2018 Chrysler Pacifica owner complaints

The car shifts really hard going into 2nd gear, it feels like I've been rear-ended. It is awful. Also sometimes it loses power then accelerates on its own. Both issues are safety issues. this happens several times a weeks for the last 3 years.

We purchased our 2018 Chrysler pacifica in early october 2018 and have since put less than 3,000 miles on the odometer. Today, while driving on a level rural road near our home, a couple of warning lights started flashing out of nowhere: one indicating that blind-spot monitoring was disabled, and another re: electronic stability control. Not long after we started up a hill a half-mile later, the accelerator stopped responding. We were slowing down. Then, the car basically stalled and came to a stop. More warning lights and sounds came on, including a check engine light, and one indicating that we needed to service the transmission. When completing a stop at traffic lights, the vehicle start/stop system shuts off the engine and without warning it has not restarted automatically leaving us expecting to take off and having to put the vehicle back in park while in traffic and then restart the engine and move gear selector back to the drive position. I've nearly been rear-ended due to this several times. I have counted 7 times this malfunction has happened. When checking the vehicle for any DTC's there have never been any.

2018 touring l plus towed. Was driving along and started losing all power, systems started to shut down, van was limited in speed and function. By the end all warning systems had failed, power steering was gone, ABS was gone, after the battery hit 8.9 volts we lost control of the transmission, the "d" on the display started flashing and the van shut off 15 seconds later. Once the van was off I was unable to put it in park or apply the parking brake due to the loss of power.

Head Gasket Blew at 102,000 Miles which caused windows to fog up on freeway.

Van will jerk or jolt when it's shifting between gears going 10- 50 MPH on a flat straight away city road. Dangerous on the road because its unpredictable and uncontrollable. The jolt feels as though you have been rear ended. This has happened on multiple occasions. My car is a little over a year old. I've been having this problem immediately after I bought this brand new van with less than 10,000 miles.

The check engine light came on after 2 weeks of owning the car. It threw a Code P0303. We replaced the coils on 1-3-5 and spark plugs on all cylinders and the check engine light came back on after 1 week. It finally would not start. Our mechanic has removed the head and gasket and discovered the cylinder 3 was full of water and water and oil in the oil pan creating a gooey sludge. This is apparently an ongoing problem with this engine to the point that gaskets to replace the head gasket are very hard to find.

Vehicle was at red light when started to smell something burning then smoke from the hood and vents inside the van. Then when the hood is popped tithe flames got worse. The fire started on the right rear side of engine compartment around the radiator reservoir.

While driving on the freeway, the van suddenly started to ‘drag’ and alarm that the start/stop system was unavailable. I was barely able to pull off the freeway before the van completely stopped moving and would not start up again.

The sliding side doors and rear tailgate open when I'm driving the vehicle!!!!! Also when you push button shut the side doors they shut, then open again repeatedly, no obstacles or debris in the tracks, this is purely electrical on a vehicle that has 42,000 miles. The back tailgate opened today on my wife while she was driving, this vehicle has not been in an accident orw water damage either.

The failure intermittently occurred. The contact stated that the software on the tv monitor and the video module under the passenger seat were replaced and updated at coast auto center Chevrolet (530 chetco ave, brookings, or 97415, (800) 342-9438). The contact stated that the failure continued and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times. The contact stated that the same dealer attempted to repair the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. The contact wanted to know why the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v886000 (equipment, back over prevention). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure

An independent mechanic stated that the horn was built without a fuse and that one needed to be installed. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle lost power without warning. The vehicle was taken to dadeland Chrysler Dodge (16501 s dixie hwy, miami, fl 33157), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed and assigned a technician. The failure was escalated to a higher office of the dealer. The failure mileage was 18,600. ..*bf. *tr *dt 2nd incident: dec. 11: total electrical failure while parked in garage at home. Check engine light p0305 misfire cylinder 5. Found head gasket leaking coolant into cylinder.

Blown head casket at only 64000 miles. Engine light on and antifreeze I’m told is leaking now. No warranty or recall with the 2018 Pacifica but there is for the same issue with the 2017.

Original code displayed was for a misfire on cylinder 5. Vehicle wouldn’t start and we had it towed to a Chrysler dealership for a diagnostic. Dealership stated it had a cracked head gasket. Based on research this is a common problem among Chrysler pacificas where it’s specifically happening on cylinder 5. Regular maintenance has been done and prior to the issue it idled roughly. The next morning the vehicle wouldn’t start.

Ticking noise began out of nowhere, 2 days later accelerated from a stop light felt a jolt and then lost power and check engine light flashing. Took to closest dealer to have looked at. Dealer determination new engine needed, or have cams, headers, rockers, and lifters repaired. Engine has 68,000 miles on it.

The steering becomes stiff or seems to get stuck when between 10 or 11 o'clock position. It appears to be slowly deteriorating. It has not been reported yet and no warning lights showing. It does not yet stop the vehicle from being in control. It has been noticed over last year and not always as severe as other times.

In the dash bord power steering not aveleble warning also stop start not responding then servic charging....... not safe to drive this car at all. I had to go the dealership more than four times a year recently spending a lots of time and money. Again engen lights come up.

The van continues to accelerate when I'm braking. This has happened 4 times after an hour or two of driving the freeway. As we were exiting the car continued to Rev up as we applied the brakes. Thank God the light was green. Another time I tried to park and as I was braking the car was accelerating. I had to quickly put it in park position. The van is in the shop, Hunter Dodge, now and they ran a diagnostic test and failed to find a problem.

The left ball joint (front lower control arm) became squeakier and squeakier until the mechanic said it should be replaced or risk it failing while I drive which could leave me unable to steer/control the car. The mechanic said the dealer ought to cover it since they recalled some of this model year for this same issue on the right side but not all of them. The dealer would not cover replacement.
