2015 Chevrolet Equinox owner complaints

No warning engine light came on and vehicle stalling (p011 and p016 codes) took to automotive repair shop new engine refurbished $5000 new $10,000 unfortunately no funds for either just over 100,000 miles and still owe $13,000 I understand these are the same issues that have been noted in first generation vehicle. I now have to look for a replacement vehicle while paying for one that does not work.

The 2.4 liter engine in my car has had excessive oil consumption. now the engine oil is like peanut butter and the blow by out the oil fill is strong.

My SUV uses a lot of oil. I'm not sure where it is going. Also my brakes squeal something awful. ever since I had the car.And it stalls most everytime I stop at red lights or when I park. My check engine light is on all of the time. It simply will not operate at those low speeds. The engine starts to lag and idle really bad. I ran the codes and it said it was the camshaft positioning sensor. I've owned the SUV for 18 months. I don't know what the lemon laws are where I live, but I believe it's a total lemon.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, he noticed a massive oil leak underneath the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact noticed an oil seal leak. No warning lights were illuminated prior to the failure. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

In July/August 2021, the driver side windshield wiper got stuck mid-swipe. The only way to get it to go down was to physically move it. I was driving on the interstate in the middle of a downpour. Had to pull over several times on the way home because periodically it would move back up and get stuck. When it wasn't stuck I had to lean to the right to see out of the right side of the windshield to get home. For about 20 miles. My husband figured out the issue and purchased the malfunctioning part and repaired it. In December 2021, my engine seized at a stoplight. I coaxed the car out of the way and got it on the side of the road. The only warning to this was an occasional "ticking" noise, that never seemed to happen when my husband listened to it. We assumed it was the timing chain

The car stopped while driving and taken to the mechanic shop who diagnosed the reason due to a broke chain and this car has frequent oil changes every 3000 miles and there was no indication or even warning signs prior now the engine needs to be replaced. It appears to have these same issues several years back and there were recall and I believe that my car is also part of this same problem and I need to know if my vehicle can get fixed under the recall policy.

Engine failed as a result of a constant oil leak. My and others safety was put at risk because the engine died while I was traveling on the road. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. There was no warning lamps or messages.

Do to excessive oil consumption and cold weather the engine is done and has to be replaced.

PCV system freezing and plugging resulting in increased pressure causing excessive oil leak and potential engine failure. Pulled oil dipstick and release excessive pressure, however icing and freezing within the system continues to occur.

My vehicle has been having issues for a couple weeks with rough idle and my rpms reving when I let off the gas pedal. On 12/26/20, my vehicle stalled while driving it. Upon restarting it, it was making a loud noise, but no dash lights were on. I had it towed to a shop to see what was going on. The shop informed me that it had lost all of the oil due to a busted main seal. He told me that he had a bulletin that this was a common problem in my vehicle. The seal is busted because the design of my car allows moisture into the manifold which then freezes and busts the seal. It is costing me $1500 to fix the seal and clean the moisture from from the manifold. I am told that there is no way to prevent this from happening again. Car is only 4 years old and has Chevy service department certified bad timing belt. Car has verifiable routine maintenance upkept. This is likely a manufacture's defect.

On sunday, august 18, 2019, about 7:30 am while driving on a 3 lane highway going about 55 MPH during a heavy rain downpour, my windshield wipers completely stopped working. They suddenly stopped moving while in motion, one extending off the windshield, the other stopped in the middle of the windshield. I instantly had zero visibility and was in danger of crashing. There were many other vehicles driving on the highway. I was terrified but somehow managed to maneuver my vehicle to the side of the road by rolling down my window and sticking my head out to see just enough to pull over safely. Front windshield wipers suddenly and without warning or any other signs of failure, stopped working. Vehicle was in motion and wipers were in use as backing out of personal driveway. No inductor lights are present.

I was driving down the interstate (going 75mph) in moderate rain when suddenly our windshield wipers over extended and would no longer engage. We had to stop because we couldn't see. We had to make our way off the highway and to a repair shop to get them 'rigged' to get us back on the road.

I am submitting this complaint due to a serious mechanical failure involving the vehicle’s transmission system. The transmission developed a fluid leak that resulted in a sudden loss of proper hydraulic pressure, causing abrupt and unintended vehicle movement while driving. This malfunction created a hazardous driving condition and nearly caused an accident. Given that the vehicle has approximately 77,000 miles, this type of transmission failure is premature and raises concerns regarding a potential manufacturing or component defect. Immediate review and corrective action are requested due to the safety implications of this issue.

The brake system is locking up different wheels because the module thinks traction has been lost. This caused my daughter to spin around and go off the road. The part is on back order through gm - I have tried to obtain one from other sources with no luck - all the parts places I spoke to have been waiting on these for months which tells me there is a lot of cars affected.

Tire pressure readings on instrument panel give alert in cold weather. Even when tire pressure is maintained manually there is anxiety about putting too much air into tires even when cold. Instrument panel registers 26 - 29 PSI when in actually there is 35 PSI in tires.
