My 2016 Chevrolet Colorado lost all power steering while driving down the road. My young daughter was in the vehicle with me on a busy highway when I lost my ability to safely steer the vehicle. The stabilitrak light came on and that is when the power steering failed and I had to force my vehicle off the roadway manually to avoid getting into a collision. Had I needed to quickly steer to avoid another vehicle, obstacle, or maneuver a sharp turn at those speeds that could have been fatal for me, my daughter, and potentially other drivers or pedestrians. The vehicle was diagnosed and the issue was reproduced and confirmee at an independent service center as described. It was determined this was a known issue with similar make and model Chevrolet Colorados that were already on recall however

My power steering goes out intermittently. I get a power steering drive with care and stabilitrak service on my dash. It’ll go back to normal when I shut off the truck and restart. But sometimes the service error doesn’t go away. Also, while power steering is out service rear camera comes in intermittently too.
This is the 2nd time this has happened. Once in 2018 approx feb. The steering lost all electric assist. This always appeared after it was driven and had been parked. It did this about 4 times before the dealer would repair it. At that time everything was covered by warranty. This time, the same problem, loss of all steering assist after driving and it was parked. Same issue, this time they tell me the steering gear box needs to be replaced at a cost of over $2000.00. Exactly the same issue the 2015 was having. I have read the complaints and I fear this will happen at highway speed. We live in an extreme cold climate at times and both instances my vehicle was parked after driving in -20f weather.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 60 MPH, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign number 21V213000 (Steering). The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
I keep getting info messages while driving to service stabilalink and power steering and drive with car and I lose all power steering. It happens multiple times a day and dealer says they can't get it to do it when they drive it. At highway speeds it goes out and I have almost crashed several times due to not being able to control my steering. It happens often and 8 times today.
Service stablelink comes on and within seconds the power steering turns off. I have to pull over turn off the truck for 15 seconds to reset the computer and most of the time it stops. However there have been times when it does not reset and I have to drive without power steering. This happens randomly. I can be stoped on the highway or around town.
Power steering stop working while driving on city street, service power steering message appeared, very hard to turn is very dangerous to drive. Came back to normal 5 min later. *tr
I have recently starting to experience my vehicle having power steering issues. This has caused the power steering to go out as I'm drive which has almost caused me to be involved in multiple accidents. I did some research online and found out that this is an ongoing issue with my vehicles make and model. I am hoping that this being a KNOWN issue with this year and model of vehicle it gets put on the recall list so this issue doesn't potentially kill someone. Thank you,
While driving from the grocery store to our house, the steering wheel became incredibly stiff and a message appeared on the dashboard warning me to service power steering and drive with care. I was making a right turn out of the parking lot onto the city street and the steering wheel went stiff and the message appeared. I had to move the steering wheel with a lot of force to avoid crossing over the correct lane and go onto head on traffic. Luckily the grocery store isn't far from my house. If my wife or sons had been driving then this could have ended badly. This isn't the first time I've lost power steering. This has happened while on the highway. When on the highway I turned to the off ramp and again the steering wheel went stiff with the power steering loss message. Since then the truck
The electric power steering system on my vehicle intermittently fails while I am driving. When the failure occurs, the steering suddenly becomes extremely heavy and difficult to control, creating an immediate safety risk to me and to others on the road. The loss of power steering has happened multiple times with no advance warning. Each time, the only way to temporarily restore normal steering is to pull over, turn the vehicle off, and restart it. The problem occurs randomly and without a pattern. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue has been evaluated by the dealer’s service center. They were not able to reproduce the failure during their inspection, but they did confirm that the vehicle had stored a diagnostic trouble code indicating a power steering failure.

Vehicle has built in feature of hill assist that is overriding driver. Decides to stop or speed up on hills at will and lags and won't register what the driver is doing for quite some time. Hills are very dangerous with this vehicle and gm refuses to address the issue and debug the software to fix it. There are hundreds of complaints and still nothing. It's has created an issue to where I couldn't stop on multiple occasions, and luckily I was able to avoid and vehicles and pull off the road after placing the vehicle in neutral. The only way to override the feature is when you are in cruise control. I have had to shut the vehicle off to gets the engine to stop revving forward and have taken it to dealer multiple times. It is not safe for me or anyone near the truck.
About half dozen times my key would turn off the engine but not the dash (radio, light etc) then would not turn far enough so I could remove the key. After restarting and shifting through the gears a couple of times it would turn off as it should and I could remove the key. This does not happen all the time but is a pain when your not sure if you will get the key out at the store.

As I was driving my vehicle home from work, my vehicle lost acceleration and the stabiltrax warning came on. I had to pull off of the highway as fast as I could due to the fact that the speed was 75 and my vehicle was decelerating very quickly. I turned my car off momentarily and it magically became normal other then the check engine light staying on. I only have 41000 miles on my truck, so there is no reason why it should be messing up already! From the looks of the research I have done, this is a common occurrence on this yea,r make, and model of this truck. It runs great some days and causes me to have to pull over multiple times other days. Very frustrating!
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet colorado. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 5,700. Updated 02/03/17*lj

The ignition swich won't turn off in one of ten time. Truck could be stolen & driven away.
Key gets locked in the ignition after you put it in park and try shut off the vehicle. Vehicle won’t turn off. It takes 10 to 20 minutes before it will release the key. I believe this is a safety issue and have seen a good amount of people online that have the same issue and the manufacture refusing to address or fix the problem.

Vacuum pump busted as shown in photos. Once that busted it sent metal shrapnel into the engine which broke a piece of the cam shaft into bits. There were metal fragments that had to be meticulously cleaned out of my engine block. The loss of vacuum seal caused me to lose brakes while driving in stop and go traffic on the highway.

The auto sensor for the head lights/dash lights doesn't seem sensitive enough as on cloudy days it stays in night time mode and I cant see my dash.
