Is there a fix? Manufacturer service bulletins

The manufacturer has issued service bulletins covering powertrain on this vehicle — documented repair instructions, service campaigns, or warranty extensions sent to dealers. A TSB isn't a recall (it's not a free safety remedy), but it's the manufacturer acknowledging the issue and how to fix it.

This is a TJ Text only no attachments - The breakpoint for the latest (third) GHCA hardware generation is serial number S00053758, which represents the first and lowest number of the third generation. The serial number can be found on the hardware, where "S000xxxxx" is printed on the type label. For replaced GHCAs with serial numbers before S00053758, a Vehicle Report is not required for Warranty Claim acceptance if VIDA fault tracing clearly indicates that the GHCA must be replaced. For replaced GHCAs with serial numbers after S00053758, please create a Support Not Needed Vehicle Report. See the Vehicle Report section below for more information.

1. The passenger side daytime fog light occasionally fails to operate, which could be a safety concern in certain driving conditions. 2. The one-pedal drive feature automatically switches off, even though it is saved in my profile. This may present a hazard if I accelerate as if one-pedal drive is still active. 3. The blind spot warning system does not provide an audible alert, and it sometimes…

One pedal driving randomly turns off when starting the vehicle. This is a safety issue because we often don't notice its off until we're attempting to stop and taking your foot off the accelerator does not result in braking as expected.

powertrain · filed 07/14/2025

The vehicle gear selector had reverse (R) selected and pressing the accelerator pedal caused the vehicle to drive forwards. This appears to have been a result of enabling the "one pedal drive" function from the infotainment display while the gear selector was already in reverse. The mismatch of selected / indicated direction vs the resulting direction is a safety issue

Common questions

How serious is the powertrain problem on the 2025 Volvo EX90?

It's a documented issue but not catastrophic. 7 complaints have been filed. Repairs average $2,500 and most owners catch it before it causes a breakdown.

At what mileage does the powertrain typically fail?

Mileage data is limited for this issue. Owners report failures across a wide range, suggesting cause is more about driving conditions and maintenance than mileage alone.

What does it cost to fix?

Independent shops typically charge around $2,500 for powertrain repairs on this vehicle. Dealer pricing tends to run 20-40% higher. The exact figure depends on the specific failure mode, parts availability, and your local labor rates. If you're outside factory warranty, an extended service contract often covers this category.

Are there any recalls related to powertrain?

No active recalls currently cover powertrain issues on this vehicle. The complaints filed represent owner-reported failures that haven't risen to the level of a manufacturer-issued recall — but they're still worth knowing about before you buy or budget for repairs.
