Is there a fix? Manufacturer service bulletins

The manufacturer has issued service bulletins covering suspension on this vehicle — documented repair instructions, service campaigns, or warranty extensions sent to dealers. A TSB isn't a recall (it's not a free safety remedy), but it's the manufacturer acknowledging the issue and how to fix it.

Service Bulletin RCA-18-24-001-3 Aug 2025

Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2023-2024 R1T and R1S vehicles. On these vehicles, the wheel hub to knuckle joint may have been assembled with an updated fastener using a torque value intended for the previously-used fastener. A fastener torqued to the previously-used lower value may cause an audible noise while driving at low speeds but will not impact vehicle performance. Rivian will retorque the affected fasteners and, if necessary, replace them. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. Note: This document supersedes RCA-18-24-001-2. Revision 3 updates the approximate build dates.

Service Bulletin RSB-18-24-001-1 Jul 2024

Rivian is initiating a technical service bulletin for some 2022-2024 R1T and R1S vehicles. In some situations, the driver may notice a squeaking or chirping noise coming from the front of the vehicle when driving on uneven surfaces below 32 km/h (20 mph). This condition does not affect vehicle performance. Upon customer complaint of this squeaking or chirping noise, Rivian will replace the front hydraulic jounce lines with upgraded components to eliminate the noise.

Rivian has a 'kneel' option that uses the powered air suspension to lower the vehicle to make entry and exiting the vehicle easier for users. Yes, this can be turned off or on. When on, the function stops if a main door (driver/passenger) is open and left open the car will not continue to kneel for safety purposes. However, it does NOT stop if you are using the rear hatch to access anything.…

On [XXX], I was driving my Rivian R1S on [XXX] in the far left lane at highway speed on a smooth, straight road when I suddenly and completely lost control of the vehicle without warning. The vehicle swerved right, struck a vehicle in the middle lane, then veered left, spun, and collided head-on with the guardrail on the right side of the road. I was evaluated at the scene by EMT. There were no…

It's a meaningful issue. 3 complaints have been filed and the failure mode causes operational problems for owners. Repairs average $900.

At what mileage does the suspension typically fail?

Mileage data is limited for this issue. Owners report failures across a wide range, suggesting cause is more about driving conditions and maintenance than mileage alone.
