Is there a fix? Manufacturer service bulletins

The manufacturer has issued service bulletins covering lighting on this vehicle — documented repair instructions, service campaigns, or warranty extensions sent to dealers. A TSB isn't a recall (it's not a free safety remedy), but it's the manufacturer acknowledging the issue and how to fix it.

SOME 2014-2017 TRANSIT CONNECT VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH CORNERING LAMPS. THE CORNERING LAMPS SHARE THE SAME BULB AS THE FOG LAMPS AND ILLUMINATE WHEN THE VEHICLE SPEED IS LESS THAN 25 MPH AND THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) RECEIVES A REQUEST FOR A TURN SIGNAL OR THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED GREATER THAN 35 DEGREES FROM CENTER. BEFORE DIAGNOSING A RIGHT OR LEFT FOG LAMP THAT MAY SEEM TO BE STUCK ON, TURN THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO CENTER. IF THE LAMP GOES OFF, THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH CORNERING LAMPS AND ARE WORKING AS DESIGNED. REFER TO THE WORKSHOP MANUAL SECTION 417-01 EXTERIOR LIGHTING.

SOME 2014-2017 TRANSIT CONNECT VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULB BURN OUT, IN WHICH THE BULB CONNECTOR IS ALSO DAMAGED. THIS CONCERN IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. DO NOT REPLACE THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY. TO SERVICE, USE PIGTAIL KIT 8U2Z-14S411-GA. DO NOT SHORTEN THE WIRES ON THE PIGTAIL KIT, SO THEY CAN ACT AS A HEAT SINK TO DRAW HEAT AWAY FROM THE BULB. A NEW PART AND PROCEDURE IS BEING DEVELOPED. MONITOR OASIS FOR UPDATES.

At what mileage does the lighting typically fail?

Based on the 5 complaints filed, lighting issues most often appear around 60,000 miles. Some report problems earlier; some make it well past 150,000 with no symptoms. Maintenance habits matter — vehicles that received timely fluid services and were not regularly overworked tend to last longer.

What does it cost to fix?

Independent shops typically charge around $250 for lighting repairs on this vehicle. Dealer pricing tends to run 20-40% higher. The exact figure depends on the specific failure mode, parts availability, and your local labor rates. If you're outside factory warranty, an extended service contract often covers this category.

Are there any recalls related to lighting?
