2018 Jeep Compass owner complaints

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 Jeep compass. While driving various speeds, the vehicle randomly shut off on multiple occasions. The engine was restarted and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to island Chrysler (1239 hylan blvd, staten island, ny) where it was diagnosed that the engine oil was very low. The contact was informed that the engine shut off due to very low oil and operated as intended. The manufacturer provided case number: cas-71699220. The failure mileage was 13,200.

Engine sputtering, stalling, then shutting down during intersection turns while trying to move from a stationary position, etc. This started happening only recently during colder temperatures here in Michigan, December 2021, and has only happened at the second intersection on a declined roadway, and only if the vehicle engine has not been "warmed up". This issues has now occurred 4 times at the same declining intersection. My daughter drives this vehicle and transports herself and my 3 grandchildren!

Car burns a lot of oil, will shut down while driving. Will also say service transmission when idling for 5 minutes & not allow me to drive.

On three different occasions my engine has shut off and gone into a 'limp mode' while I am driving without any warning or indicator light activation. This has occurred while driving at high speeds and has nearly resulted in more than one multi-vehicle accidents. The parking brake engages and I am unable to restart the vehicle for several minutes thereafter. I was nearly rear ended on both occasions and had no ides what was wrong. Come to find out, there was minimal oil in the engine despite being dealer maintained in a timely fashion and well before the next oil change was due. Tl* the contact owns a 2018 Jeep compass. While driving 15 MPH, the vehicle stalled and completely shut off without warning. The contact mentioned that the vehicle had to be shifted into park and the start button had to be pressed multiple times before the vehicle would restart. The contact also mentioned that the failure occurred multiple times. The vehicle was towed to solomon Chrysler Jeep Dodge carmichaels (2605 east roy furman highway, carmichaels, pa 15320, (724) 966-2600) where it was diagnosed that the oil was low and needed to be changed. The dealer also informed the contact that the vehicle performed as designed because of the low oil. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not provided. The failure mileage was 32,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stop light, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The contact later noticed that the oil and coolant levels were low. The contact stated that he topped off the oil and refilled the coolant reservoir; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact topped off the oil and the coolant reservoir for a second time. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 52,000.

This Jeep cannot go 3,000 miles between oil changes. Even when using a fully synthetic oil that has a life span of 5,000 miles, the "low oil pressure" warning comes on. If not serviced, the vehicle stalls (usually while turning the steering wheel, usually in the middle of an intersection!). Upon towing it to a service station, they state that they can't fix it, only the dealership can fix it. The dealership states that it just needs an oil change. So, instead of using the "mileage to next oil change" sticker, I have to have the oil level checked to estimate when it will stall again. I do not feel safe in this car.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was idling at a red light the START/STOP system activated, causing the vehicle to turn off; however, while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle occasionally jumped or hesitated before restarting and accelerating as designed. The air bag and START/STOP warning lights were intermittently illuminated. The contact stated that the main control board computer screen was glitching and went completely black. The contact stated that the radio suddenly activated, and the windshield wipers were randomly activated even though the vehicle was turned off. There were several other electrical malfunctions

The car stalls or does not start. When we hit the start button it clicks and then the display says the car is running. By no means is the car running. We have checked the battery and disconnected the battery to see if it would reset anything. No go. This has also been happening since we bought the vehicle two years ago. It has now decided it will not start at all.

Vehicle warning lights for Service 4wd, ABS and the A! with arrow flashed on. The vehicle lost the ability to accelerate while turning at the stop light. Coasted to side of the road. Powered Vehicle off then back on. Stop/Start error message flashed on screen "start/stop unavailable Service Stop/Start system" Oil and coolant levels are good. Only error message remains is the stop/Start system.

I have had the car a year and the emergency brake randomly comes on by itself without having to push the emergency brake button. It usually happens when in reverse or just cranking the vehicle. Also tonight my radio and USB port completely turned off like I had turned my car off, while I was going down the road at 70 MPH. Then it turned back on by itself like I had just turned my car on, I was still driving down the road.

I have a 2018 Jeep compass that I purchased earlier this year in february. Later on in october I started getting a low oil pressure signal more specifically it would signal whenever I turn the steering wheel while driving. I took it to a Jeep technician turns out it was leaking oil and needed a whole engine replaced (keep in mind 2018 vehicle). Fast forward to now (only two months later) my car started shaking then progressively went to not even turning on at all while driving on city road the serv 4wd light turned on. Now it's back at the shop

In october of this year 2018. I bought a new Jeep compass. I complaint to the dealership about. I was told there nothing they can do. Every time you stop for a traffic light or come up on to a stop sign. The vehicle stall out. When remove your foot from the brake. It will restart. This can't be good for the starter. It's accident waiting happen. This is a safety issue I have with this vehicle. There should be recall on this vehicle to fix this before the people in this vehicle are injury or kill. When what!!!! If you read all of complaints about this vehicle. There are 94 complaints.

My hill brake activates while I'm in traffic, making u-turns, and driving. I took it to the dealership in january and they couldn't replicate the problem so they couldn't resolve it. They had it from january 25th to february 14th. Now my car isn't starting and the hill brake is activating. I got a new battery and an oil change on monday, december 23rd.

New Jeep wouldn't start with 1700 miles on it.failure light came on dashboard.while on the road car dashboard said" failure,vehicle will shut off , go to a safe place" it died and at least I made it to a parking lot. Terrifying experience! Had to have it towed to dealer.I have had it one month. Dealership said it may be an oil module problem that is recurring and it will keep happening! So much for buying a "safe" new car. I am disgusted. They told me to report it to Chrysler. They see this happening a lot! Why not inform consumers before purchase? I am afraid to even get it back. I don't want to drive it.

While driving the tachometer and the digital and analog speedometers went to zero. And the d for drive was flashing in the dash as well as at the shifter along with the parking brake light flashing also.when I pulled over and put it in park it shut itself off and would not immediately restart. This is a few months after taking to the dealer for the transmission not shifting and codes flashing. I have attached a photo taken at about 20 MPH of the tachometer and speedometers

The car stopped in the middle of freeway, I was lucky no one was behind me, so far three times it happened. Every time when it happened I was driving the car. The way it happens first my speed will reduced even though I was pushing the gas, and suddenly stops.

I was hit from behind on the interstate 2 weeks ago. My Jeep Compass was stopped in heavy traffic on the interstate. A large white pickup truck hit my car first going at least 80 mph. He did not see that traffic was stopped. This caused my jeep to roll and come to a stop on the passenger side on the ground and the driver side in the air. My airbags did deploy, but not on impact. They deployed after the jeep came to a stop on it's side. After impact and after rolling. The airbags were not useful after the jeep stopped moving. This needs to be addressed. I was hurt and did go to the ER. I did not have any passengers, thankfully, they may not have survived that. My seatbelt held me in well, it was hard to get out of it and I have many bruises from the seatbelt. My only issue was the timing of

Driver side wiper blade fell off while driving in a snow storm, resulting in wiper arm smacking back against windshield and cracking glass. Had to get windshield replaced and new wiper blades. Very dangerous. Professionally installed replacement blade also fell off during use during rain storm on christmas eve, leaving me stranded on side of highway. Why is this not included in recall with 2019 /20 models? Very very dangerous.
