I have reviewed multiple threads on the internet talking about issues with the key being stuck in the ignition after putting the vehicle in park. They all suggested contacting Subaru america and that there would be a free fix since it impacts safety of the vehicle (seems easy to steal when the key is stuck in the car for example). Subaru did not respond as anticipated and instead responded with a 'go talk to a dealer' which also is quoted to cost hundreds of dollars to fix a widespread problem. My feeling is that the key being literally stuck in the ignition could lead to theft, further mechanical damage, and other risks to the person. This happens when the car is in park and the car cannot acknowledge it is indeed in park so it retains the car key lock, not releasing it to the owner.

Car keeps destroying cells in the battery. Car has died multiple times from sitting over night and has gone through 3 batteries in 3 years. Battery terminal has also corroded away. Car has failed to start many time. Seems to to be a battery drain issue with my car. Subaru has acknowledged the problem and reimbursed me for one of my batteries but I feel this isn't enough. I cannot rely on the car because I fear it will leave me stranded.

Complete Battery drainage started when the car had about 30k miles. Batery was replaced around December 2020 at owners expense. Within a year the baterry drainage started happening again, randomly, after parking. Subaru dealer suggested to keep replacing baterry. Issue has not been reproduced by service department; it randomly happens. It has not been inspected by others.

Left town for 3 weeks and upon return the battery was dead. This happened the last time the car was not driven for several weeks, in Spring of 2020. A new battery was purchased at that time, even though the original battery was only ~3.5 years old. The current battery is only 2.5 years old and should be able to hold a charge for 3 weeks. Every time the car goes for an extended time without being driven, something in the electrical system drains the battery. Its very frustrating and time consuming to deal with.

Repeated failure to start due to dead battery. Original battery replaced and replacement battery continued to die 2 or 3 more times. $250 electrical testing by Subaru specialty shop found nothing out of spec. Two American Automobile Association service calls found nothing out of spec. Concerned about getting stranded when traveling outside of your home area. No warning lights during drives prior to battery failing to start car. Most recent failure was in September, 2021.

Battery went dead had it charged - went dead shortly after. Replaced battery and within a year of replacing with a brand new battery it is dead again. Car was on side of the road where I parked it. There is a Class action suit on the battery life but if we need to keep doing this every year or so that is a problem. Called the dealer to see if there is anything they can do to alleviate the problem and they really have no answer. First battery lasted about 2-3 years Second battery lasted about a year and will probably go two with several jump starts along the way as was the case with the first.

Car seems to have an electrical issue. Battery dies several times a year. Sometimes, you can jump it, but not always.

When driving my vehicle from las vegas nv to mesquite nv the bsd/rcta automatically disabled itself out of nowhere. I have low mileage on my vehicle and my vehicle has never been in an accident so I took it to Subaru dealership where I get all my maintenance done and they have no clue why all of the sudden the sensor malfunctioned and it was at no fault to my own they said but since the vehicle is no longer in warranty so I will have to pay a pretty penny and I just feel that should be the manufacturer do to the fact that this is a safety feature on their vehicles and it was not my fault it malfunctioned it was their system.*dt*jb

I have had 3 broken windshields on my 2017 Subaru legacy in the 20 months that I have owned the vehicle. When it happened this past time I realized this is not just "bad luck" on my part. I started researching the issue online and found that Subaru has a class action lawsuit against them for 2015 and 2016. I believe the 2017 model is also an issue but that model year has yet to be included in the lawsuit. What I have also found online from various automotive websites is that Subaru legacy and outback owners are experiencing broken windshields from the smallest debris hitting the windshield. If the smallest piece of debris is causing a crack in the windshield what can a consumer expect to happen if there was a full collision? I'm not sure if this is a design flaw in the automobile or

Windsheild- the materials used for the windshield in this vehicle are substandard. I leased the vehicle on 4/18/2017 and it is now 10/24/2017 and my windsheild has cracked twice. The first time it cracked I had it replaced right away. This time I decided to wait a week or so to see if it would continue to have issues the windshield has now cracked in three different places. I have not changed my driving habits and my previous vehicles have never had this issue. I did some online research and spoke to some other Subaru owners and this is a known issue with newer outbacks and legacy models. It is unacceptable for Subaru to sell these obviously faulty windshields to the public I have made complaints to the Subaru dealer and I just get the response that there is nothing they can do except repl

On august 30, I traveled north bound on ih 35 towards austin around 6:00pm. As I approached my destination, I noticed a crack that had started in the bottom, center of my windshield. I didn't remember hearing anything hit my windshield, so I was very surprised I had a crack. I did have my windshield replaced at safelight on october 15, 2019 and paid $500 deductible. Now I am reading about faulty windshield lawsuits popping up on Subaru vehicles

My 2017 Legacy is on it's 3rd windshield this year. I had impact damage on July 17th, had it replaced the first week of August, and it cracked without impact damage in October. Subaru refused to replace it under warranty and it was replaced through insurance in December. The genuine Subaru replacement windshields for 2015-2019 Legacy and Outback models appear to be defective and this should be investigated.

This car have very annoying wind noise coming from top of both side window (around b pillar) when speed over 40mph. And I went to dealer twice try to fix this issue, but they said tsb 12-185-15r can only apply to 15-16 year models, not for 17 year model. But this is exactly same problem on the exact same car.. This issue will cause distracted when driving in high speed!!!

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 Subaru legacy. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked in the driveway on a hill and when he started to exit the vehicle it started to roll backwards down the driveway. The contact had to quickly turn the steering wheel in to a backwards u turn to turn the vehicle back into his yard. The contact avoided the vehicle crashing into the neighbor's yard. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive it back in to the driveway and put on the parking brakes. He also placed stones behind the two rear wheels to help prevent another backward roll. The dealer and manufacturer had not been contacted. The VIN tool did not show any recalls. The contact had the driver's side fender and driver's side door repaired since they were damaged during the incident. The

When I go to park my 2017 Subaru legacy, I put my car in park and the key will not turn. It gets stuck and the engine will not turn off. Consequently, I am not able to turn off my car and take my key out. The dealer told me to back up my car and thrust my gear shifter into park. Then I was able to turn the key off. However, the situation continues to happen every time that I drive the car. It is clearly an issue with the engine/car as this never happened prior. I was told that Subaru's frequently have defective solenoids that holds the key in when the car is running might be defective. I have not yet seen a recall.

Key is getting stuck in ignition after car is placed in park and turned off. Car must be moved out of park into neutral and park into park multiple times before key can be removed from ignition. At times I have had to leave the key in the car and return later in order to remove it. This is creating a hazard not only for the potential for the car to be stolen but also it keeps me from moving my car quickly if necessary.
