Car won’t turn off. Frequent shift to park messages when already in park. This appears to be common known problem and should be recalled immediately.

To the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am submitting this letter as a **formal safety complaint** regarding repeated transmission failure in my **2019 Chevrolet Traverse**, which poses a potential risk to vehicle safety. In **December 2024**, while the vehicle was still covered under General Motors’ factory powertrain warranty, an authorized GM dealership diagnosed a serious transmission defect. Due to parts being on national backorder, the repair was delayed. When the repair was eventually performed, only partial components (torque converter and valve body) were replaced rather than the full transmission. Despite this repair, the transmission **failed again less than one year later**. In **November 2025**, a second authorized GM dealership confirmed that the transmiss
When I put the stick shift in park, it signals the vehicle is not in park. The dealership said this is a common problem with the traverse. They put in a bra to help it stay in park, the bra failed and they adjusted it again. I can start and stop the car but can't turn the car off. This happens in any environment, on a hill, flat land in/out of garage. Is tis dangerous to drive
Once shifting the car in park the car won’t shut off. It keeps stating “Shift to Park” the car has already been shifted to park. I have to shift my car over and over again to get it to cut off. Also when driving it keeps stating something about the track system.

I shifted to park and turned the engine off. The engine turned off, but began beeping and the message board said SHIFT TO PARK. I started the engine again and shifted in and out of park and turned off engine. The same beeping and the same error message. I tried several times, with the same results. The car would not lock, and the beeping would not stop. I left the car for 20 minutes and then started it again and turned it off. At that time it stopped beeping and there was no error message. I had several errands to run on that day, and each time I got the error message with the beeping, and could not lock the car. This is a safety issue because at each stop I had to leave the car unlocked. I am a [XXX] widow and was traveling alone. Also, I worried that someone could start the c
Turned on the car and a side detection system warning appeared on the dash warning me that the system was not working. Turned off the car and restarted it. Same warning. Blind spot system not working at all currently.
When I push the button to turn off vehicle it dings and says shift to park. I cannot stop it from doing it. One day my vehicle did it for 45 minutes. I could not do anything lock my door anything this is a hazard what if I was out of town and someone tried to steal my car because it would not stop doing this. I see on social media this is happening to a lot of 2019 chevy traverse owners.
When I put the car in PARK, turn the vehicle off, with my foot on the brake; the dashboard relentlessly signals to put the vehicle in Park. It will not stop this notice until I stop/start the car a few times or repeatedly press the gear shift lever. It happens intermittently, but at least 3-4 times a week. As a woman, the idea of going shopping and coming out to a dead car battery from this problem is always in the front in my mind and some stranger “helping” me, instead mugs me. I am terrified that it will cause an electrical fire under my carport and burn my house down with us inside. I haven’t had my Premiere long and absolutely love it and I have been a Chevy fan for years, but I have always felt Chevrolet took care of their customers. Is it going to take a terrible loss for these Tra

seatbelts 2 complaints shown
We bought the Chevy Traverse from Eagle Pass, Texas AutoWorld Dealership. We test drove the vehicle and made the car dealer aware that some of the seatbelts were not functioning and also that the breaks were making a screeching sound. The car dealer made notes and said he would have the seatbelts and brakes looked over at a later time. We. Still bought the vehicle and followed up with the dealership only to be told the car sales man no longer works there and that we would be charged a fee for having the seatbelts looked at totally disregarded the break issues. Now we have a newer vehicle but with faulty seatbelts and breaks.
The middle seat seatbelt got caught in the recline lever which caused the seatbelt to lock and there is know way of releasing it, making the seatbelt unusable.
lighting 1 complaint shown
Left rear light side-marker assembly is not functional after 3 years in service and less than 29,000 miles. The side marker indicator inside the vehicle flashes rapidly (in quick succession) when the left blinker is applied. This indicated to me that a bulb was out. Initially, all lights were working when inspecting and inside flasher was quickly blinking. After checking multiple times, the left rear blinker finally stopped working altogether. This left rear indicator mark prevents others from knowing which direction I'm turning unless I stick my left arm out the window. The vehicle was taken in to dealership. Dealership said it needed the light assembly replaced at a cost of ~$867. We may have this done outside of an OEM dealership due to cost.
