While driving alternator started smelling and rapid changes in voltage. When stopped and opened hood alternator was smoking and starting to catch on fire. Truck was being driven on city street as well as a highway. I have taken the truck to dealership in july to correct all recalls. The dealership did all other recalls other then alternator they said they did not have the parts and would call me when they could get the parts. It is now december 23rd and no call when the issue happened.

I just purchased this truck less than 1 week ago; brand new. I was slowly approaching an intersection (stop sign) with vehicles in front of me; waiting to turn. The truck suddenly started surging/lurching forward for a period of 5-10 seconds; nearly hitting the vehicle in front of me. I placed the truck into neutral and applied the brakes so as not to hit another car and prevent and accident. The "electronic throttle control" message came up on my dash during this time period, but soon (30 seconds) went away. I am concerned this will happen again causing an accident and place myself and others in danger. I will be visiting a dealership to get it evaluated. After an internet search, it appears this is a fairly common problem; Chrysler needs to fix this problem. *tr

Factory mounted electric brake controller does not put out enough voltage and current to safely stop a heavy trailer. This is a known problem and many owners are experiencing it.

Door locks sometimes lock when the locked button is pressed. Does not matter if it's the lock button on the truck, the auto lock once you go above 10mph, or the lock button on the remote. Since the doors do not lock, kids may be able to exit the vehicle at speed and get hurt!

Vehicle emission recall # s47 was applied and my Dodge still does not pass smog for california. Dodge is requiring that I drive the vehicle, however, this is the 9th time it will not pass smog and my ca registration is expired and I cannot legally drive the vehicle until it passes smog. I want Dodge to replace or repair the vehicle because it is not drivable. However, Dodge is telling me to drive the vehicle despite the fact that it is not registered.

Driver performed a pre-use walk around inspection on vehicle and observed no damage. Driver proceeded on to destination. Driver merged on to hwy 70 east and accelerated to the posted speed limit of 75mph and set the cruise control. With no other vehicles around the driver, on or around mile marker 184, the vehicle started to make a loud grinding sound and violently vibrated. Over time the transmission cooling line to the radiator was rubbing against another part in the engine compartment resulting in a hole in the line and eventually catastrophic failure of the line. This caused transmission fluid to be sprayed around the engine compartment and the roadway creating an environmental issue. This could cause loss of power, fire and damage to the environment. Online other users of same make model and year have reported the same issue.

2013 Dodge Ram 2500. Consumer writes in regards to torque converter drains fluid back into transmission when parked over night or longer at various rates, engine stalls, gear shifter issues. *smd the consumer stated the minimum drain back was 1/2 quart above full in the transmission, which caused soft engagement of the gear selected. However, the consumer stated the worst experience was when the truck was facing up hill on a slight grade and the gear selector was in drive. With a light throttle, the vehicle rolled backwards and the brakes had to be applied. The consumer also stated when slowing down to any speed, except in first gear with or without the exhaust brake on, when the engine RPM dropped to 900-1000 RPM the transmission shifted to neutral and not the next lower gear. Steering became extremely loose. It became so loose that if I hit a bump I would end up in the next lane of traffic. The upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, and the entire steering linkage were replaced and the problem didnt get better. I had nearly 6 inches of play in the steering wheel. I'd appreciate if something was done for this so no more people have to go through this headache or safety issue.

While driving I needed to merge into on coming traffic. As I accelerated I suddenly needed to let off he throttle due to conditions. When the throttle was reapplied I had a completely dead gas pedal that was not responsive. The truck remained unresponsive for a solid 2-3 seconds, then it slowly started to accelerate again. The truck never quit running and no dash lights indicated a problem during this incident. Over the last year of driving the truck it has done it numerous times and put me and my family in danger. I am also able to replicate this problem time & time again. I have been told by the dealer ship that its the nature of the beast. This seems to be a huge problem and is all over various Ram forums. *tr

Noticed a faint scent of diesel coming from the truck, yet did not see any leaks on the pavement. Drove truck approximately 25 miles and noticed leaking fuel on the pavement. Looked from under the engine compartment and from the hood area at the fuel filter area - starts the engine and diesel fuel shot out like a sprinkler system.

At highway speed, about 60-65 MPH I went into an uncontrollable wobble. It would only calm down after decreasing speed to less then 35 MPH. The truck only has less then 35,000 miles. Took it to the dealer that claimed it had bad ball joints. Again the truck only has less then 35,000 miles on it. Dodge Ram junk.
