2020 Toyota RAV4 owner complaints

Vehicle indicates fuel empty (gas gauge and warnings) after approx 350 miles. Fuel tank supposed to be 14.5 gal., but tank only accepts 9-10 gallons fuel before shutoff. 1 full tank from dealer plus 1 fill-up with same result. Vehicle also only averaging 36 MPG after 2 tanks mostly highway & now into 1 tank mixed city/highway (Toyota indicates 38 highway/40 city). Either fuel tank is defective/capacity is inaccurate, gauges/computer/warnings are defective, or both?

-Windshield cowl not properly screened from manufacturer in order to protect from rodents entering . Gas light comes on after the car has consumed ~10 gallons. The vehicle is advertised having 14.5 gallon tank with 580 mile trip.

Within a week from the date of purchase ,the vehicle did not start , had to be towed back to the dealer, dealer says the vehicle started normally the problem did not duplicate at their end. No fault detected. 9 months later when the vehicle had a mileage of 6066 again it failed to start, had to be towed back to the dealer, dealer again started the vehicle normally no fault was detected, later when the vehicle had the mileage of 7079 the vehicle stalled while in que in a gas station. Flashing notification in the dash board indicated "dirt in the engine" the vehicle was towed back to the dealer for the third time in a year next day dealer says they did not find any issue in the vehicle. Vehicle gas tank will not fill to capacity.. I am stoping at gas stations all the time because I am flying through gas ..and it's a hybrid ..won't fill more than 9 or 10 gals .. The vehicle has no range for a hybrid which is the exact opposite of what they say when they're trying to sell you one.. Had I known I would be at a gas station every 3 day's with a hybrid I would have never bought it

Tether anchors are missing or not visible. The labels are missing as well. I'm trying to use a carseat forward facing and need to use the tether anchors. Couldn't upload the pictures.

Check engine light came on and noted a malfunction in the electronic control of the engine, throttle or transmission. When taken to the dealer they found code P012807 related to engine cooling and suggested a replacement of the thermostat. This part should have a life of 100k or 8-10 years and car currently has less than 60k miles and 4 years old. Asked the dealership about known recall 20TA04 - for engine cooling recall but they insisted my car was not impacted. This is a safety issue as it could result in overheating of the engine leading to fire hazards.

Engine bypass coolant valve… Engine maintenance required pops up intermittently. Per dealer there is a short circuit in valve/ bypass part. The dealer had already known this was issue prior to car being diagnosed. They stated they are aware and this is a known issue.

2020 RAV4 with 47,589 miles. The engine maintenance light came on. It turns off once I shut off the vehicle and start it up again. It only comes back on when I put the air conditioner or heater on. I was told it's the heater control valve/coolant bypass valve and would cost around $900+ to repair. I did some research and see that this problem is occurring alot.

Bypass Coolant Valve malfunctioned resulting in Engine Maintenance Required triggered. Because I do distance driving at high speeds, any potential engine issue poses a risk to safety. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer/service center. The component in question has not been inspected by the manufacturer. The warning sign that states "Engine Maintenance Required" appeared on the dashboard and remains.

Car battery completely drained after not being driven for 24 hours leaving me stranded. Car would not start and had to be jump started. There is an electrical issue causing quick and significant battery drain. Car was purchased in september 2020 and has less than 10,000 miles.

The Rear Hatch started to get stuck. It is automatic so you would normally press a button to open and close and it would slowly move up or down and close shut on its own. When the issue started, it would "pop open" but stay stuck to a point where I would need to manually lift it open. (hitting my head on it often) Right before I took it to the dealership service, it would not close properly. While it seemed close, the notification showed it open therefore, not allowing me to lock my car and the lights on the car would need to stay on while car was parked and off. Coolant bypass valve needs to be replaced per Toyota. Many people are having this problem.

Wire harness failure according to the Toyota dealership representative I spoke with after inspection on 12/18/24. Rep said this is a known issue with certain years and they will cover cost of replacement. Previously, I had received a message stating, "Hybrid System Malfunction, Visit your Dealer" but could not get an appointment until 12/18. The dealer rep said they needed to order parts to fix the wire harness issue and that I would be okay taking the car and bringing it back when parts were in. The day after the inspection (12/19) I was in a Walmart parking lot and my car started but I could not get it to drive or reverse. A message stated "Vehicle not ready to drive" and "No power to rear brakes". If I put the car into drive or reverse and stepped on the gas, the car interior lit up and

This recall has been in place for over a year and Toyota cannot tell us when there will be a remedy for it meanwhile, driving a passenger in my only vehicle is unsafe.

Squealing noise when stopping or braking under 3 mph.

Air conditioning stopped working twice, first time repaired at my expense and now it's out again less than 2 months later. Repair was 1500.00 first time. Second continues to rattle from mirrors, front end and carrying rack. My right front fog light out and service said front end was very loose.

Steering is too loose to control. I brought to dealer 3 times they said it ok every times. I feel are not safe, especially when on high ways. Last week almost sliced from the road. What should I do?
