While driving down the freeway, the sunroof of the car spontaneously exploded raining broken glass into the car. There was nothing above the car at the time the sunroof exploded (I.e. An overpass where something could have fallen) nor were there other vehicles near by that could have kicked a rock or other object that could have broken the glass. Further, after pulling off the road to examine the damage, the glass had exploded outward, away from the car rather than inward, as would be expected if something like a rock had hit the glass and broken it.

Right front tire 235/40/r18/95h deflated when it hit a pot hole on low speed street road. Inner sidewall was damaged and tire need to be replaced. This is the first incident.
Left front tire is flat. Per Volvo technician found nail in edge of sidewall which is non repairable and need to be replaced. This is the fourth incident.
Left front tire always losing air. Replaced by a new tire. This is the second incident.
I was driving my 2013 Volvo S60 T5 when I felt a sudden, sharp pain in my hand and started bleeding. After safely stopping, I discovered that the chrome trim on the steering wheel had detached from the steering wheel itself and caused a minor cut on my finger. Upon further inspection, I found that the trim is secured to the steering wheel with an adhesive that deteriorates over time, and the trim itself has sharp metal edges.
engine 4 complaints shown
While driving on the highway to work on 12/3/18 my vehicle driver information center displayed a message of "no oil pressure - park safely". As I attempted to pull to the shoulder of the highway the engine started knocking very loudly and shutdown! The engine now has catastrophic failure, with a terrible knocking if the engine is started. It cannot be driven!
Car is burning oil. No oil leaks detected via mechanic or loss on the ground. Have to put multiple quarts of oil per month. The "check oil pressure" illuminates typically when making a turn which is extremely disconcerting. This is a known problem for this vehicle, just google it. They are well aware that these cars were incorrectly rated with the amount of oil initially. Volvo has done nothing to remedy this situation even though it's a known problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 Volvo s60. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, there was an abnormal noise under the hood of the vehicle. The contact pulled into the driveway where her husband checked the oil levels. The contact stated that the oil pressure warning was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed and the mechanic determined that there was an oil consumption failure. The contact stated that four quarts of oil was added in the vehicle however, the failure recurred. There were no oil leaks visible. Dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
I have owned my 2013 s60 Volvo for 3.5 years. About 2 years ago, I started noticing that my car was burning/ consumption an excessive amount of oil between oil change intervals. I get my oil changed on the recommended schedule, but I always have to add oil before the next scheduled service. I started doing research and it appears that a recall was done for some cars, but my VIN was not included. It also appears that many other people are having the same problem. People pay a lot of money for these cars and to have a major component failure is not acceptable. I am requesting that you review and expand this recall including my car and the hundreds of cars with the same defects. The trunk would not open with the key fob. Another time, the car driver door would not lock. When the driver door was opened, the car alarm would go off. The dealer replaced the locking mechanism.
Car has had regular oil changes and was well below the recommended time for the next change when the engine began knocking in September. I took the car for inspection at a Volvo mechanic repair shop and was told all of the oil was gone and engine is damaged beyond repair. No engine or oil indicator light came on to warn me that the oil was low. I understand the 2011-2012 models were recalled for this issue and apparently the problem continued to the 2013 model. The car has low mileage and I am shocked that it is now effectively totaled. I am now without a vehicle and feel that Volvo should have to correct the situation and that a recall should be issued.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, there was a loud noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the front passenger tire needed to be replaced. The tire was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. seatbelts 1 complaint shown
When the front passenger does not use seat belt, the car does not issue any audible warning (even when the car is in motion, e.g. At 30 MPH). Note that, in contrast, the audible warning will ring for 6 seconds if the driver does not use seat belt. I called the local dealer and Volvo north america at (201) 768-7300, the reply was that this is exactly how it is designed to work. The dealer also confirmed that the same behavior was observed on other Volvo cars on his site. The receptionist at Volvo north america confirmed to me that "the audible warning for the front passenger seat was eliminated" and it is not possible even for the dealer to enable it. Then, my question is, why does the design engineers at Volvo think it is ok if the front passenger does not use safety belt and there I
brakes 1 complaint shown
I started losing brake pressure rapidly about a month ago. Took it to a shop and they recommended replacing the master cylinder. The repair was completed and the braking improved for about 2 weeks and then I lost all brake pressure. The vehicle was not safe to operate and I had it towed back to the shop once again. Again they suggested replacing the master cylinder. We completed that repair and I had brake pressure for about three days. Then my low brake fluid light came on. As of right now my pedal is squishy and I have to put brake fluid in every 24 hours. There are no external leaks but we can’t figure out what the issue is. It’s become a serious safety hazard. Possibly an internal leak into the brake booster. It’s also a common issue among other Volvo owners of this year and model.
powertrain 1 complaint shown
With less than 50,000 miles on it, my s60 just completely stopped working on my way to work. While pulling out of my development, the entire engine, power steering - everything shut down. I had to coast into a turning lane to put on my flashers. I had not gone more than 3 minutes from my house. After Volvo had it for a few days they told me that the alternator belt had jumped off, hitting the alternator, fraying the belt. This then resulted in the belt wrapping around another part of the engine impacting the drive belt. This resulted in damage to the drive belt, alternator, 1/3 of my engine and my cylinder block. Volvo is blaming this on a faulty belt tensioner, yet they are making me pay for part of the repair which is a total cost of $6,000. This is clearly a defective part - either it w

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the protection bar needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.

I was driving down the freeway and the driverside door swung open while it was locked. This is after the door handle recall repair was performed. Prior to the recall repair, my door never came open like that while drving. This is dangerous because I could have fallen out, or a car could have hit my door! Also, the windshield leaks on the inside and has been doing that for a long while. Volvo service said it does not leak. It does leak when raining or ice/snow melt. This is dangerous because windshield wipers do not work on the interior part of the window to wipe away water so the driver can see.
