2007 Cadillac SRX owner complaints

Cadillac srx my 2007. Spontaneous shattering of ultra view sun/moon roof. No object has ever struck roof top. Driving 45 MPH on open road, south bound on gratiot ave. In chesterfield, mi. Relatively smooth road surface. Ambient temperature 36 degrees f, light rain. Interior temperature 70 degrees f. Vehicle mileage: 7800 flying shards of glass forced my sons to stop and remove loose shards to prevent damage to following vehicles. No injuries due to sun visor being closed. *tr

While driving on interstate, cruise control set to 68 MPH., approximately 6:25 p.m., temperature in mid 60s, all windows rolled up, environmental set to 70, the ultraview sunroof of our 2007 Cadillac srx imploded into the passenger compartment. There were no vehicles in front of us, so no debris tossed up, wife and son received small cuts to face and arms, no medical attention required. No foreign objects found when cleaning car to take to dealership. No indications/sounds sunroof was damaged and about to give way. Car had just come from dealership for 60000 mile milestone service and repair of small items. *js

I was driving on tx highway146 on 11/21/2012, the morning before thanksgiving, the sun-roof suddenly exploded; it was as loud as a gun shot if not louder, the sound startled me that I veered out of my lane; luckily, there was no one else on the road. Even though I was shocked, no one was hurt. I don't think it is an isolated incident but Cadillac is not going to do anything about this unsafe sunroof. *tr

Hello, the reason for my email is that just this past monday, november 25 of 2013 the sunroof to my 2007 Cadillac srx exploded while driving on the freeway with no explanation. This happened around 8pm on a cold and drizzly night. Big chunks of glass fell all over my husband and I leaving us with minor scratches, fortunately no one was severely hurt. The following morning of the incident I went online and came across several identical incidents with the same make and model of car, as well as others. We took the liberty of contacting gm corporate headquarters as it seems this may possibly be a factory defect. My ignition switch and non starting issues are documented with my 2007 Cadillac srx...many of the issues listed in the recall for srx vehicles not in my year. There is a documented history of my vehicles having starting issues related to the battery being drained....and I believe the issue with the ignition switch may have been the problem all along. My year vehicle/VIN is not included in the current recall, however, I truly am having the same issues with the ignition switch...it moves around....it wiggles....sometimes car won't start...mimics electrical problems back dash light indicators. While in accessory mode, the vehicle failed to turn off. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Transfer case failed at 54,000 miles on a 7-year old car. Local mechanic repaired for $2700 and noted that it's a common problem for this model. The car jerked back and forth during driving at all speeds. *tr

The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v589000 (power train) the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Without any notice or lights or anything, my 2007 Cadillac srx will loose power and decelerate from 60 to 0 in just a few seconds. I can have the gas pedal to the floor and the car does not move, even though the motor is still running. It is as if the car is in neutral. Once you turn the car off and on again, it will run fine for a few days or a week or so before happening again. This has happened 4 or 5 times and the dealer says without being able to reproduce the problem there is nothing they can do. One time I was on a major highway and could not get out of the road. Other vehicles were swerving around me at 60+ miles per hour. I could have been seriously injured any one of the times this has happened to my vehicle. This started at only 25,000 miles. 2007 Cadillac srx brakes were applied at 60 MPH; brake pedal went to the floor and braking action was non-existent. Second push on the brake pedal provided some braking action and the vehicle successfully came to a stop on the shoulder. No dash warning lights or signals were observed. Vehicle was towed to a gm dealer; their inspection revealed that the right side front brake pipe(tubing) burst due to corrosion. Master brake cylinder was empty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Cadillac srx. The contact was driving 45 MPH when the anti-lock braking system engaged, causing the vehicle to decelerate. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer for a diagnostic test which determined a defective PCM. The dealer reprogrammed the PCM, replaced the rear brakes, rotors and a steering column sensor however, none of the repairs remedied the brake problem. The failure mileage was 78,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that they were unable to modify the seat due to the air bag being aligned with the seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,502. Contact has to use pillow to get hight enough to see. The problem involves the vehicle's traction control system. The car intermittently after coming to a complete stop and turning into oncoming traffic will lose all acceleration power for two to three seconds. During these two to three seconds, their is a hopeless feeling as you quickly look into your rear view mirror and pray that the car behind is slowing down or swerving into the left lane to avoid a collision. This happens on dry and clean pavement without any legitimate reason. After rolling slowly without power the accelerator will suddenly engage. *tr

My 2007 Cadillac srx airbag is bulging out and keeps getting worse.

Turn signal - high beams components. High beams activates at anytime while driving and when the turn signals are used( left or right ). Was pulled over in a speed trap, giving a warning for impeding police duties. I purchased a turn signal replacement, can't find anyone to install it. *tr

The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, but was not repaired. The contact was informed to take the vehicle to a Cadillac dealer. Vehicle: 2007 Cadillac srx build date approximately april 2007 problem: wheel lug nuts not staying tight. History: all 24 lug nuts found loose or finger tight (able to be removed by hand with socket but without using wrench) at 3,500 miles. Tightened by owner using owner's calibrated/certified torque wrench and returned vehicle to dealer for inspection. Dealer found all lug nuts tight. Dealer returned car to owner. Nuts re-checked and found loose on 3 wheels. Returned to dealer to inspect and tighten. Dealer found all lug nuts tight but broke one (1) wheel stud off tightening loose stud before reaching specified torque. Dealer re-checked the previously verified nuts and found 3 nuts on one wheel at less than the proper torque. No sign of wheel damage found. All nuts and

Car started rattleing when first starting. Shortly after my check engine light came on and it was running rough all the time then. Brought it to a mechanic and found out it's the timing chain. Super expensive to replace and per. Forums looks like tons of people with the 2006 srx had this problem as well. Nothing but constant repair bills with this crossover. I feel it is a safety issue as it could break at any time from being loose. I feel this should be recalled and replaced.

Frame rusted through on both left and right sides. Service manager made comment that frame rusted through from the inside of frame rail. Cadillac will not take any responsibility for repairs. Also includes rusting of fuel lines next to frame.
