The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, there was a loud knocking sound coming from the engine compartment with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact diagnosed a misfire in cylinder #3 and replaced all the spark plugs and coils; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the connecting rod bearing had failed. The contact was advised that the engine short block needed to be replaced. The engine short block was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact indicated that

Honda service determined there is a failure of the number 5 cylinder connecting rod bearing. This could pose a safety issue if it had continued to be driven. We have also seen through news and online forums that this is a known, systemic issue.

My vehicle stalled and had a horrible noise while stalling. Dealership took it back to their shop as we thought if was due to yhe work they just finished and after inspecting they determined a rod bearing had spun. The safety issue is we stalled out on the highway in the middle of traffic, almost got into several wrecks with my child in the vehicle. Only light that came on while stalling was the check engine light.

No prior indications of a pending issue. Stopped at an intersection for a Red Light, Auto Start/Stop feature turned the engine off as designed. When took foot off of the brake pedal and depressed gas pedal to start moving for the green light, which should have re-engaged the Auto Start feature and started the engine, multiple dash warning and caution lights turned on and the car itself never turned on. Result was a stuck car. Required multiple attempts to successfully restart the engine over several minutes, which included a couple of traffic light sequences (Red, Green, Red) around the stuck car. The brake pedal seemed extremely stiff with very little movement during these start attempts. Asked 2 Honda dealerships, they said they never heard about it and could not replicate.

The vehicle experienced a sudden engine malfunction while being driven at highway speeds in the carpool lane under normal conditions. The engine began knocking and misfiring, followed by a significant loss of power. There were no warning lights, oil pressure alerts, or messages prior to the failure. The loss of power and engine knocking made it difficult to safely cross multiple highway lanes from the carpool lane to reach an exit, creating a serious safety hazard in active traffic. The driver exited the freeway as soon as safely possible, parked the vehicle, turned the engine off, and had it towed to prevent further damage or risk. The vehicle was towed home and then towed the following day to an authorized Honda dealership for inspection. The dealership confirmed the failure was caused

An error stating "keyless start system problem" appeared on my dashboard. I also noted the car was accelerating roughly when it shifted into higher gears. A second error message and the engine light came on, stating "emmisions system problem" my mechanic followed the Honda troubleshoot recommendation instruction sheet, and removed the diagnostic code, but two days later the errors reappeared. Upon taking the car to Honda's service center, I was told the fuel emmision problem can be fixed and is covered under our warranty, but the keyless start system problem is not covered (as my car has 54,000 miles and the 3 year warranty/36,000 miles does not apply). The repairs will now cost over $350 to replace the components, plus labor. There are many posts about this problem... Should be a recall

The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that the hood needed to be replaced due to a crack. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 108,481.

These 4 warning lights keep coming on such as lane keep assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, and road departure mitigation system problem. Many Honda Pilot owners report this ongoing issue with no real solution. This is a serious concern that needs to be looked into further.

There is a problem with the collision mitigation braking system. The dash warning light for this system came on while driving and there was no foreseeable problem about to happen. The Honda dealer reset the system. Within a month or two while driving in the carpool lane of a freeway the warning lights for the system came on again. Once again there was no hazard at the time. This time the dealer was unable to reset it and quoted us $1,800 to repair/replace the system. We have not had the repair done as of today. The warning light on the dashboard is on whenever we drive the vehicle.

All warning lights came on Vehicle stability assist (VSA) Problem, Hill Street Assist Problem, Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Emissions System Problem. Car was stalling and sometimes not starting at all. Took it in to the Honda dealer in mid November 2023 and they said it was reporting low fuel pressure but that it was probably low fuel in the tank that caused the issue and not to worry about it since the warning lights were off. After a month, the car stalled while diriving in the middle of the highway and all warning lights came on again. Had trouble starting car again but I was able to drive it my local mechanic which told me I had to replace both fuel pumps since they were the cause of my issues. I ended up getting both pumps replaced at a

On 3 separate occasions, our 2016 Honda pilot elite has completely shut down while we were driving - twice on the highway and once in busy traffic. When this happens, the engine, transmission, power steering, etc. All stop working and the car displays every error you can imagine. I have posted a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btebmywy-is this is very scary because there is nothing you can do to get the car working again - luckily, we have been able to coast to the side of the road. When it first happened, we called Honda emergency roadside assistance and we had a tow on the way when we tried restarting the car several times in a row and that cleared the errors. Since then, we have used the same trick to get the car running again but it has happened twice in the last week

1. Keyless start system problem error warning 2. Transmission or throttle issue: jerky or choppy acceleration when at low or moderate acceleration between speeds of 20 to 50 MPH or during cruising at speeds of 20 to 50 MPH. Brought it to dealership 3 times for issue, first two times under warranty, at what time the software for the transmission was updated which rectified issue for 3 months. The third time, software was again updated but without improvement of the issue. To make matters worse warranty on powertrain lapsed between second and third request for repair and issue is not being treated as a continuation of a known problem.

There is no way for the driver of the car to put the transmission into neutral if needed with an electrical/battery failure. According to Honda, there is a special mechanical device that tow truck drivers would have that physically attaches to the engine to shift the car into neutral. In addition, the honda mechanic that I talked to today said even if the average driver had one of these devices, they would not recommend they use it due to likelihood of causing damage to the engine or transmission. This is fine if the car is already in park, since it would most likely be located in a parking lot, residence, etc. The two times that would be a safety issue and could very easily cause an accident would be if the car was in drive, stopped at a traffic light with the engine off due to the A

A few years ago I was told my fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Last month, I was told that my suspension needed to be replaced and it wore out. Shortly after that my struts were leaking and making noise. I do not drive my car over rough terrain, just regular street driving and I get my vehicle maintained regularly.
