Within 24 hrs of buying the vehicle my exhaust system fell off going down the highway. All the lights but the check engine light works on the dashboard. When you stop or accelerate the driver's seat moves forward or backwards slightly. Traction control does not work after the second week of owning it. When receiving for loaner vehicles all of them did not have working engine lights. *tr

The illumination indicates that the air bag is deactivated. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer several times and they stated that nothing was wrong. The air bag light is on, when a diagnostic is done a code of B0081-OF shows up, which is passenger presence module erratic.
Passenger side air bag/ the defectiveair bag sensor in the passenger seat will not turn on the air bag when a parson is in that seat. The GMC dealer said the car is out of warranty, so will not fix the problem at no cost. I believe this is safety issue, GMC should repair this safty violation at no charge.
steering 4 complaints shown
When ever it rains producing puddles the power steering stops making it hard to turn. It has done this since having car. I checked with other owners they are having same problem. *kb
I own a 2007 GMC arcadia and sometimes when I go through water (if it's been a heavy rain) my power steering does not work and it's very difficult to steer the car which could be a very dangerous situation. It happened when we were on vacation and we stopped at a auto repair shop and the owner came out and opened the hood and showed my husband that the power steering serpentine belt slipped. There is no covering over the belt and when it gets wet, it can slip. When we explained what happened, that we lost the power steering, he knew exactly what the problem was as he had other people that had the same problem. If we had been on a major highway, doing 65 miles an hour it could have been a tragedy. It also happened again during the christmas holiday. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 GMC acadia. The contact stated that the power steering would fail intermittently without warning and only when driving during inclement weather. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the wheel well shield was not properly designed to fit and when driving over puddles or wet roadways, water was entering the power steering compartment and causing the failure. The manufacturer was called who stated there was a retrofit for the front wheel well that would cost the contact $400 for installation. The failure was not under warranty and the manufacturer offered no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 69,000 and the current mileage was 88,000. Updated 02/09/11*lj the consumer stated the power steering failed three times

The failure mileage was 38,000.
electrical 3 complaints shown
At 80,000 miles transmission went out and had to be rebuilt. Car is also leaking under the passenger and driver floor board and moon roof/sunroof drips down from dome lights onto third row seats. Leaking has caused multiple electrical problems. When there is a heavy rain ignition will still run even after key is turned off and key is out of ignition car is currently at 130,000. Also ignition will power down even while care is in motion warning light will illuminate stating "engine power reduced" "traction control off" and vehicle will not move. Car has had more problems than any other I have owned, will never purchase another gm vehicle.
I am on active duty an active duty military member. While attending a military school, I purchased a new 2007 GMC acadia from a GMC dealership nearby. After the course, I served a year at a military station in another state, while there, my vehicle was serviced twice for recalls by a GMC service center nearby. One of the recalls was to fix a defect in the sun roof that was causing water leaks. I had the vehicle serviced in 09 while the vehicle was still under warranty just before shipping for a 2 year overseas assignment. At that time, I identified some electrical issues. Soon after my arrival to my overseas assignment, more electrical issues developed along with mystery water leaks that were saturating the carpet and causing mold to grow inside the vehicle. There was no gm service center
Daytime running lamp on drivers side is heating and melting the housing causing a risk for a fire!
lighting 2 complaints shown
Both daytime running lights have melted the bulb sockets and the bulb housing. The sockets have melted so bad that you cannot remove the bulb and the housing has melted so bad that the housing will no longer hold the bulb in place. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that you cannot turn the lights either on or off because the dial defaults to automatic which will use the daytime running lights automatically unless you physically turn them off each time you turn the car off. This set of circumstances causes a serious fire hazard! This issue needs to be resolved immediately. The photo without a bulb is the left daytime running light housing and the photo of the bulb goes in that housing. The photos with the bulb still in the housing are of the right running light. The housing is compl
I was driving my GMC acadia all of a sudden one of the headlights just turned off, then a few minutes after same thing happened to the other headlight. I have read that it has happen to a few and going to some electric issue.

While driving 45mph on a straightaway highway , three warnings came on "reduced engine power" "service stabilitrak" and "traction control off" then the vehicle lost power cars behind me and nowhere to pull off the car had lost power it would not get over fifteen MPH. Taking it into be serviced .I have already had the transmission replaced
While traveling at 45 MPH, and with no warning (weird shifting, etc) the transmission completely failed. After being lied to by the dealership and gm, I did my own research and found that this is a common problem with this model year, so much so that gm has created a special program to fund part of the repair if the vehicle is out of warranty. (wave plate failure in the transmission). This vehicle should be recalled with a mandatory replacement of the wave plate. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 GMC acadia. The contact stated that water penetrated the driver side floor of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have an inspection performed. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.
The vehicle leaks water on both the right and left floor boards and appears to be also coming down the back of the front dash. This occurs in light rain up to severe rain. It has been dealer repaired (sealed and gasket material applied) and that seamed to work the first time for a while and now it is leaking in the same place again. *tr
