2017 Chrysler Pacifica owner complaints

2017 Chrysler pacifica. Consumer writes in regards to electrical issues. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle slams into gear. The transmission was replaced twice, but the failure recurred. There was a rattling noise under the driver's side. The vehicle failed to start leaving the driver and passenger's stranded. *js

Vehicle purchased in december 2016 for $44,000 from safford of fredericksburg. On october 14, 2017, I was driving with my wife, three children and mother-in-law and experienced a loud malfunction that rendered the car inoperable. Luckily we were not on the highway at the time and the vehicle was eventually towed to safford of fredericksburg, virginia for repairs. The right front axel had ruptured (total miles on the car were 8,311 at that time). The service agent (jim bogan) noted that this had been flagged on other occasions as identified issues at other service department requiring the next "generation" of axel assembly parts for the repair. Shortly after receiving the vehicle, we returned to the same dealership to address a loud girding noise also associated with the right front axel.

While in motion at lower speeds the transmission violently jerks between gears giving the feeling the car is out of control.

The transmission slipped out of gear and wouldn't shift. The problem occurred while I was driving on the street. This comes after numerous rough shifts that I was told was a computer issue on the transmission.

While driving approximately 65mph on the highway,all of the lights on the dash came on and the car started to slow down even though I had the cruise control set. I tried to press the accelerator and the car would not speed up. I pulled over and turned the dial to park but the p did not light up. While in park the car was jerking forward and I could not set the parking brake. I turned it off at that point and tried to turn it back on to solve the problem. The problem has not yet been solved.

Zf 9 speed transmission suddenly disengages at slow speeds passenger sliding door slow and rough when opening.

Transmission will lockout normal operation and blink "n" on both instrument cluster and gear shift knob. When failed, the vehicle will not operate in either reverse or drive and it appears to hold in park. Vehicle then needs to be shutoff and restarted, sometimes multiple times, before the vehicle can move again. My wife reported a very rough gear engagement that felt like she was rear ended but it appears to have been a violent gear change. I took car for a test drive and pulled out of my driveway in reverse, pulled into the street, stopped, changed to drive and experienced the lockout with a screen saying "service trans, press brake when stopped, key off engine to engage park". At this point I was stuck with my vehicle blocking the entire street and I could not use drive, rever

When going to accelerate, the car will not shift into gear. It g Jerks and it takes a few seconds to physically move foward. There are times when turning onto a road or highway it will not accelerate as it should.

Foam headrest became unglued and broke. I have 2 identical car seats this happened to one in Sept and now one in Dec. based on google search seems like it’s a common issue.

Twice while driving the van shut down and came to a stop. The van jerked and was in park. I was able to push start it back on. Both incidents have happened in the last 2 weeks with all 3 of my children in the car on a busy intersection. Last one happened on 12/26/22 while driving 25-30 miles and hour. This van only has 41,000 miles on it and has NO warning light indicators on. I am taking my van into a dealership tomorrow 12/28/22 in Vancouver, Wa. to get it looked at. I no longer feel safe in my vehicle. This is my main source of transportation and I take the highway everyday to work. I have no idea what could cause this, but I have seen this is a problem in the 2017 models.

On multiple occasions after starting the ignition, the gear unexpectedly slipped from park (stationary position) to reverse after starting the ignition. Most recently on christmas day this occurred with my daughter and 4 month old granddaughter in the car resulting in rear collision and damage to the body of the vehilcle. Insurance claim is currently in progress.

We bought this vehicle from a local dealer in March (9months ago) in the time we’ve had it… it’s been in the shop for about 6 of them. 1- About 3 weeks after the purchase it shut off while I was driving on the highway. We then took it to the dealership in Jasper, Ga bc the error code said the pcm needed to be reset. They couldn’t get it to reset so they embarked on a diagnostic that took 3 months to discover the fuel pump was “too small”. The dealership repair guy assured us this was a solve to the issue, they’re tech put 200 miles on it an had no issues. 2- The day we got it back the check engine light came on and while going around a curve to the right, the wheel locked up on me and almost drove me into a mailbox. Pacifica stalling recall I am writing this email to inform you of an issue we have had with our brand new 2017 Chrysler pacifica touring. Leaving our in-laws the other day, which mind you is directly across the street, we got to the end of the driveway to stop and look both ways ;) and the auto shut off engaged. When we released the break the car never turned back on and but stalled and rolled into the street, park break engaged and left us in the middle of the road. We tried pushing the button to turn the car back on and nothing... The car was still on but not running and wouldn't start. After disconnecting the battery and reconnecting we were able to start the car but none of the gears worked... No gear would engage when turning the knob, the emergency park brake would not dis-engage

Air conditioning blows cold then hot and stays hot until it is turned off and then back on multiple times in 10-20 mile range. Stalled at a red light. Turned off when backing up in my driveway. Parking break light keeps popping on when turning knob for changing gears.

I have two occasions where my vehicle stalled. 1. I was driving at 40 MPH on the highway and everything went dead, I coasted to a stop on the side and was able to put it in park and restart. The second time I was stopped at a light on a side street, and started to go from a stop to a left turn and the vehicle start to go and suddenly went dead. I put it in park and restarted. No engine lights, nothing to tell me where the problem was. I am taking it in for service.

I was driving on the street thankfully at a lower speed about 25 MPH and the power steering suddenly gave out. It then came back randomly while turning. It did that multiple times before I was able to get it to the dealer. I have been told it is an electrical problem. It has been 2 1/2 months and they have not been able to fix it. I do have a loaner. I had a Chrysler customer care case but they have cut off all contact with me.

The steering wheel sticks when you’re straightening back out from going around a curve. It doesn’t happen all the time but when it does it will continue for several days or weeks and then stop. It has been a continuous thing for months.

Vehicle shuts off while driving and cannot be restarted until it comes to a complete stop. Vehicle has stopped running while slowing down for a light, it has stopped after getting off expressway and while driving through a parking lot. In the last two months it has stalled at least 10 times.

Head gasket and Rear valve cover gasket replaced. Still smelling burning oil. Started with check engine light for misfire on cylinder 5. 75K miles on vehicle. There is a rough idle and loss of power at interstate speeds.

We were driving (in motion) car across tapenzee bridge (highway) and it stopped, (completely, no coasting etc) out of no where, no warning. Car eventually restarted after it was put in park and ignition was activated again. Since incident, car has stalled twice with no warning but has not shut off completely like it did on bridge.
