2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer owner complaints

When parking and trying to shutoff vehicle a warning stating that the car needs to be shifted into park needs to be performed even though it is already properly in the parked position. The car cannot be shutoff and remains running until several actions of shifting the car in and out of the park position.

The cruise control system intermittently fails to engage indicating an error with the system. After several random occasions it was finally determined that the issue is related to the brake pedal sensor not determining that the brake pedal has been fully released. It requires having to manually pull the brake pedal up to properly set the sensor to allow the cruise control system to engage. This does not present any clear danger in itself, however, after having the vehicle inspected the manufacturer service center states that the entire pedal assembly has to be replaced because of worn parts and that the pedal may continue to get worse. “Shift to Park” message came on the dashboard. Car would not change gear or go into reverse or drive. Basically stuck in Park position. Car kept peeping sound nonstop for over 20 minutes. And it drained the battery. Car would not drive. Had to have it towed to the dealership I brought it from 45 miles away. I had to pay $656.72 at dealership to get it fixed. The dealership removed and replaces the shifter assembly which cost $656.72.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact was informed by a mobile Safelite technician that there were minor spider web cracks on the windshield. The windshield was replaced by Safelite. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. Shift to Park is Displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIC) When Vehicle attempting to turn vehicle off. This is a known issue to manufacturer, but not warrantied fixes are being offered. (TSB 23-NA-119)

Shift Control Assembly (Shift to Park Issue) I bought a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer custom, and around 57,550 miles it started throwing a shift to park error message. This does not allow me to turn my car off complete as it does not recognize it’s in park. It has been looked at by Dealer and parts are back ordered no known fix for it. This is a well known issue from Chevrolet but they only cover it under bumper to bumper and not Powertrain, but everywhere I read it’s a Powertrain issue. This will drain my battery inhibiting my ability to use my vehicle which is only 2 years old. This could be a safety concern since the car isn’t recognizing it’s in park therefore not allowing it to shutdown and leaving electricity running through it all the time. Let alone a huge hassle for the drivers

The contact stated that the gear shifter was slammed into park(P) until park was registered on the shift indicator. I am reporting a recurring “Shift to Park” malfunction with my 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. When I shift the vehicle into Park and attempt to turn it off, the dashboard displays a “Shift to Park” message, and the vehicle remains in Accessory Mode rather than shutting down completely. The vehicle continues drawing electrical power and the battery drains overnight. For about a month now my vehicle is telling me to put it in park when it is already in park. Have to restart multiple times and go through all the gears put it back in park turn it off and still get the "shift to park" error. It does not happen every time I use my vehicle, but it happens so much I am unsure if it is safe to use. Even though it shows it is in park I wonder is it really? I have called the dealer where I purchased it for them to look at it and they will not even schedule an appointment because they say the parts are on back order and they have no idea when they will get them. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH on an open highway with the adaptive cruise control engaged, the system sensed an unknown object and slammed on the brakes. The adaptive cruise control was turned off. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,500.

Issue: When the vehicle is put into park and the ignition is turned off, the vehicle may not recognize that it is in park and a message will appear. This can make it difficult to turn off the ignition and remove the key. The “Shift to Park” message appears in the Driver Information Center of my 2022 Chevy Trailblazer. The cause of this is a malfunction in the park switch inside the shifter assembly of my Chevy Trailblazer. My local Chevy dealer advised me that some vehicles are getting recalls for this issue, however my vehicle has not. There are currently two Class Action Lawsuits pending on this issue - one in Tennessee and one in Ohio. I would just like my repair to fall under a recall since there are so many issues throughout the United States on this part it does not seem fair

I get a "Shift to Park" error message even though the car is in the park position as all indicator says it's in park. If I wiggle the shifter it would go away and come back on when i drive it again. On November 1st I came home from work and it would go off at all, I tried everything, wiggling the shifter, put in drive and back in park took if for ride around the block and it still would go off even after 20 minutes. My husband had to remove one of the battery terminal so the battery would die. It did reset it for a few days but now it's back. I reported the issue to the dealer the first time it happen but they can't get me for 3 weeks. This is a hazer if it doesn't go off as I can't lock my car and my husband isn't always with me especially when I go to work.

“shift to park” on my dash screen preventing me from locking my car and the accessories all remain on. I have to disconnect my battery otherwise my car dies if it remains on. I reconnect the battery regardless of how long it has been disconnected and the same shift to park issue reappears this first happened 10/24/23 and again today 10/26/23

Vehicle is little over one month old and has less than two thousand (2000) miles. Adaptive Cruise has been acting erratically. At times going at highway speed on expressway adaptive cruise would apply hard brakes 1. when approaching a overhead bridge. 2. passing a vehicle in the adjacent lane and 3. changing lane. Yesterday (10/12/2022) on a higway the instrument panel displayed a warning message "Service Side Detection System". Took it to GM Dealer who ran a Diagnostic which showed the following codes: 1. B1325 Control Module Power Circuit Low Voltage 2. B317A Passenger Window Switch Short to Ground 3. U0151 Lost communication with inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module 4. U 0155 Lost Communication with Instrument Cluster 5. U0184 Lost Communication with Radio 6. U

The vehicle intermittently warns about a Power Steering issue with no other indications to the problem. There are no physical issues detected while driving. The error displays at random times and will reset intermittently. This started occurring at the same time the car constantly indicates that it is not in park when trying to shutoff the vehicle even though it is clearly shifted into park.

The contact stated while driving 20 MPH and attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop. After the failure, the "Service ESC" and "Service Power Steering" messages were displayed. The contact stated that months later, upon starting the vehicle, the "Shift to Park" message was displayed and the vehicle failed to recognize that the shifter was still in park(P). The check engine and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the braking system needed to be updated and that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance

On this vehicle the manufacturer is using plastic exhaust brackets. This bracket broke while driving on interstate. This caused the entire exhaust system to drop. When this happens the pipes underneath the car can break and cause serious damage to underside of vehicle which can then cause sparking and explosion or vehicle crash. Looking at pics below you will see the defective plastic part is GM Part# 42708943.

The contact’s daughter owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while her daughter’s vehicle was idled at a stop, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. As a result, the contact’s daughter crashed into the rear of another vehicle in front of her. The air bags failed to deploy. Medical attention was required. The contact’s daughter and the front passenger both sustained muscle soreness. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however, no diagnosis was determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The three bolts at the flange attaching the muffler to the upper muffler sheared off due to rust and the whole rear muffler fell off when driving the car on an interstate. Car is 3 years old and at the time had 65,000 miles. The bolts used are of poor quality, and to make matters worse, there is no exhaust hanger near this flange so the muffler is supported at the front by just this flange. Poorly designed by GM.
