Recall Roundup: 3 New Vehicle Recalls (September 18, 2026)

Three recalls this week, and two of them are airbag problems. Here’s what’s failing and what the dealer will do about it.
2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
The pivot bolts holding the roof rack crossbars may not have been tightened right, so a crossbar can come loose and fall off. A crossbar that detaches on the road turns into a hazard for you and anyone behind you, which raises the crash risk. Dealers will replace the pivot bolts free of charge under campaign 26V584000. This one covers a wider range than just the 2026 Grand Wagoneer: 2022-2025 Wagoneer, 2022-2026 Grand Wagoneer, 2023-2025 Wagoneer L, and 2023-2026 Grand Wagoneer L are all included. Interim letters go out October 8, 2026, with a second notice once the fix is ready. Chrysler’s number for this recall is 81D, and their customer line is 1-800-853-1403. 2026 Ford Explorer
The active vent on the passenger-side airbag may not open the way it should, which keeps the airbag from deploying properly. If that airbag doesn’t do its job in a crash, the person in the passenger seat faces a higher risk of injury. Dealers will replace the passenger airbag module at no cost under campaign 26V581000. Owner letters are expected September 25, 2026. Ford’s number for this recall is 26S65, and you can reach customer service at 1-866-436-7332. 2026 Ford Bronco
The mounting bracket on the right-side curtain airbag may have a metal burr that can tear the airbag when it deploys. A torn airbag may not hold an occupant in place during a crash, so injury risk goes up. The fix here is different from a full replacement: dealers will increase the gap between the bracket and the airbag to stop the contact, free of charge, under campaign 26V580000. Interim letters were expected September 15, 2026, with follow-up letters once the remedy is ready, anticipated in October 2026. Ford’s number for this recall is 26S64, and the customer line is 1-866-436-7332. VINs have been searchable on NHTSA.gov since September 10, 2026.
