2006 Cadillac SRX owner complaints

2006 Cadillac srx. Consumer writes in regards to power brake, engine power and power steering issue.* ld the consumer stated the vehicle cut off three times. *jb

Gas gage, temp gage doesn't light up, power steering doesn't work, tail gate won't open, t/c light stays on, lock light stays on ignition getting hard to turn key off, car stalled. 2006 Cadillac srx. When turning ignition on. It works some time when weather is cold, when it warms up it quits working.

Cadillac srx from years 2004-2009 has a problem with burnt out front turn signal/running light bulbs. To change an $8.00 bulb cost about $150-200 because of the amount of work to access the bulb. I feel that because this is a turn signal (safety) problem gm should have fixed the problem for free or made an engineering change which they didn't. The web shows numerous complaints from srx owners who have changed the bulbs numerous times and gave up and now have no front turn signals. Most who have fixed the problem say that the bulb runs too hot cracking the ac-delco socket(19120947). The last time I replaced the bulbs one burnt out in a week. My vehicle is an 2004 Cadillac srx AWD 3.6 l 6 cylinder engine and as 10/3/2004 my mileage is 40065. Bulbs have burnt out 4 times. *tr

Turned key to start truck, smoke came out of ac vents and steering column, acrid odor accompanied smoke. Shut key off exited vehicle, flames erupted in vehicle, called fire dept. They arrived 20 minutes later, car was heavily damaged. Vehicle towed to Cadillac dealership. Truck considered total loss. I sustained injury exiting vehicle , as I am 7 months pregnant. *jb

As a result, the vehicle crashed into a guardrail and suddenly veered to the left. The vehicle landed on grass and the air bags failed to deploy. The driver and front passenger did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. When I turn on the car the gas gauge and the temp gauge do not move. The security and no traction warning lights stay on. When I drive the car on the street steering is sluggish, the trans rpms are high, sometimes the car goes to the left while driving. On the radio there it reads anti theft system hit button to clear. When I turn off the car the key will not come out of ignition and I have to use screwdriver to push a button in steering column to release it. One week everything worked great, no warning lights, gauges worked, no high rpms on trans and steering was fine and the key came out of the ignition and nothing on radio about anti theft sys. But everything is not working again and now engine light is on.

The vehicle independently went into four wheel drive mode and would not accelerate. It felt as if the anti-lock brake was engaged. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic and the steering angle position sensor was replaced, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

2006 Cadillac SRX turn signals burn out within months or replacement. I made 2 videos of me fixing it, put on YouTube with over 35, 000 views. That must mean there are lots of folks with this problem that don't know where to report it. While driving, the indicator flashes a bit faster than it should - the only clue it isn't working. You think other drivers know your intentions and they don't. This is dangerous. Mechanics have to pull the bumper, a bit of work, and want over $300 to change the bulb. Over and over again. This is the 5th time in 3 years. 2nd problem is the "Stability System" - well, I'm not driving on ice, have never needed such a thing. This one nearly cause me to crash into a curb or parked car as I was making a left hand turn in our residential neighborhood at what 15 mph

*The chest clip failed. At the beginning, we had a very hard time unlatching the chest clip to where we thought we needed to cut it. Later, the chest clip started to become very loose to where my son could undo it by just touching it, then one evening it did not latch on at all. *It is available for inspection upon request. *The car seat has not been inspected by anyone. The child seat is temporarily in my home until it is in the clear to be discarded after the recall. I have not notified Maxi Cosi.

Oil sensor unit failure causing engine to lose oil. A realproblem.

Vehicle stutters like it is trying to turn off or the wheels are catching on something. This happens when first pulling out and sometimes when driving. Mostly happens after making a u turn. (does not matter if the turn is tight or not). Car hesitates and then straightens itself out. This is dangerous and hard to figure out. The first time it happened I had pulled into traffic in front of a big truck if there hadn't been a turn lane for me to get into he would have run me over. This has been happening for 3-4 months not. The stability control service just came up today. There are not warnings otherwise.

The contact removed his foot off the accelerator pedal and the light turned off and he was able to continue accelerating. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000 and the current mileage was approximately 38,500.

I have a 2006 srx, with 18k miles. My sunroof shattered while I was driving on the freeway 12-28-07. It was a clear day with no debris on the road. My sunshade was closed due to the constant consumer complaints so I was not hurt. After pulling over on the freeway, I inspected the sunroof to see if something had caused it to completely shatter. There was not anything on the sunshade to indicate what has caused it to shatter. They have not said whether it will be covered under warranty or not, but they have had two other srx's come in with that same problem just recently. *tr

The police inspected the sunroof and stated that the window shattered on it's own and wasn't vandalism. The police didn't feel the need to provide a police report. An insurance claim was filed. General motors stated that the repair was the contact's responsibility. The price to repair the sun roof was $1,300. The purchase date, VIN and engine size were not available. The current and failure mileages were 115,000.

Power train axle is not right rear differential etc wheeels and rim get stuck when turnning either left or right key ring locks or get stuck. Shocks and stabitlty ligt comes on saying it needs fixing and tire sensor

Air conditioner froze up and had to be replaced. Had less than 50,000 miles. *tr

"takata recall" change oil light on continuously even after oil has been changed and cannot reset. Airbag light on also both warning lights come on when cranking and while driving. My traction engages when emerging to turn on to incoming traffic the car slows down. My concern is the roads are not wet or slippery for the traction to engage and that's a safety concern , it could cause an accident. My airbag light just recently started coming on and reading the owner's manual. It would be a safety issue if I had an impact it won't deploy or while driving it could deploy. I've heard that Cadillac has a lot of electrical problems and I wanted to know if other people complained of these problems. It is a safety issue and some people like me or not financially able to pay $100 plus
