Auto Dimming Headlights are so sensitive that they essential do not work. Auto dimming is a safety feature, but it puts the driver at risk by shutting the high beams off in situations they should be on to increase visability. The dealer says they are 'working as designed' but with further discussion, admits to them being 'useless'. The dealer used their diagnostic tool and says no error was found. The auto dimming headlights have never worked properly since time of purchase. We also have a 2022 Ridgeline that exhibits the same problem. We paid for the feature but it has never worked, even after reporting to the service department at the dealer.

Automatic high beam feature works erratically, randomly flashing high beams, failure to dim high beams for oncoming traffic or when following traffic.

10/28/2024 ODI #11622231.0

The auto highbeam system has an inherent safety issue. When active, it may turn on the highbeams automatically when there are oncoming close vehicles, thus blinding the oncoming drivers with the potential of causing an accident. The system also may not even activate the highbeam lights when there is no oncoming vehicles and the road is dark. I have great safety concerns regarding this system. I had a 2017 Honda Ridgeline black edition that had the auto highbeam functionality. That system worked perfectly. But sometime between then and my current 2024 edition, they have changed the technology in the system to cause it to be a safety hazard. This needs to be a recall so that Honda will install a fix.

09/15/2025 ODI #11687477.0

Using the Automatic High Beam system, the high beam may come on even if a car is coming toward me. Sometimes, the high beam will not transition to low beam until the incoming car is real close to me. The incoming car would put his high beam on to warn me. As well, the high bean can randomly transition to low beam for no reason. And a second after, come back to high beam. Really dangerous. I had other cars with this system and never had that kind of problems.

08/12/2025 ODI #11680270.0

Auto-dimming headlights do not work properly, not always dimming for oncoming traffic, and/or randomly switching between high and low beams without cause. This blinds and confuses oncoming traffic.

Auto Start/Stop Malfunction. On two occasions the Auto start/stop has shut the engine off at a stop light and after releasing the brake the vehicle went completely dead. Dashboard/radio and all electronics dead. After multiple attempts the vehicle finally restarted. Now the normal start is sluggish like a low battery. Battery was replaced under warranty and check out multiple times by the dealership with them not able to find any issues.

I attempted to have this recall address with no remediation. I went to the Dealer 2 months ago and called Honda's recall line and was told that Honda is not equipped to repair the vehicle due to a parts shortage.

4 times since I owned the truck it has stalled at traffic lights. The dashboard tells me there is an issue and tells me go in park. Then put my foot on the brake and start it normally. It does not restart. After 20 clicks twice it restarted only after I exited the vehicle, locked the door and reentered the vehicle. One time I was left at the light for an hour waiting for a tow truck. A police office tried to start it, and he put his foot on the gas. Eventually it started. The truck has less than 1,500 miles on it. The dealerships that have seen car did not find an error code so there is nothing they can do at this time. I took a video today when it happened for the 4th time to see if it helps. I saw online a similar problem with the Pilot from 2020-2022.

While idling at a traffic light,2 systems shut down: Adaptive Cruise Control & Road Departure Mitigation System. Also the BRAKE SYSTEM light came on, but the brakes continued to work.

I was driving alone on US-HWY 45 in Chunchula, AL......I heard the loudest noise ever sounded like a high power rifle blast in my ear then I was showered with glass. The sunroof exploded. I had a police report written, I literally thought I had been shot at. There was only myself and one other very small vehicle way ahead of me. No trees hanging over the road or anything.

The vehicle’s engine and powertrain management system repeatedly fails with multiple DTC's triggering a full-system cascade of safety-critical warnings and automatic power-limiting. The issue affects the engine, transmission, emissions, AWD, brake system, stability assist, steering assist, ABS/VSA, hill-start assist. The vehicle is fully available for inspection upon request. During each failure, the vehicle abruptly enters reduced-power “limp mode” without warning—resulting in loss of engine power, disabled AWD, and disables all safety/stability systems. These events have occurred in normal traffic, including at red lights and in intersections, creating a risk of rear-end collisions, inability to accelerate, and loss of vehicle control. The issues with this vehicle and the ongoing problems related to the Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking have previously been reported to you under complaint number 11619917. With additional events, the vehicle has again been taken back to the dealer and the issues reported to American Honda. The mechanical conditions still exist. The dealer has driven the vehicle and now says that the known conditions are normal? They also blame the conditions on the roads being driven (County and State Highways)? How can a vehicle manufacturer be allowed to sell vehicles with known safety defects? By itself, that is outrageous. I am uploading the dealer repair invoice for the most recent events. Can someone take this seriously and do something before there is an accident and

While traveling at the posted speed, the automatic emergency braking system applied the brakes without any vehicle in front of us. The speed limit on this particular road is 50 miles per hour. The braking was so sudden and applied with force that the vehicles traveling behind us had to apply their brakes to avoid a collision with us. This has happened before, but never with such force. The date I have given below is the most recent event. The issues have been reported to the dealer without resolution.
