I had just left home and was about two blocks from my house when the engine stopped running and the word “malfunction” appeared on the display. It would not restart until I hit the off button and then I restarted it. Definite safety issue if I had been on the freeway or a busy street.

On Three (3) occasions, my engine has Stopped while the car was in gear and in motion. I was at great risk when this happened twice on August 7, 2024 while in traffic and my car stopped in the middle of traffic. One time I was able to coast into a parking lot. However, the second time the car stopped in the traffic lane. I was very lucky not to have been hit in the rear. In each case, I was able to restart the engine. One time I received a "Malfunction" notice on the dashboard. I immediately took the car to a Mercedes dealer for evaluation on August 8, 2024.. Dealer found Diagnostic Code P060C00 and did a "Standstll Adaption". On September 29, 2024, the engine once again stopped running while the car was in Reverse gear (Third Time) and I was backing out of a parking space. No malfunction
This has happened once before and I reported it then. This time I was stopped at a stop light and when I pressed the accelerator to go when the light turned green, the engine was off and would not go. The screen only said "malfunction" and no error codes (as before). I pressed the start button to turn the car off and then restarted it. It was fine after that. I have left a message with my service agent at my Mercedes dealership. I had previously told them that this had happened before. I am concerned about the safety of a car the stalls like this. Please investigate. I see other reports about this from E class car owners on line in various forums.

I purchased an E450 Mercedes before reaching my first service appointment while driving my two daughters home from school the car began to shake uncontrollably, lost power, and then the engine light and oil lights came on. The car was towed to the manufacturer dealership for repair. It was determined that the piston number four was broken and the engine needed to be completely replaced. Less than two months after having the entire engine replaced the car broke down again with a similar shaking. This time one of my children and their friend were in the vehicle with me. The car was towed back to the dealership where they said the fuel pump went out and needed to be replaced. When I arrived to pick up the car, the technician pulling the car around noticed the shaking and the engine light on a

My 2023 Mercedes 450E car was purchased on June 11, 2023 and has 1,750 miles. On 2 to 3 different occasions, I was stopped at a light waiting to make a left turn, fortunately my light was red and not a green permitting turning, which would have meant I would have pulled up and into the cross section to prepare to turn; I pushed the gas in the drive position and large red malfunction letters displayed across the dashboard and the car just revved. I put it in park and then drive postion a few times and had the same result. Finally, I turned the car off and back on, put it in drive, pushed the gas and it went. I live in Miami, with the serious traffic congestion. The issues that my stalled car caused blocking other drivers’ passage through a few lights, can only be imagined Fortunately, no ac
While driving, malfunction warning flashed on dash, followed by 48v malfunction warning, then engine coolant overheat warning. The car then went into limp mode and finally stopped completely. Luckily this occurred on a residential street and not on a high speed freeway - the car gave very little warning before drastically reduced speed and shutting down systems. A 48 volt battery problem should have a redundant system to prevent the engine from overheating and not shutting down the vehicle at speed. Very dangerous!
My first incident was on July 17, 2023, the transmission shifted from drive to neutral, with out me touching the gear shift lever in any way. My safety and any passengers I have in this car, could be at risk, at this point I was going about 40 MPH, going into a gradual curve, entering a Entrance to 95 north, I had slowed down to the entrance ramp speed, this is when the transmission went from Drive to Neutral, with out me touching the gear shift lever. I had a appointment at Quirk Auto Park, there service dept. in Bangor, Maine, no warning lamps came on the dashboard, they proceeded to put the diagnostic tool on the car, they came out maybe 15or20 minutes later, they didn’t find anything. The first incident I also reported to the NHTSA. The second incident took place on 10/20/23, I

The fuel pump on my vehicle failed multiple times, including coming off start / stop at traffic lights, as well as when being started. When at a stop light turning from red to green, my car did not respond, putting me in danger of being hit from behind. The vehicle is being repaired under warranty at a manufacturer dealership. It appears this is a known issue under NHTSA recall 23V445000, although my vehicle is not currently included in the recall after a VIN search of the NHTSA check for recalls page. My vehicle exhibited the same signs as others affected by this recall, including flashing "malfunction" when it occurred.
This is the second report filing about the trunk lid closing without initiating the automatic closure. In order to keep this record accurate, the vehicle was brought into the Mercedes Benz dealer, (where it was purchased), on May 23, 2023. The service advisor came to the car to instruct me on how to use the mechanism. He was unable to operate it correctly either. The car was also brought in for other needed repairs. When the car was returned to me on May30th, this same service advisor reported to me that the dealership was unable to correct the problem with the trunk lid mechanism. On June 12, when I was retrieving some items from my trunk, NOT using the automatic mechanism, the trunk lid unexpectedly crashed down and struck me in the head. I experienced headache and bruise on the back of
May 4, 2023 at approximately 5:45 PM, while reaching into the trunk of my car, the trunk lid came crashing down on me. To avoid being struck on the head, I blocked it with me left forearm. The trunk lid caused a large nasty and painful wound. I immediately texted my sales person, and text him a picture of my injury. I also left a voicemail message for him at the dealership. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the issue with the truck lid has happened to me. On another occasion, while reaching into the trunk, I was able to avoid being struck by the trunk lid, when it unexpectedly came crashing down. At approximately 8:50 AM, on May 5, 2023, a follow-up call was made to the dealership since my salesman did not return my call. The male who I spoke to about this serious safety issue assu
While driving the vehicle in normal road conditions the car suddenly stop and activated the seat belts. This incidents has happened 4 times. The vehicle has been taken to the Mercedez-Benz service and it gas been released with no findings. I am concerned with this safety issue on my leased vehicle and the risk to cause a collision or injury. The last incident occurred on 3/8/2026, while driving the car.

I am submitting this complaint regarding serious and repeated electronic failures in my 2023 Mercedes-Benz E 450 that pose a significant safety risk to myself and other drivers on the road. The vehicle has experienced complete dashboard failures on multiple occasions, including the loss of speedometer, fuel gauge, and gear shift indicators. Most critically, the vehicle recently shut down while in motion, displaying a “malfunction” warning and disabling the electronic steering system. I was unable to maneuver the vehicle off the road, creating an extremely dangerous situation. This vehicle has been brought to the dealership three or more times for the same issue, with no permanent resolution. I believe this constitutes a serious safety defect. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investi
The contact owns a 2023 Mercedes-Benz E450. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds with the cruise control activated, a yellow "Active Lane Keeping Assistance is Inoperable" message was displayed, followed by a red "Emergency Braking to Begin" message displayed on the instrument panel. To prevent the failure, the contact immediately deactivated the cruise control. The dealer was notified about the failure on several occasions, and two separate cases were filed with the manufacturer. The dealer replaced the steering wheel, replaced several fuses, and performed several software updates to correct the failure under warranty; however, the failure persisted after each repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,500.
