side but nothing happened still. I destroyed the bumper and the undercarriage protection is cracked but no air bags? Its not the first time from what I can see from this model that a 2014 soul with an issue with air bags. My daughter thankfully has control of her head for the most part and kept it from getting hit as we spun out on the highway. Thankfully missing any other vehicles but this is an issue Kia should be looking into.
"takata recall " I had a rear end accident and the airbags did not deploy when the rear end accident occurred on the highway I was hit from the rear and the airbags did not deploy I was moving very slowly at 45 mi per hour I believe the airbags should have deployed the police have photos

I was driving my 2014 Kia Soul on Friday 12/12 when without any warning the brakes went out. Thankfully I was able to get it to a parking lot without incident and requested a tow. After having it repaired, the mechanics stated the brake lines completely popped due to brake line corrosion. After researching this issue, I found that my Kia Soul had a Voluntary Service Campaign recall regarding the exact corrosion on the brake lines that would likely be responsible for this catastrophic failure. I was never notified of this possibility despite having my car routinely serviced in NJ and VA. This is a huge oversight on Kia’s behalf – other people with this make and model need to be notified that there could be unseen corrosion happening. Fortunately, I wasn’t on the highway when the brakes went
Brakes are loud been changed to new ones, engine makes a small sound

The headlight bulb connector has melted on the driver side and headlight no longer turns on. Passenger side still works but will need to get replaces asap.
The driver side headlight will flicker or entirely turn off. We have replaced the bulb multiple times with manufacture products and discovered the electric plug to the headlight is melted. This is a safety issue as we cannot drive at night safely. Each time we replace the bulb it stops functioning in a few days to weeks.
cruise control 1 complaint shown
On two separate occasions while in reverse after letting off (removing foot from) the accelerator and moving to the brake pedal the vehicle has significantly sped up as if the accelerator is still being depressed. The first occasion was the middle of the afternoon on an uneventful fair weather day while backing out of a driveway and entering a residential street. The second time was in a costco parking lot, again on a clear and uneventful weather day. No rain or ice on either day here in sacramento ca. This second time, the car accelerated with such speed that I was unable to stop my vehicle from continuing to reverse and the only thing that stopped my vehicle was running into a parked truck.
