2017 Chevrolet Impala owner complaints

Nov 2018: center console / tv failure including back-up camera along with infotainment. Occurred just after 36,000 miles, thus gm warranty did not cover and repair cost for hmi module = $732 though we do have a 3rd party ext. Warranty, we still paid $200+ out of pocket and feel it irresponsible for gm electronics to fail just 1 year after model year (as electronics normally should not relate to # miles) - should be a factory recall. Repeated attempts to contact Chevrolet senior support by phone to discuss situation went unanswered. During the time the console was out (but car still drive-able), we had reduced rear visibility and were more fearful about backing up, especially in areas with many children present.

On november 17th and 20th of 2018 while at mall parking lot and at drug store as I proceed to leave my car's battery had completely drained it's power. No lights or doors were left on and I had to get aaa to boost me on those two occasions. When I took the car back to the dealer they simply said they could not find anything wrong or locate the problem after keeping the car for a day. I purchased this car new september 2017 and has less than 12,000 miles as of today. What am I suppose to dojust keep going as if no problem exist? It is a good car and this is the first problem I've experienced but someone needs to take responsibility, no fun being stranded and technicians at dealership unable to locate problems.

Vehicle was driving and operating as normal. I Drove to shopping center, was in store for an hour and came out to a car full of smoke when door opened. There appeared to be a fire that had started and stopped originating from the drivers side door panel.

Once driven,car will not re-start. This will happen randomly . No clicking,no dash lights, absolutely nothing; as if no battery in car. Had it diagosed in shop twice now, can not find anything wrong (cannot duplicate no start). I noticed in car complaints .com that someone in horn lake, ms had smilar issue while driving on 3 different occasions. I believe this is a seriuos safety issue!!!!

The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 61,000.

Rented a 2017 Chevy impala for a 10 day 3000 mile road trip.I did the driving and my wife, 5' 1", spent the trip in the passenger seat. Due to the extreme forward position of the headrest and lack of headrest adjustment she was miserable the whole trip. I had been planing on buying that exact car, not now. I'll buy a used car with headrests that make sense, the ones on the new cars don't.

The fonts are too small on all of the control screens, the infotainment screen and on the various buttons on the dashboard. Many people have to take their eyes off the road for too long to read the writing and symbols. There is plenty of unused background on the screens and buttons where the fonts could be enlarged. Or, perhaps a feature could be designed where the driver could increase the size of the fonts as needed.

Brought my car in for routine oil change. Informed dealership of loud exhaust sound. Asked if they could check fo an exhaust leak. Upon picking up my vehicle I was informed the loud exhaust was due to a crack in the catalytic converter. I asked what would cause this to happen. They were unsure of cause it is not a normal issue for the mileage and age of vehicle. They did provide me with a quote to repair. I took my car to a different repair shop and they were concerned that this part was faulty from the manufacturer. They informed me that a recall could be possible and advised me to contact gm.

2017 Chevy Impala 3.6L engine exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold / turbo charger. Resulting in exhaust fumes leaking driver/passenger area could cause fire and or damage to engine. Checking on the customer review and complaints page on the internet I have a lot of other complaints even to the point one persons wife developed lung cancer possible related to inhaling the exhaust according to her doctor. Who knows but I had a hard time getting my car to pass NC inspection because of the lake, please advise. As I am hard of hearing and didn't know I had this problem until the local NC Inspection station pointed it out all I knew was I could smell it or something. PS the email is that of my local mechanic, as I don't have one or how to even turn a computer on.

Starting in march 2019 the 2017 Chevy impala engine would stop and wouldn't start back up for at least 30 minutes. It would happen when I stop at a stop sign or light or whenever I stop the vehicle. Then in july of 2019 the vehicle stopped in the middle of the street. It wouldn't reverse or go forward. It was identified as a transmission leak. All the transmission oil had leaked out. Took the vehicle to several repair shops which they couldn't identify the problem. My transmission is damaged by now. A 2017 Chevy impala should not have transmission problems unless there is some type of defect.

Vehicle jerks and shakes when I accelerate. Took to dealership stated torque issue in transmission. New transmission needed. Purchased Nov 2020 from same dealership only has 112500 miles. This should be recall.

Rented an alamo rental car at the dfw airport on 12/23/16. . Left rear wheel came off vehicle while driving straight at highway speed on texas hwy 36 causing the car to loose control and spin off the road. *tr

Tl* the contact rented a 2017 Chevrolet impala. The contact stated that the rear driver side wheel detached while driving 50 MPH the vehicle was left at the side of the road near a farm. The contact called alamo rental car to pick up the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000. Updated 02/21/17*lj

As I was driving in a curved lane all of a sudden a warning light and popped on the dash about a power steering issue and I lost all power steering and was heading out of control. I could not control the car at all in the curve. Then I finally was able to slow the vehicle down and pull off the road. Who should I talk to about this major issue?

Power steering assist drive with care warning popped up on dash. Took the vehicle to the dealership and they said the power steering gear failed.

Headlights do not light up the road on right side, cannot see road, curbs or pedestrians when turning. Projection system, dealer says nothing wrong, very dangerous at night especially in the rain. They need to fix projection system to cover right side of vehicle. Many complaints on the web regarding this issue.

I keep getting a message "airbag service" and the light comes on and stays illuminated. I took the vehicle to malcolm cunningham Chevrolet on 15 oct 2018. I was told that everything checked out fine and that there is no issue. I dont understand this because it has happened numerous times and I am concerned about my safety. This has happened when I start the vehicle and while I am driving I will get the message.
