Just hours after routine oil and filter change, I pulled out onto the highway, accelerating to access the roadway at a reasonable speed of traffic. The engine began to slow, and then stopped completely.....no power, nothing!!!! I was almost rear-ended and catapulted into oncoming traffic. The dealership was contacted and brought the car in, where the service manager said the engine shut down was caused by an insect that "got thru" the screen on the air filter valve(?) and attached itself to the filament that reads and adjusts the air/gas mix. The system couldn't read it and the engine "automatically shut down". This is a huge safety risk....how can an engine be shut down by an insect, regardless of auto speed, location etc etc etc. Any "automatic" engine shutdown is an inexcusable de

I purchased the car used with 28,000 mile and I have't had a single issue with it until today current mileage 52,300 the car for no reason just cut off and the oil light was on , I was able to pull over and restart the car . The scary part is there is no type of warning just goes dead .
Had my Ford for less than 6 months, and has 80,000 miles on it. Looks brand new, in excellent shape and yet on the way home from the grocery store, it began overheating. The tempature gage shot up and the engine started cutting out. We pulled over and the vehicle was smoking. We started adding water and coasting down the mountain until we could get home. Called several mechanics and find out that this is a common problem with our year and model. Every person we've consulted has quoted us $3,000 to repair the water pump. We have been told that the excessive charge is because when Ford built this model, the water pump was placed inside the engine. The entire engine has to be taken out of the car in order to replace the water pump. Most mechanics around us don't even have the machine that is
steering 3 complaints shown
This Sunday, the electrical power steering started acting weird as I was driving home, the steering did some unpredictable stops as I was driving 100km/h and had to take a turn on the road. Almost got into an accident because of that steering sudden failure. I can't imagine if there have been a car on the opposite lane I was gonna hit that car... I got so afraid I can't believe the steering can actually malfunction all of a sudden like this. I somehow got back home ''safe'' but then steering was dead. Impossible to steer. Dead. Got my taurus 2011 SHO towed to the closest Ford dealer so that they finally call me and say my VIN number is not on the recall even tho there were thousands of Taurus 2011-2013 recalled for that same issue.

I own a 2011 Ford taurus with heated leather seats. The heating mechanism began to get hotter in spots on the back of the seat on my drive into work. I begin to feel a burning sensation on my skin as well as a burning smell in the car. I originally thought it was in the heating vents, after turning off the car and stepping out I realized it was not. When I took off my coat, I realized that the seat had burned a hole in my jacket, my sweater and I had a burn on my skin. Looking at the drivers side seat you can see burn marks as well as a hole where the heating mechanism burned through the seat and burned out. *tr

The vehicle won't stop in a hurry no matter how hard the brake pedal is pushed. If I depress the brake pedal and then the accelerator, the brakes won't keep it from moving. Have replaced master cylinder and bleed brakes. Afraid to drive it. Not safe in town.

2011 Ford taurus front driver's heated seat suddenly was so hot that it had to be turned off to prevent from getting burned. There are numerous complaints about this same issue on the internet. The car mentioned only has 30,000 miles on it. This seems to be a safety issue and I contacted Ford, but no one seems to care. The extended warranty ran out less than three months ago and Ford does not care. I am wondering if there needs to be a recall on these heated seats, before it causes an accident or someone gets burned from the seat.

I hit a dirt embankment the seatbelts did not lock and I ended up smashing my head off of my steering wheel and my passenger ended up smashing their head off of my dashboard.
cruise control 1 complaint shown
This involves the expensive safety accessory: "forward collision avoidance "on this vehicle, this safety feature is intermittent. As I'm driving on a city street or freeway, the unit suddenly turns off and at the same time, the cruise control turns off. In order to re-engage the systems, the engine must be turned off and re-started. The problems started about 2 months ago. ( oct.-2015) I count on this safety feature. (forward collision avoidance) as an example, the car in front has no brake lights, I have no idea that it is slowing and comes to an abrupt stop. This could result in a collision, whereas the avoidance feature gives plenty of warning in regards to the sudden slowing of the vehicle in front. I wonder how many of these units may have original factory defects, yet have not

Rented a 2011 Ford taurus in maui; driving back from hana after dark, we couldn't see the right side of the road because of the headlights, which appeared to be severely out of adjustment --- they aimed left. The road is narrow, so we slowed to 25mph, +/-; we hit the end of a broken curb, destroying the right front tire. The rental company is hitting us $800 for a $400 factory mag wheel, plus a new tire. We could have quite easily gone over the edge into the ocean, considering we couldn't see the edge of the road; somebody driving a 2011 taurus southbound on california highway 1 after dark would be putting their life in jeopardy. *tr
visibility 1 complaint shown
I was driving at about 40 MPH on a cool, sunny day when my moonroof on my 2011 fordtaurus exploded. It made a very loud noise at first (similar to a gunshot) which was followed by the glass crackling for about 45 minutes. It was not struck by any object (rock, etc). The Ford dealership I took it to immediately afterwards was dumbfounded as to what would have caused it to shatter. Very small glass fragments did fall into the car. Because my warranty had expired, I had to pay for a replacement out of pocket. *tr
