Crossed rail road tracks truck start shaking so bad like to have lost control at 65 miles per hour

12/30/2019 33,341 mi ODI #11292167.0

When vehicle travels over a rough spot or a change in grade on the road such as a bridge joint the front end shakes violently and you have to almost stop to get it to correct itself. This has happened 3 times in the past month. Most recent was on interstate traveling 70 MPH. Traveling on highway and drove across a bridge joint, front end started shaking violently and I almost caused an accident trying to get off the road to slow down. Vehicle is 3 years old with 30,000 miles. Paid way too much money to now fear for my life when I drive it. Ford says they are not aware of problem. Please help

The "death wobble" started after 15k miles on my truck. I've brought my truck to Ford dealership. Ford dealership in san jose, ca told me the dampners on my truck needs to be replaced, but the parts are in back order and doesn't know when Ford will have the parts for replacement. During our latest trip to santa ana, ca on dec 26, 2019. The front end of my truck, steering wheel shook violently at highway speed (45mph+) when braking or going over potholes/rough roads. The woobles are much worst this time. We almost got into an accident because of the woobles in san luis obispo, ca. We pulled off the freeway and I've called/left voicemail/texted the Ford dealer in san jose, ca. No one called back after an hour, so we decided to cancel out trip and turn around for home. Only to drive

I am experiencing the death wobble in my truck. Driving typically above 60 MPH, if I drive over a bridge expansion joint or if there are ripples or continuous bumps in the highway, I will lose control of my truck in a sever shaking. The only way I have doing found to fix it is to slow down, turn the vehicle off and continue driving.

Truck starts violently shaking when it hits bumps. Usually happens over 60 mph.

12/29/2022 ODI #11499387.0

As vehicle approaches >60MPH, the steering wheel vibrates violently, and the entire front end of the truck begins to shake and wobble, causing steering to be compromised. This is a serious risk given there could be a loss of control of steering. The only way to eliminate the problem is to slow down or stop the vehicle. But eventually, the problem comes back again. No warning lights come on to alert you of the problem. The problem just develops with no warning whatsoever. This seems to be a known problem. Per research online, this is a known problem for Ford F250s model year 2017-2019. Our model is a 2017. Per online research, and in talking to the Ford Dealer, this is known as the "Death Wobble" and has to do with a failure of the Steering Damper and/or other loose components re

Known problem to later model Ford F250 Sper Duty pickup trucks (2015 to 2019??) experiencing a violent steering wheel oscillation after hitting a minor bump in pavement or a pot hole. aka "death wobble" at highway speeds. This has occurred three times thus far on this truck. This seems to occur at approximately 55 to 65 MPH. The shaking is so bad that the driver could easily loose control. The vehicle problem has been reported before to the Ford dealer and the suggested repair is to "replace the steering damper" if it occurs again. This situation occurs with no advanced warning other than a minor wheel shaking which becomes increasingly violent to the point, in the last instance, the truck had to be stopped in order to clear the problem. As indicated, this truck has been inspected for

There is an issue with the track bar coming loose and causing speed wobble. I had it replaced under warranty at about 35,000 miles. Now I'm at about 41,000 miles and it's really loose again. It causes the truck to sometimes lose control. It happened the other day when only going about 30 miles an hour. Hit a bump in the road and the whole front end started vibrating out of control. I had to slow way down to regain control. The Ford dealer can't get me in for repair until january 12th, 2021.

At around 20,000 miles driving down the highway I hit a bump doing about 70 mh and my steering wheel started shaking uncontrollably. Had to slow down to about 35 MPH to get it to stop. Took it to my local dealership and they said the steering dampner was bad. They replaced it. Fixed the problem for about 12000 miles, now at around 30,000 miles it ha started again. Took it back to the dealer and they did an alignment on it and it still has the same problem

I am experiencing severe shaking in my frontend suspension/steering when hitting a bump on one side of my vehicle. The shaking occurred while I was traveling at approximately 65 MPH on a rural 2 lane road. I could not control the shaking. I had to slow to 25 MPH before it would stop and I could regain control of the vehicle. Today was the third time this has happened. Each time it occurs it when one side of the vehicle hits a bump or dip in the road. Each time it happened I was traveling at a high rate of speed (at least 60 MPH). I don't feel safe driving my vehicle over 60 MPH. Especially with my family in the truck or near other people on the road. In my quick research it appears to be wide spread with Ford super duty trucks. My truck has stock suspension and steering and has never been

On three separate occasions over a two-day period, while driving at highway speed, the steering wheel and front of the truck went into an extremely violent shaking episode nearly causing complete loss of control in heavy traffic. The shaking was only stopped by braking sharply to reduce the speed putting other drivers at risk of a colliding into the rear of the truck. The vehicle has been parked until it can be inspected. After researching the problem, this is a well-documented problem with the make/model of vehicle that has earned the term "death wobble", yet no recall has been issued and no warning from the manufacturer.

The steering wheel will start oscillating while driving straight, at highway speeds (approximately 65-75). The steering wheel will start vibrating and will turn into what has been termed the "death wobble". The vehicle shakes so bad that the only way to stop the oscillating is to slow down to 20-30 MPH. The oscillating happened when hitting even the slightest uneven patch on the highway. It happened on the interstate as well as local highways. Some of these roads have very recently been reconditioned. Had there been other vehicles or towing, it would have been very to avoid a wreck as the oscillation causes the vehicle to want to move off to one side or the other and is very difficult to control.

Was on the highway and the truck started shaking violently and I lost control of the steering. Happened twice. Just had to take my foot off the gas, hope for the best and get off the highway. Took it to a dealership and they replaced the steering damper. On the way from maine to florida, it happened again in south carolina. Truck again is shaking at highway speed and no control of steering. The supposed fix did not actually fix the problem. With a sudden inability to steer, the truck is unsafe to drive at highway speeds.

While driving with the cruise control set at 78 MPH (speed limit 80 MPH) on I-80 between salt lake city, ut and wendover, nv, I went over a rough patch of road on a turn and the vehicle began to shake violently. The steering wheel was shaking back and forth rapidly and I was unable to maintain my lane through the turn. The shaking continued until I was able to slow to around 20 MPH. If there would have been traffic around me I am convinced there would have been an accident. My wife, 4 year old daughter and new born son was in the vehicle. I searched NHTSA for a safety recall on the steering for Ford superduty pickups but found nothing but complaints about this issue. If this is not a recall worthy safety issue then I do not know what is. I no longer trust this truck to safely transpor

I have filed an earlier complaint about the same issue(tracking number is 11289041). I made an appt at Ford to get truck fixed for the "death wobble" problem that seems to be reoccurring and they told me they didn't have me set up for a loaner vehicle and I would have to reschedule. I was driving my truck just this past weekend as a wait to get into the shop and I nearly caused three separate accidents on n/s I-75. When I was turned away at Ford because they didn't have a loaner vehicle for me, the spokesman of service told me that if the failed part on my truck is what he thinks it is, the part is on a 6 week back order. He continued to explain how there was a backlog of 1200 of these parts and he would not be able to confidently tell me when he would be able to get one in. Jeremy arm

While travelling on an interstate highway going approximately 65 mph, the steering wheel and front end began to violently shake after going over the seam that separates the pavement from a bridge. The shaking only stopped after I slowed down considerably. The shaking was bad enough that I felt I did not have full control of the vehicle. The weather was sunny and 40 degrees and the pavement was dry. There were no warning lights either before, during, or after the incident. The vehicle has about 50k miles on it and has never been in an accident.

My vista sunroof on my 2017 F250 Super Duty Platinum made a popping noise and failed to open when I attempted to open it. It became bound to the rear glass which in turn commenced to fracture across the entire piece. Fortunately no one was injured as this glass could have dropped large shards into the cab. I an concerned that this could still present a problem when driving and is an imminent safety hazard. I found out that this is a common issue that Ford is aware of on the F series trucks with the panoramic roofs and it is due to the rail/track system fracturing on the front glass (sunroof) and will not replace/repair it because it is not under warranty. This a safety hazard for passengers due to a manufacturer defect and poor design and needs to be replaced immediately to avoid any risks
