Recall Roundup: 2 New Vehicle Recalls (July 15, 2026)

This week's notable NHTSA recalls — what's failing on each vehicle, the safety risk, and the fix.

Two recalls this week. Both are compliance issues, and both come down to safety information or hardware that has to be right before you load up or buckle in.

2026 Toyota Tundra

Southeast Toyota Distributors is recalling one 2026 Tundra because the load carrying capacity modification label is wrong. That label tells you how much weight the truck can safely handle, so a bad one can lead to overloading and a higher crash risk (NHTSA campaign 26V433000). The fix is simple: SET will mail the owner a correct label at no charge, with notification letters expected September 4, 2026. If you have questions, call SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226 and reference SET26A.

2026 Nissan Leaf

Nissan is recalling certain 2026 Leaf vehicles over the outer rear seat belt retractors. The automatic locking retractors can shut off too early, which means a child restraint may not lock in the way it should (NHTSA campaign 26V425000). If that child seat isn’t held tight, it may not protect the child in a crash. Dealers will replace the rear outboard seat belt assemblies for free. Nissan planned to send interim letters warning owners of the risk starting July 17, 2026, with follow-up letters once parts are ready. Owners can call Nissan customer service at 800-647-7261 and reference R26A7. The affected VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 7, 2026.
