Steering coupler went out at 23,000 miles. Not covered under warranty according to Hyundai leading to repairs in excess of $500. Many Hyundai’s have this problem and if it goes out completely the vehicle no longer has electric steering assist, the steering wheel makes a clunking sound, and the car drifts all over the road.

12/26/2013 1,500 mi ODI #10557245.0

When I entered the car and turned it on the steering wheel was locked . The engine was running and I could put it in gear but the steering would not turn. After I restarted the car a couple of times the problem was corrected but I am worried this will happen while driving and might cause a crash. This problem was repeated in 2 different occasions. Another issue that happened twice was that I would put the car in reverse and it would not move. Same issue was resolved . If this car is faulty and from the complaints I see that it is .. There must be something done about it! *tr

While traveling down the road at approximately 50 MPH the crank pulley fell off the motor. This prevents the alternator, water pump and ac compressor from functioning as they are belt driven. With the alternator not functioning the batter will be drained to the point of dead (depending on what accessories are on) and with the water pump not functioning the car will almost immediately overheat leaving the vehicle stranded. *tr

While driving in the highway I had a burn wire smell when my air conditioner was set at blower speed 4 and it stop working at that setting. I was doing dome research and found the controller has a tendency to get burn indide due to be unable to hold the blower electrical load. I think this can turn into a fire hazard. Found info in forums, youtube videos etc. Lot of people is dealing with this to the point they replace the part with an original one and the new one gets burn again. There is an open recall for my 2013 Veloster turbo 1.6 turbo engine code 182 from Hyundai. But it’s not showing under my VIN. My car have exact problems that is described in the recall. “ Engine damage can increase the risk of a fire or cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.” so I went to the dealership but they said they won’t help me with the recall and they can fix my car but they are going to charge me.

My 2013 Hyundai veloster's sunroof exploded violently, while parked under the carport. It caused damaged to the interior and to the surrounding vehicles. According to reviews this issue is under investigation for the 2012 models, yet mine is a 2013. Obviously, the problem has been corrected. I will not feel safe driving my car once the manufacture/dealership fix it. And sadly, I've only had it for a month. *tr
