Driver-side headlight functions intermittently at startup....I have to turn switch off completely and turn on, and light functions....many prius owners have complained about this over the years, and Toyota has done nothing....some theorize the circuit board controlling the HID lights is in a poor location and overheats/defective....anyway this is not a bulb problem, but a system problem.....please help us...... *tr

HID headlight failure. This problem is intermittent, with both lights, Toyota has failed to accept responsibility for faulty equipment and the NHTSA has failed to recognize this as an issue. This should be a recall problem. I intend to use your finding that says this is "not a safety issue" because both lights do not go out at the same time, when I am pulled over by a police man. I intend to take your findings to court when that happens, to insist that any charges be dropped because you have deemed this to not be a problem. I have a 2007 prius and a 2000 tundra pick-up. My tundra has over 200,000 miles on it and has never has a problem with its lights. My prius is another story 60k miles and light issues. Toyota knows this is a problem and with the assistance to the NHTSA they are

Passenger headlight went out while driving. When I went to replace it the next day, the light was working. Today (dec 30, 2011) problem occurred again. *kb

Drivers side headlamp goes off randomly. Auto is 2007 prius. *tr

12/30/2008 ODI #10253178.0

Both headlamps (individually and together) intermittently go out. Turning off the headlamps and turning them back on clears this problem temporarily. This is becoming more than an inconvenience, it is a serious safety issue. *tr

Both headlights suddenly went out while driving on an unlit mountain highway. Happened again the next night while driving on another highway. Turning the light switch off and on again brought the headlights back on. Previously, driver's side headlight would suddenly go out intermittently. This was the first time both headlamps went dim at the same time. Very scaring and dangerous situation as there was no visibility as soon as the lights went out. *tr

HID light randomly go out. Sometimes the driver side, sometimes the passenger side...sometimes both. They usually come back on by turning them off and back on at the switch. Dealer quoted $700 per light to fix. Ridiculous for early failure of a "upgraded" light option that we had to pay extra for when we purchased the car. *kb

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 Toyota prius. While driving at any speed, the contact stated that the headlights on the vehicle would shut off without warning. He would then turn the switch off and on and they would come back on intermittently but would shut off again. Both the dealer and manufacture were notified who denied that there was a problem. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The current mileage was approximately 110,000. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The headlight on my 2007 Toyota prius touring has started to randomly turn off. If I shut them off and turn them back on both headlights come on. Stopped by state cops for only one headlight but when he had me turn them on both were there. $228.00 to replace one bulb. Waiting to see if it is fixed. 37000+ miles on car. *tr

HID bulbs (front headlights) go out on my 2007 Toyota prius. They are on sometimes, and off at other times. Replaced the first one at 28k miles, now at 46k the other one is doing the same thing. This is an obvious problem with the high intensity bulbs. *tr

I have had a 2007 Toyota prius and bought it new. It now has 40k miles and HID lamps will go out when driving or idling. Sometimes both lights will go out at the same time. This is a safety concern. The lights will typically go back on if you turn off the switch and then turn it back to "on" I have read other prius and Toyota owners in the prius chat site with similar problems. HID lamps should last longer than 2 years. *tr

My brake actuator is going bad, I have e-brake light on always, as well as vsc, ABS, and ((!)) lights on the dash. This happened when the vehicle was in motion and not the lights do not go off and the brake actuator is constantly making noise and running.

The ABS brake actuator assembly is failing on my 2007 Toyota prius, creating unpredictable and dangerous braking. It is a $3,000 replacement that, up until the end of 2017, Toyota was replacing at no charge, but no longer, under a warranty enhancement program, zg1, acknowledging that this part is defective. I went on line and discovered that this is a very common problem for 2007 toyotas. This should not be just a voluntary "warranty enhancement," but a mandatory recall to force Toyota to fix this dangerous defect. This device runs almost constantly when it shouldn't, creates a drag on the car that has cut MPG in half, is probably wearing out the brakes prematurely, and causes dangerously slow acceleration from a stop that has resulted in some near accidents. I presume the ABS functio

ABS actuator failure at only 64,000 miles. Potential for complete break failure if not immediately addressed. Toyota is aware of the issue as there is a tsb, but they are charging thousands of dollars for a repair for a safety critical item that is due to a manufacturing defect. This should be covered under a recall.

I've been having issues with my right headlight going out intermittently. If I cycle the power the headlight usually comes back on. The dealer says there's nothing wrong. I've been pulled over once for an equipment violation already. Last night the headlight went out leaving me with limited visibility. As I rounded a corner I almost hit a deer standing on the shoulder as I couldn't see him/her due to the limited visibility. *tr

2007 intermittent left headlight failure. I sent it to a Toyota dealer because I have a "bumper-to-bumper warranty" on 23 dec 09. They told me that it would cost me over $400 to replace two bulbs. I don't believe it's a bulb problem because I can re-cycle the switch to get it back. On 29 dec it failed again at night during a snow storm, nearly causing a freeway accident. *tr

I have a 2007 Toyota prius and the rubber has "decomposed" off the latch and has made it nearly impossible to gain access to the rear compartment of my vehicle. The rubber degradation has made the sensitivity of the hatch door latch erratic and not working mostly. Its cause me to try to yank the hatch door a couple of times which has cause the latch door handle to come loose. Toyota pls address this issue. Thanks *tr

The flexible gas tank on the prius often fails to fill up all of the way to full. In cold weather the tank often fills only 8 gallons(when completely empty) and sometimes clicks off at 3 gallons or less and keeps clicking off until more gas is forced into the tank. The prius was brought in to the dealer and they looked into the tank issue and found nothing. There recommendation was to fill up on the slowest level and to tilt the gas nozzle to side or upside down to force more gas into the tank. This did not rectify the situation and the dealer could not offer any further remedy. The dealer will not do anything further to fix the situation. *tr
