Wipers stopped working 12/20/16. Dealership said it was the wiper motor and it was $300.00 to repair. When the wiper motor replacement didn't work we were told it was the tipm and no recalls however previous years prior there where recalls. The tipm is going to cost $936.00 plus the repair cost looking at rough estimate of $1,500. It's fortunate I was in my driveway and not driving in a rain or snow storm. I have been without a vehicle for a week, a major inconvenience getting back and forth to work. Not sure how an investigation was closed and denied that there were any safety issues with the tipm on the 2011 model. I have read many complaints concerning the tipm. *tr

When I get in the car, all the lights and door ajar sounds happen like normal. When I put the key into ignition and attempt to crank it, all the lights in the dash come on but the vehicle will not start or even turn over or click,,,nothing. After start attempt, the check engine light, gas cap light and tire light stay on and everything else shuts off. I have been a week without the car because it won't start.
My 2011 Dodge seems to have an electrical issue. I am unable to use the defrost, or air. Each time I turn it on the engine begins to run hot. Also my windshield wipers turn on when I start my engine, but they were not engaged. This happens wen the vehicle is turned on and stationary as well as when in motion.
My windshield wipers come on in and won't turn off. It happens when I turn on vehicle and wont turn off unless I pull out the fuse for them and leave the fuse out for while. At the same time the problem starts with the wipers, my blinkers won't work at all. I haven't been able to find a quick fix to get them to work again, unless I disconnect my battery and then reconnect it. That doesnt always fix the problem though. Both of these problems happen periodically, every so often and at random times. It's happened atleast 20 times now.
Driving on 2 lane highway and had to brake hard as another vehicle cut me off. As soon as I did (brake) my SUV shut off...all the lights flashed on the dash board. I immediately put the flashers on and hoped I didn't get rear-ended. I tried 3x to restart my 2011 Dodge nitro- it finally started. I was near the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, I pulled in, told them what just happened. They hooked it up to the computer and reported 'no errors'. It was a near miss on a busy highway, and I am worried if this were to happen again. I don't feel safe in my Dodge nitro. I was alone, but what if I had passengers, children, etc.? It is definitely a safety issue when you brake hard and your vehicle just shuts off, wouldn't move. This is incredible scary. Someone or more than one person is go
Using my keyless entry fob, I unlocked my door and tried to start my vehicle. The vehicle would not start, but the dash lights came on so I knew the battery was not dead. I thought the battery on the key fob might be going out, so I went to purchase another key fob battery. With the new battery in the key fob, I tried to unlock my vehicle and it would not open. I used the key to manually unlock the car door, and the alarm went off. I tried to deactivate the alarm with the key fob and by inserting the key in the ignition and tried to start the vehicle. The vehicle would not start, and the alarm would not deactivate. I thought the key fob was bad, so I got my extra key fob and tried it. With the extra key fob, I still incurred the same problem -- could not start my vehicle. I had to
3 weeks after having my 2011 Dodge nitro detenator would stick between gears, at both slow and high speeds and I was burnning through gas way too fast. Nissian found my tansmittion oil to be black, I paid for flush and told it was good to go. Next day the car died, the throttle body indicator came on, this was fixed, still burning through gas! Couple weeks later now it sounds like a disel engine idle, I can not afford all these problems. I found several owners of this car have had same problems along with electrical as I have had as well, my electrical system cuts out randomly and a few times my kids and I have smelt what seemed to be that of burnt rubber or something. Im very displeased and upset with my purchase.
brakes 2 complaints shown
While driving, when brakes are applied after hitting a pothole or indention in the road, the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. The vehicle eventually stops. Brakes will eventually come back up to normal position. This has happened exiting the freeway, and on city streets.
When vehicle is in motion on a city street and hits a bump or rut and I hit the brakes, brake pedal goes all the way to the floor.

The heater core on my car has cracked and is leaking fuel into the driver side floor. This should not be happening on a car with 60000 miles that is only 3 years old. I was told that an average of 178 heater cores are being bought per week for Dodge nitros. This seems like a very high number and I would hope a recall is being looked into. *tr

I was stopped at a intersection waiting for traffic to pass on a city street, as I pressed the gas pedal to drive the vehicle had a loud explosion noise and felt as if I was rear ended, immediately the side airbags deployed on me and my two sons and objects flew everywhere, the truck immediately began to roll backwards as I couldn't control or stop it. I pulled the emergency breaks and jumped out to see my drive shaft had exploded underneath the truck, the ambulance came to take my son to the er because the airbags went off causing him to have severe collar bone pain. I contacted insurance company this morning and waiting to hear who's covering what. I/my son is in severe pain and shocked as to why this wasn't recalled with the other nitro years. This could've been fatal, I need answers a.
My vehicle stalled out due to a failure with a defective totally integrated power module. According to the dealer making the repair wires leading to the alternator and wires leading to the PCM were fried. The wiring issue appear to be a fire hazard. My first concern is this defective part has caused me about $2,000 in repairs from replacing the battery, 2 alternators and towing. My second concern is that in both situations the car died on me in traffic one on a six lane road and another time on the highway. I also had a similar incident on the highway when the motor died with only 30k miles on it and had to be replaced by the manufacturer.
